Neil and his crew Nice honest work. He doesn't overcharge he doesn't try to sell you things you don't need in fact when my furnace went down a couple days before Christmas I panicked and called AJ Perri. What a mistake. They charge $179 to come in and tell me that my furnace can't be fixed without even touching it and I need a whole new system for $16,000 this week only. I then called Neil came over the next day and changed a thermal couple on the furnace. He stated my furnace is almost indestructible and doesn't need changing. I reached out to Neil Slattery without any personal recommendations, but was impressed by all the positive reviews about the professionalism and skill of his staff. Neil personally came to my house when one of his techs called out sick. Unfortunately he could not perform the anticipated work that day because of his techs unforeseen illness. Because we needed the work done urgently, as we had renters moving in in just a few days, I called Neil to ask for a favor. He did not hesitate to get the work done to meet our time line. TERRIFIC - I can't say enough good things. My pipes that are in 3' high dirt crawl space rusted out; I had no heat. First guy I called came and gave up. i have contracted for 2 needs and very pleased with both. First was an emergency need due to a failed sump pump and fears of some basement water. It was at 10pm and Omar was at my home within an hour of my call. Water heater gave up the ghost. I called name on sticker from when installed by prior owner, but plumber had apparently retired, so I suppose Slattery bought his list or got calls routed to his company. They did send out guys pretty quickly but I could soon sense that they had me over a barrel, with no hot water, as I was provided quotes that obviously were inflated, going from about 2.5K to over 4K for a new tank. I told them I'd discuss with wife and that they could leave, so I called another plumber and got the work quickly done with a new heater for 1K under lowest quote from Slattery. read more

Neil did great work on a major plumbing job on our home about 5 months ago. We had to call him again regarding a separate problem from the first job he did. After he inspected everything, he stood in the rain, working out our plumbing issue. He's extremely nice, so professional, and just a regular guy! As a matter of fact, I was looking after my 1yr old as my wife was speaking with Neil. He cared about our issue, explained everything very well, and he had even gone home, but then came back only minutes later to work out our problem after receiving the information he needed! He so kindly showed us the upkeep maintenance that we can do every couple months to prevent our issue from happening again. What?! Who does such nice things like that? :) For a little background, I work in the trades and know what to look for in craftsmanship. After years of problems with frozen pipes in our family's shore house we had Neil and His team convert our heat supply lines to Pex tubing and replace the heating unit. They were professional and personable during the work and very quick to respond when there was issues with the heating unit. We were very concerned during the recent very cold snap that we would be back to frozen pipes and water damage but very happy to report that even with these cold temps and high winds there was zero issues and the house is warm and comfortable. read more

Like Mike I used Neil about year ago and thought he was very fair and reasonable so I decided to call him again for an air conditioning problem we are having. Neil sent over another associate to check out the system and he recommended a variety of maintenance work that was ridiculously expensive, so I decided to call in other AC dealers who reviewed the Slattery estimate and they came in at about 10-15 percent of that estimate. On top of that he charged me a fee to come out an look at the problem, it was insulting because he was charging a fee to see if he could rip me off, luckily I had enough sense to get a second opinion. Our extended family used him for years, for jobs both big and small with great success. If you get Neil, you'll get great service at a fair price. Unfortunately, he has expanded his business and the people he sends aren't Neil. I referred his company to a friend who reported back to me that the guy who showed up (not Neil) was insulting and wanted to charge a ridiculous amount to install a water heater. My friends declined the service and called in NJR (local natural gas supplier?) to do the job for less than half the price with a good warranty. My recent experiences have been along the same lines... If you get "Not Neil", it's a bit of a crap shoot. Maybe you'll be ok, but I'd suggest that you get other companies in for an estimate and/or 2nd opinion. read more

In the past my mom and I have used Neil and been very happy with him. Unfortunately, I guess he now has expanded and others are handling service. I needed my toilet replaced and the person that handled it was very unprofessional. He came with the wrong color toilet (obvious lack of communication with the person I ordered with) and then seemed annoyed with me when I was upset it was the wrong color. I could go on and on but suffice it to say the entire experience was not good (including the leaving of a bucket filled with dirty sponge left in my bathroom) I called to complain and after no response wrote a letter to Neil, after SEVERAL weeks he FINALLY left a voice mail saying the letter was "lost" on his desk. I called Mr Slattery last Monday, 9/14/2015 asking him fix a leaking seal on a toilet. He has worked at my house 2 other times in the last 3 years, and I have been very satisfied. He sent one of his employees whom I have never met. The job started out at $39.00. The employee disconnected the toilet, and found an issue he for which needed "to speak to Neil". After that discussion, he came back in an informed me the repair would be over $350.00. I felt my only choice was to have him continue, the toilet was disconnected with water leaking all over the bathroom. Neil's employee was in there for over an hour, and emerged saying he needed to once again speak to his boss about the difficulty of the resolution. He did tell me Mr. Slattery was not happy with him that it was taking too long. He came back in, and informed me the repair cost would now be $525.00 plus dollars. Sign here. I felt that I had no choice since the bath was torn apart . Slattery had always been fair and thorough in the past and I was confident in his quality of work from past experience. Slatterty's employee glued three or four rings of plastic together to fabricate a solution to the problem. I've found out from speaking to other people since, that there is a part that exists for probably $50.00 max at Home Depot that would have done the job in a fraction of the time. He finished and informed me that the "fix" needed to "cure" over night,and he would be back tomorrow to finish the repair. I was troubled by the fact that he said the "fix" might not work, but we'd know tomorrow. If it didn't work, he'd have to "rip it out" and replace it with the proper part that I had heard about. I was not comfortable that this unfinished job was already over $525.00, and the plumber didn't know if it was going to work. Mr. Slattery's employee worked in the bathroom over 2 hours with the supply line disconnected. He knew the line was leaking and had to be sopping up the leaking water the whole time he was in there. He even said he was going to" cap it before he left, so there were no problems". As the was leaving, he told me he was going to the truck to get a cap to seal the disconnected water supply line. "We don't want any problems, now do we?" He closed the door to the bathroom and left. The next morning, Tuesday, at 7:15 am, my wife called me out to the foyer to tell me there was water coming up throughout the wood flooring. To my horror, I looked in the bathroom and saw water all over the floor, NO CAP ON THE OPEN SUPPLY LINE, AND A SOPPING, DRENCHED SPONGE LEFT UNDER THE FEED.!!! I immediately called Mr. Slattery to inform him of the situation. He apologized profusely, but informed me that me was on his way to a huge construction job in Middletown, and was paying by the hour for a large piece of construction equipment. He would get back to me. I did tell him that the water had been leaking since 3:30 pm yesterday, and that the wood floor was already soaked and lifting. He told me to stop the flood of water by putting a catch pan under the supply line. The large plastic bowl filled up in 7 minutes.The shut off valve did not close it off completely. I went the the hardware store, and picked up a flexible piece of plastic hose which I attached to the feed line and directed the water down the sewer line. I have heard nothing on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday through today, Sunday. NOTHING! I called his office Friday morning asking to leave a message. When the secretary asked who was calling, I identified myself and the address. There was silence for a moment, and she said "my ticket was on my desk for a few days, and now it was gone. Mr Slattery must have it." That was Friday .....It is now Sunday.... I've heard nothing, nothing, nothing from Mr. Slattery... And there is now evidence of a mold smell coming from the bathroom where the disconnected toilet sits in the middle of the floor.. This is not the way Mr. Slattery should be treating a customer. read more
