Taste of Ireland (starter) but more like a meal!
    Rachel B.

May Kelly's certainly has an eclectic way of being decorated. It has a lot of antique signs and objects throughout. We booked the "red room" for a party of 10 patrons which we scheduled far in advance. The people that were in the room before us ran over on their time, so we had to wait about 18 minutes after our reservation. The room is pretty cramped due to the length of the table, but it was cute and cozy. The max amount of people is 12 in this room. I had the taste of Ireland, which gives you three dishes in sample size: shepherds pie, beef stew & chicken pot pie. For $19.00 (kind of steep) it was okay. You can tell that there's a lot of pride, and it has a "just like mama used to make" method of cooking. Seems like they take a lot of pride in all of their dishes. It seems that everybody truly enjoyed their dishes, even the ones that had salad. Again, it was really nice that we were able to have our very own room. I would certainly come back and have the corned beef and cabbage meal; that's what my mother had and she said it was great. The only negative thing I would say is that our waitress seemed like she was a bit annoyed, having to wait on a large group and we needed to split our checks. Other than that I felt that our service was sufficient.

This was my second time at May Kelly's and it will definitely continue to be a regular stop whenever we are in North Conway! It is such a unique little place with great hospitality and delicious food! It's called May Kelly's Cottage for a reason because the moment you step in you feel like you're in someone's home and you're greeted by a friendly face. The decor is quirky and tables are spread around multiple different rooms. They also have a nice bar area and outdoor space. They have a great menu with both Irish and American classics. Lots of comforting dishes that would hit the spot after a busy day exploring, hiking, or skiing. I had the roast turkey dinner. It was fabulous and included an absolutely enormous portion of tender roasted turkey breast. The turkey gravy was light but still loaded with turkey flavor, and the sides were delicious as well. My husband had the Reuben sandwich with fries. The corned beef was cut in a thick slab and was super tender. The fries were thick cut with skin, and nice and crispy. I was way too full for dessert, but I did have a glass of their homemade Irish cream and it was delightful. Just the right amount of booziness, not too sweet with hints of espresso and chocolate. I highly recommend it! As with many of the restaurants in North Conway they can get very busy. Go at an off time if you don't want to wait, but it's definitely worth the wait!

Outstanding service and very quick. Food was excellent. Guinness was great and Irish options are on point. Highly recommend.

    Kilkenny Cream Ale...yes !

Driven by this place many times usually in a rush to get home after some outdoors activities, fortunately today we had a bit more time to stop in. Great vibe inside and you could take awhile just to look around at the decorations etc. try to spot the stuffed owl. Draft beer! Yeah they have Kilkenny Irish cream ale - a rarer find and now another known purveyor ! Food was great, we shared a pear salad and the roasted turkey sandwich - enough food for a nice lunch. Service was also friendly and prompt.

    Cocktails anyone?

One of the best Irish pubs I've ever been to with authentic Irish food and drinks. Very eclectic ambiance with decorations that ranged from antiques, to classic Guinness memorabilia, to a tribute to It's a Wonderful Life. Loved the seafood reuben I ordered and my wife had the corned beef and cabbage. Yummy. You can lose yourself for hours looking at all the art and memorabilia. Great service.

I felt like good hardy food for our 44th anniversary and May Kerly's didn't disappoint! I made reservations, we were immediately seated and within 10 minutes we had our dinner! The turkey was so tender I did not need to use my knife. The stuffing was very well seasoned and when combined with some cranberry sauce, gravy and turkey was a perfect bite! My husband really enjoyed his chicken pot pie, especially the puff pastry crust. The decor was fun and interesting, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We will go back when in the area!

From the moment I walked into May Kelly's, I knew I was in for something special. The decor is unique and full of Irish character, every corner tells a story! The hostess was incredibly kind and welcoming, The food was delicious and authentic, must try Shepard's pie and corned beef dinner, the Guinness was poured to perfection, and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We were lucky enough to visit on a Sunday and enjoy live Irish music -- it truly felt like being in Ireland. An unforgettable experience!

We stopped at this wonderful restaurant before our long journey home. We hadn't seen such an interior in a tavern for a long time, even though we've traveled a lot. From the very beginning, it felt like we had stepped into a museum, and it was very interesting. The restaurant has a fireplace, which creates a festive and cozy atmosphere. Amazing fish and chips!! Three nice sized servings, filling and plenty for extra! Coleslaw was also so yummy! Fries weren't my fav, but personal preference. Still would order again.

My Irish gal at one of May Kelly's high-tops

We happened to be "in the neighborhood" for this past St. Patrick's Day and wanted to enjoy the vibe at an Irish Pub if we could. Well, we and EVERYONE else with the same idea descended on May Kelly's (one of only two or three Irish Pubs in the area--and likely the most popular). Our strategy was to come in the middle of the day--after the early crowd and before the late crowd--but they were still slammed. We got extremely lucky and were able to be seated at a 2-person high-top in the bar area that someone had just vacated.  Of course, it was a bit chaotic--it was St. Paddy's Day--but the bartenders who cared for the small bar and the high-tops were attentive. After a discussion about what I like, the bartender/server recommended an Irish whisky, and we looked over the large menu. Given the holiday, we went full-on Irish: me a Traditional Irish Shepherd's Pie and her a Corned Beef & Cabbage. Both were very good.  Overall, it was a great experience, and while we may skip trying to do this again on St. Patrick's Day, we will be sure to pop into May Kelly's when we are in the area.

Pickles were mini-spears, crispy battered and delicious with the onion rings more fried chicken style with sweet onion. Perfect, crunchy and not greasy. Chicken tenders were lightly dusted and tasted like actual chicken and not fryer oil. Haddock sandwich and seared scallops were both fresh and moist, not overcooked. My youngest ordered loaded cheese fries and finished them for breakfast this morning. Great 90's music in the background and everyone abuzz from the Sox game on the screens (we ended up losing). Left with three deli containers of chowder and two to go containers and full bellies. Solid, honest, fresh food with friendly folks. Recommended and we'll be back next year. And yeah, John. Everyone comments on how great John is. Not doubting his talent, but Julianne is the BEST. Sorry John. Personal pet peeve here. This for those offended by no split checks. A restaurant is a business that is sustained by speed of delivery for food, for drinks and even being greeted. Multiple checks bogs this system down by turning one transaction into 10-12 or how many in your party. Multiply by six other parties with split checks and hopefully you understand where this is headed. I do not speak for the owner nor staff when I say if you expect to go through life with no inconveniences, stay home with your entitlement and negative karma. This place rocks!
