My horses are no exception and because they are special to me, I always call Chris Howard for shoeing. Imagine a good ole' boy from Oklahoma who drives a really cool farrier truck that plays classic XM satellite C&W songs when shop is set up. Imagine a deep, calming voice that always settles even the youngest of his clients, like my Miz Scarlett. My old boy even falls asleep when his shoes are being put on as he completely trusts Chris not to hurt his feet and knows his gentle hands will take care of him all away around. Chris will always try to accommodate you if you have a special need, like you have a horse show and your horse needs a touch up trim or has thrown a shoe. Or if he is at your stable and you do not have an appointment (even if you are a new client), he will take time before he leaves to see you or schedule an appointment within a few days. And most of all, imagine this good ole' Oklahoma boy with the calming voice saying, "You know your horse is getting Jimmy Choo shoes" or " This is the Manolo Blahnik trim." This horse hadn't been shod for some time and she was in pain, and her lack of attention made her frustrated and impatient. Ryan worked with her with care and concern, regularly having to stand up, take a breath, pat Julie on the chest and start all over again. As a result the shoeing took far longer than normal. In addition, Ryan was clear when one of us (most specifically me) was not being helpful by holding on to her head too tightly or otherwise adding to the problem, which is instructive for me, but also did so in a way that allowed me to learn and wasn't insulting. This is an important aspect of horsemastership by my estimation, I don't know what I don't know, and I value being told. I ended up paying Ryan a third again what his payment might otherwise have been because of the extra time he had to take to get the job done, and because Julie ultimately calmed down and began to cooperate due to his consistent good humor and patience. She ended up with good shoes and is no longer limping. And I'm better informed for next time. All of that tells me that this is a guy who knows how to work with people AND horses, which isn't always the case. HIghly recommended.

I have boarded my horses at EAH and been a client of Autumn's for over 5 years, and I can't say…read moreenough positive things about my experience!! After all this time, I still see her ranch as the pinnacle of boarding facilities. She treats the horses as they were meant to be treated, with daily turnout (REAL turnout! not in dry lots, but legitimate pastures!), and the horses get to be in a herd environment where they create friendships and learn boundaries from each other. When they're not in pasture, the horses have continuous access to hay, which is what horses are meant to have to reach ideal health. If anything, my easy keeper mare needs to lose a couple pounds, lol - but she's happy and chunky! The best part? Autumn does an excellent job of keeping her facility positive, peaceful, and devoid of drama. A very difficult achievement when it comes to boarding facilities! As a trainer, Autumn is very in-tune to the horse and handler's needs. She teaches horse owners how to form a relationship with their horse that is built on the foundation of mutual respect and appreciation for one another. The liberty work and obstacles give you fun and challenging goals that often blow the minds of horse and riders during the process. After working with Autumn, you'll find that your horse genuinely seeks their human out for leadership and love, rather than begrudgingly going to work.
