Bacon and eggs set right nice with home fries ready to bite.

Food was great! Company too. Service refined to a charm of the grand view. Breakfast and dinner all beyond what other seem to do, to be the best of the best, that Jackson has for you! Feast your eyes on the meals as we do, for the drinks had us jolly before we knew. Not much leftover for we consumed all the stew, and then some , way beyond this review.

If you find yourself in Jackson, you gotta stop by this place. We had both brunch & dinner on the veranda, that made for a great meal with a view. Brunch: in general, all menu items were solid. Nothing extraordinary but still tasty and filling Dinner: The St. Louis bbq rips were cooked to a T. The meat slipped right off the bone as it should. The scallops were soft and melted with every chew. The salmon succeeded in juiciness and crispness, plus went tastefully with the micro greens. Finally, the filet mignon was cooked accurately to my requested preference and the seasoned green beans enhanced the flavor profile. Dessert: we got the creme brûlée but the real winner is the Maine blueberry cake that was served warm with their creamy maple ice cream. All in all, the friendly service, well-cooked meal, & beautiful landscape made for a pleasant night all for a reasonable price. Definitely give Highlands a try for a taste of vacation relaxation!

The outside is unsuspecting and our hopes were not very high as it is fairly difficult to find decent food in the area. We were pleasantly surprised! We arrived 30 minutes before they opened (unaware they were closed) and were still met with kindness and helpful staff who made a reservation for us for when they opened. We sat outside which was perfect with a toddler. Staff were very friendly and service was great. We were skeptical of the menu as it is limited but all of our meals were excellent. We were even shocked by the quality of the kids Alfredo with shrimp. Everything tasted fresh. A little pricey but worth every penny. Will absolutely be back!

A small bar as you enter that was full when we came in. We sat at a small table in the bar area. Everyone was very nice and our waitress was attentive enough - but she seemed a bit busy. But all was fine service wise. So....the food. It's weird. Like trying too hard to be different but just didn't hit the mark for me. I see bread on a menu and I get excited! So immediately I ordered the Parmesan bread with dill pickle butter. The bread was warm and I enjoyed it but the butter with dill pickle just didn't work for me. Lots of other things to me could have complemented the bread better. Then we order the lettuce wraps, they were ok. My friend ordered the duck and I tried it and we both really liked it! The vegetables were good! My sirloin....the steak itself was good despite being a tad overcooked for medium rare. Something on the plate had a curry flavor - it just didn't all go together well. Then the lemon ricotta cheesecake....we didn't taste any lemon, it was thick and weirdly dry for a cheesecake. It also had freeze dried something on top....we actually weren't sure what. Some bright spots - the food quality! You can tell that these are top notch high quality ingredients, and the cocktails! They were yummy! I just don't like the weird combos and what (to me) feels like being weird for the sake of being different versus just being good. Since I only come up here a few times a season I likely will go to our other favorites or try new spots.

This place was recommended by an older local couple that we love to visit every time we come to the area First of all, GENEROUS wine pours. I was happily shocked and buzzed after one glass of Malbec. Second, the servings of food are not small. We noticed other tables taking their leftovers in to-go containers. Baby, we're not in Kansas anymore (NYC). And lastly, the food is so fresh and delicious--the menu changes seasonally and is sourced from local farms, of course! Apps: Pan seared scallops over homemade crisp potato cakes, fresh corn puree, and a red pepper coulis--divine. Charred grilled octopus with heirloom tomatoes, cannellini beans, sweet red peppers, castelvetrano olives, and grilled lemon--an absolutely elevated cephalopod. Entrees: Roasted statler chicken with Yukon gold mashed potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts, and cipollini onions surrounded by a garlic white wine pan jus--very mild bird and excellent sauce And my favorite... Filet mignon seared perfectly rare, with mashed potatoes mixed with blue cheese crumbles, wilted greens, more caramelized cipollinis, all topped with a red wine demi glaze We were so well taken care of--the meal, the service, the view!!! We'll happily take another 6 hour drive just to return and do it again. Cheers!

A nice cozy setting with comfort food, to boot. We were seated in the back room, with a great view of the mountains. They took the time to add a little diagram of which ones you were looking at. {See Pictures}. Many years ago, I worked at a very waspy/blue blood Country Club, where the food resembled the menu. Old American standards that stood the test of time. However, at Oxford House, they aren't afraid to experiment with ingredients outside of the norm. Like Charred Grilled Octopus and Pan Seared Scallops over Crispy Potato Cakes; which were our appetizers. For entrees, we had Filet Mignon and Roasted Chicken. (See photos for complete description). The bread basket was a nice added bonus. We were quite full but had to try, and split, one dessert. Maine Blueberry Pie À la Mode. Which was the right choice. As we watched the sun go down, it was a perfect end to our vacation. Next time, I'll try and get a table on the large front porch. Honorable Mention: They pour a nice glass of wine (4 Fingers)

We explained that we wanted to watch the TV downstairs so we could watch tennis. She was very aggravated, as if we were not going there for dinner. There was nobody else in the restaurant other than one person. Finally, she placed the menus face down on the table and said it might be a couple of minutes before the waitress got there. We said fine, but we were very unhappy with the way we were treated. Half an hour later, no waitress had come at all. My wife said, "I'm out of here." We left voiced are displeasure . We said this is terrible way to treat customers and left. What I should say this is not away to treat human beings who come in, especially when my wife was already very aggravated and we do not need that in her condition. Something has to be done about the person at the reception who seats you at your table, because she must have said something to the waitress, since she did not come for 30 minutes. We were just trying to get a couple of tonics and an appetizer to watch tennis, which I thought was fine. I will never go back there again, and anyone who does should really reconsider.

I chose the White Rabbit since it's not too often you see carrot used in a drink. It had a good balance of sake, carrot and nutmeg. Benedictine rounded out the flavor profile. I liked that aquafaba (the water from chickpeas) was used for the foam as opposed to egg whites. The food was on point too. Seafood chowder had a nice texture with moderate amount of tender scallops and whitefish. It was more peppery than others. Kale and Brussels was well dressed and the miso stood out. Mildly spicy at the start but the spice built up as you ate it. Duck tacos had a good mix with spicy green apple salsa and watermelon radish. It paired well with the duck although I think it would work with any protein. The chef's fish was cod that absorbed the miso marinade perfectly. Oyster mushrooms were the perfect accompaniment. This sat on a bed of rice noodles. It was sufficient, but found myself wanting a noodle that could hold more of the sauce. The dish was adorned with a fried crispy rice cracker that was a favorite of mine growing up. I also tried a bit of my friend's chicken and farro. Chicken was juicy and flavor was excellent with the chicken flavor enhanced by the spices/glaze used. Farro tabbuleh did embody the flavors of the original tabbuleh (usually consisting of bulgar wheat and parsley with lemon) with a heartier texture. Service was excellent. They were attentive without being intrusive. They waited for us to finish our starters before bringing out our mains. When our utensils were refreshed they were placed on top of a new napkin. Lots of places just put it directly on to the table. I'll be sure to stop by again if I'm in the area.
