Walked in around 6:30pm with an 8 top, instantly sat and greeted with a smile by our waitress Julianne within seconds of sitting. Fried pickles, onion rings and clam chowder to start. Pickles were mini-spears, crispy battered and delicious with the onion rings more fried chicken style with sweet onion. Perfect, crunchy and not greasy. No chowder for me but the other 7 did- 5-5 no notes. Dinner was black & bleu burger (meat was seasoned with Cajun spice and wipe-your-chin juicy. Chicken tenders were lightly dusted and tasted like actual chicken and not fryer oil. Chicken Greek salad did not disappoint with more greek ingredients than lettuce and ended up being quite filling for me. Haddock sandwich and seared scallops were both fresh and moist, not overcooked. My youngest ordered loaded cheese fries and finished them for breakfast this morning. Great 90's music in the background and everyone abuzz from the Sox game on the screens (we ended up losing). Left with three deli containers of chowder and two to go containers and full bellies. Solid, honest, fresh food with friendly folks. Recommended and we'll be back next year. And yeah, John. Everyone comments on how great John is. Not doubting his talent, but Julianne is the BEST. Sorry John. Personal pet peeve here. This for those offended by no split checks. A restaurant is a business that is sustained by speed of delivery for food, for drinks and even being greeted. Multiple checks bogs this system down by turning one transaction into 10-12 or how many in your party. Multiply by six other parties with split checks and hopefully you understand where this is headed. I do not speak for the owner nor staff when I say if you expect to go through life with no inconveniences, stay home with your entitlement and negative karma. This place rocks! read more

Pros-John was an excellent and attentive server. The couple who joined us had the steak sandwich and said it was excellent! The garlic mashed potatoes were very good, but caution to those who don't love garlic as they are quite garlic heavy (which we loved!) The beer lines seem to be clean as the Downeast Cider tasted crisp and perfect! The wings were good but after getting medium I think I'd definitely go with mild next time as medium had quite a bite. Cons- the chicken tenders which were recommended were moist but very over fried! Quite disappointing. The mozzarella sticks were also over fried. read more

I couldn't understand why because the drinks were delicious and we had onion rings that were huge and lightly battered and delicious. I watched the server bring amazing looking food to patrons here. We've been telling ourselves that we'll stop in and try their food. The selection in the menu was good and we wanted a lighter fare for mid day. The portions were small for the price especially the quesadillas. Medium buffalo wings and bbq chicken quesadillas. Both were good. WARNING they should have symbols next to the heat of the buffalo wings. The medium were VERY hot and a women at the next table ordered hot and she said the was on fire. One of those I can't believe I didn't come here sooner kinda places. My wife and I split apps. She had the poutine fries while ordered the buffalo chicken nachos. Both servings were very generous. The nachos were great and the fries were really tasty. The bartender was a one man show between creating and seating folks all the while having great conversation with us. 2nd time we have been there for our New Years Family Gathering and this place never disappoints! We like to go early (5-5:30) to avoid the crowd and the service is always very consistent. We had 8 at our table and ordered a variety of dishes, from Greek Salads To salmon on Salad, Haddock, steak tips and wraps. Considering it was Easter Sunday, we were happy that it place was open. When we walked in, it reminded me hundreds of other bar restaurants that I've been in. The decor was sports, skiing, and outdoorsy stuff. A sign told us to seat ourselves. Fortunately, it didn't take long for someone to bring us our menus and take our drink orders. Sightseeing definitely works up an appetite. We were hungry for lunch and were able to get a seat quickly. The restaurant is cute and spread out, so you aren't on top of your neighbor. The menu has something for everyone. I went with the pulled pork sandwich, which came with a house made slaw and delicious house made chips as well. My wife got chicken tenders which came with the best looking onion rings that I had ever seen. So I definitely had to steal one of those! We're in town for one night and cruised the street to eat. We picked this on property looks and YELP reviews. A 15 minute wait to get in, & drinks right away. A Excellent hoppy ipa beer, ROCKPILE. A local beer. For Me. I went for wings n rings. Spicey. Nice n hot. My wife had a good burger with cheese n fried onions. She liked it. My wings were An appetizer plate and enough for a dinner , 12. I would have them again. Our service was exlnt and attentive. The time for the food to come out to us & was twice as long as normal. Too long. The noise level was so loud we could barely talk. Only had drinks here, but it was all fun vibes - the staff and regulars know each other well and make the place a fun spot to hang out. It is a big place & can accommodate large crowds, but we were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves!! (It was mid afternoon in April) The servers were so friendly that by the time we left, I felt like we were all old friends & Lindsey, who prepared our food was the absolute best!! They make everything by hand, the "old fashioned" way, no freezer burnt aftertaste like you might find at other places close by. I had mediocre expectations of this place from the reviews on yelp from the start and I left feeling the same. Our visit started by Abenaki setting boundaries. The first sign you see before you enter is that they will not split checks. OK. The second sign you see after you enter the establishment is to "wait for a hostess, don't just come in. We will come to you." OK. It was just after they opened, so we were seated quickly. Very friendly staff. And I do appreciate how they treat their staff with yearly vacations, etc. Because I had low expectations, we ordered meals that were really hard to screw up. Grilled cheese with tomato and bacon and tomato bisque and a BLT. They also make it very clear on the menu that you cannot request substitutions on any of the menu items due to covid. I am guessing this is because they may be short staffed, but it seems as though every order is made from scratch, so I am not 100% sure why they will not accommodate any substitutions. The burgers that went to the other patrons looked amazing and our food was great. I did manage to upgrade the homemade potato chips for onion rings. The onion rings were a solid upgrade. They were very good, however, that upgrade costs $6. For 6 onion rings. Yep, that's $1 per ring. The rings were good but not worth $1/ring. Overall: Great vibe. Decent food. Be selective on what you order. I would be willing to try this place for a happy hour menu, if they have one. The only real information you can find about Abenaki is on their fb page. read more

I ate here a few years ago and I have to say, it was horrid. The person I was with couldn't finish her meal and I was sure I'd never return. Fast forward: Family and I were up for a weekend and the kids were starving from the car ride. We ended up eating here as the other places had a wait list. I gotta say..... they did an amazing job. The burgers were amazing (best one ever, according to my oldest). Portions were great. High point is the service. Very welcoming and attentive. We were in North Conway in early April. End of ski season. Trails too wet to hike. It's not high tourist season. I was really craving buffalo wings. Abenaki trail topped my search results. I'd driven by it for years, and convinced the family to try a new (to us) place. When we arrived, around 7:00 on a Friday night, there was only one other couple eating. We ordered, and were a little nervous as we waited for our food. The other couple left. We had the place to ourselves. Despite being the only ones in the restaurant, the waitress treated us well and was not upset by a few changes we had to make to our order. The service was great and the food was delicious. The burgers are massive, the buffalo wings are perfectly spicy, and everything was delicious. I'd love to go back when the place has a little buzz to get the full effect.
