Had dinner last night on the verdana at the Eagle Mountain House. It was Excellent. It was Simple beet and squash salad with grilled chicken. It was absolutely wonderful. Fresh, grilled chicken was cooked perfectly and for a small dinner salad,it was huge The atmosphere was relaxing and the server was attentive and did not rush us. My husband and I stayed at the Eagle Mountain House during our recent NH trip. We were unable to book reservations for the dining room, but luckily was able to be served sitting at the bar. We were both starving, so we decided to start off with the Loaded Nachos and added the Beef and Chorizo Chili. We had plans to order entrees for dinner, but the nachos ended up being huge and filling - and delicious! After waiting a bit to digest, we ordered the Red Velvet Cake for dessert to share. Red velvet is my absolute favorite, and I have to say this one was high up my list - my husband doesn't care much for red velvet, but even he really enjoyed this one. Next time we're here I'd love to try an entree and definitely get the cake again! read more

My son and I were staying at another inn down the street and the reviews for this restaurant looked great, so I thought I'd give it a try. I made a reservation for the main dining room. It looked fairly empty but the host seemed overwhelmed. He greeted us with a sigh, then grumbled that they were out of kids menus and that he'd need to go and print some more. He instructed me to "just go and sit wherever". The ambiance was old fashioned, a little stuffy. Not upscale, more like you're visiting elderly relatives. There was no music, so you couldn't help but listen to every other conversation in the dining room. It took a while for a server to approach us, but when he finally did, he was warm and helpful. He also seemed overwhelmed- I think he was the only one working. I ordered a glass of wine, a Caesar salad and the lobster ravioli for myself and a chocolate milk and chicken tenders meal for my son. The food came out very quickly and for the most part, tasted fine. The salad was a little bit overdressed and wilted and the raviolis were fairly one note but there were a lot of them. It was an okay experience overall, but there are so many other options in this area, I don't think I'd rush back. read more

Stopped at Eagle Landing Tavern for drinks and apps. The drinks were very well made. The food was delicious, fresh and flavorful ingredients. The wings were perfectly cooked, crispy skin on the outside, juicy meat on the inside. The sticky cake was delicious too! What happened? When you think Pork belly, what comes to mind? I'll tell you - thick cuts of delicious, buttery, fatty, salty, crispy skin pork belly. That's what! The pork belly served? About five thin slices on a tiny plate of rice. And the braised short ribs? Eh. So dry! I mean dry! And come on, everyone knows you serve short ribs with a carrot or two! This came with a sauce and whipped potatoes. That's it. Breakfast was a disgrace. The pancakes were so dry, too. No amount of syrup could save them. The eagle bowl with two poached eggs - what a disappointment! The poached eggs were pretty much hard boiled. Last time I got them there, the delicious runny yolk was what made this dish! It was just a bowl of home fries with two very over done eggs on top. ONE piece of sausage, too. When I say one piece, I don't mean a link-I mean a bite. Horrible!! Service was great, though. If you find yourself in Jackson, you gotta stop by this place. We had both brunch & dinner on the veranda, that made for a great meal with a view. Brunch: in general, all menu items were solid. Nothing extraordinary but still tasty and filling Dinner: The St. Louis bbq rips were cooked to a T. The meat slipped right off the bone as it should. The scallops were soft and melted with every chew. The salmon succeeded in juiciness and crispness, plus went tastefully with the micro greens. Finally, the filet mignon was cooked accurately to my requested preference and the seasoned green beans enhanced the flavor profile. Dessert: we got the creme brûlée but the real winner is the Maine blueberry cake that was served warm with their creamy maple ice cream. All in all, the friendly service, well-cooked meal, & beautiful landscape made for a pleasant night all for a reasonable price. We had a nice dinner here for New Year's Eve, but nothing truly special. It took about 15min for us to be acknowledged by our server which was a little irksome, but once he arrived the service was good throughout the meal. The server warned me that the Lobster Bisque was salty and I decided to try it for myself...oh yes, it was salty. The highlight of the meal were the lamb chops as they were cooked perfectly with roasted veggies and mashed potatoes. For dessert they had run out of the creme brule so I ordered the strawberry cake and...it was the size and taste of something you'd get at a wedding. The atmosphere is casual and bright so don't expect to come here for a romantic dinner with dark lighting. Our meal was nice overall but we won't be back. read more

The service was good, but the food was nothing amazing. The menu felt like the exact same menu that every restaurant here has. Nothing stood out as being creative or interesting. The bread (and maple butter of course) was very good, as has been the bread and maple butter at every other restaurant we have been to. The sweet potato soup was good, but very sweet and creamy. The caesar salad was pretty bland and the lettuce wimpy. The miso salmon was alright, but the sauce on top of the salmon was overly sweet and the salmon itself was very plain. The chicken in the stuffed chicken was decent, as were the sweet potato mash it was served on, but I wasn't a fan of the stuffing. The flourless chocolate cake was good, but it should have been served with ice cream of some sort and was boring on its own. I wouldn't go again. read more

The food here is very good and worth the price. It is obvious upon first bite that you're eating the food of a skilled chef who really cares about the meal they're making. Views from the veranda are beautiful but the dining room is also cozy, especially in the winter around the holidays. The service here is also incredible and made my entire stay in the hotel feel special. Also, the bar area (kind of the restaurant but also it's own thing) is a great place to watch football! read more

Visiting the Beautiful and Quaint New Hampshire town of Jackson. Found out about Eagle Landing Tavern and Highfield's Restaurant while staying at this charming Historic Hotel. It is in the beautiful historic Eagle Mountain House. The dishes are tastefully prepared with fresh quality ingredients & they had Good wine & cocktail selections. Their Wonderful Bistro menu was available on Wednesday and Thursday and included very tasty French Onion soup and a beautiful garnished Chicken and Mozzarella Panini Sandwich. Pan seared scallops and prime rib dinner were amazing. !!! Mike our dinner server and bar tender made amazing drinks with speedy service. We stayed the night at the hotel which is pet friendly with a small pet fee. The room was comfortable and super clean. This is a historic building so don't expect a modern feel. Doug checked us in, and completely answered my wife's may questions about the area and the hotel's history. At checkout, Ted showed me to the complementary coffee and offered more area information. I wish I could give more stars, but after eating here for a second time, the food was disappointing once again. The presentation is great, but their dishes lack flavor and quality that one expects from a restaurant serving more upscale menu items like filet Mignon and scallops. The French onion soup I had was the lacking traditional flavor of a classic soup and the risotto and filling of my pork tenderloin was extremely bland. My favorite item happened to be their rolls and honey butter. Would love to see some improvements if I decide to dine there again. read more

Yelp steered us correctly in this case. We came here for lunch after our mount Washington outing. The view from the dinning porch is fantastic! You're overlooking some mini mountains and the golf course while having local beers and food. The hotel is a grand national historic site. The food is quite tasty and sophisticated and affordable (I would have expected higher prices given the quality ambiance). Finally there are waterfall/rapids on the way up that you can park and Wade in on the way to or from your meal. read more

This is a fantastic place rich with history and atmosphere that is reminiscent of years gone by yet elegant and charming for those looking for a delightful experience. The brunch menu is more that reasonable and in fact for cost rivals basic eateries. Options on the buffet included fresh fruit, fresh berries, whipped cream, cereals, French toast and syrups, waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs, & eggs Benedict, country potatoes, oj, cranberry juice, apple juice, toast, English muffins, jelly butter and jam, coffee, and an assortment of alcoholic breakfast beverages, all paired with an excellent service staff that leaving you feeling as though you were royalty. Spending New Year's holiday at Eagle Mountain House is a family tradition. We have experienced ups and downs here as managers and staff change. Earlier this week we decided to have dinner at Highfields , the Eagle's dining room, because it was snowing. We had a very unprofessional waiter, who took our plates away without asking if we were done and who was in such a rush to see us go, he did not ask if we wanted coffee after dinner. Quality of meals was ok--burger & fries were good; stuffed chicken had very little stuffing and was covered in a tasteless white sauce. Desert was limited. A similar menu is found at most of the local restaurants. Breakfast at Highfields is comprised of a very basic buffet: French toast, scrambled eggs etc. Nothing special and not piping hot. 0ur breakfast tab for 3 was $37, very overpriced for what we got. A more varied and creative menu at breakfast and dinner, as well as friendlier and well trained staff would help Eagle Mountain up its game. read more

We were staying at the Eagle Mountain House and figured we'd give the restaurant a try for dinner. We went with the pumpkin ravioli and fig jam flatbread and really enjoyed both. Our ten year old had the kids' buffet and was very satisfied. The dining room is made up of multiple big rooms so can handle a lot of people. I would definitely go back. read more

We ate in the Tavern with Kelly as our server. She was also the bartender but you would have never known because of the great service she provided us. We ordered mushrooms and wings as an app and both of us enjoyed them. We then ordered our meals I got the crispy chicken BLT and my husband got the Burger, he said it was the best burger he ever ate. We have eaten at the Restaurant in the past and have always been impressed with the food and service. Our only disappointment was they took the lobster mac and cheese off the menu. read more

The staff is friendly, the food is okay, and the atmosphere is homey. We had the rolls with the tray of butters and oil, which was a nice touch. I ordered the warm turkey sandwich and the ingredients were good except the turkey was really dry. My boyfriend got the steak, which he reported was "underwhelming".
