We found this cabin on VRBO and vacationed here twice, so far. Incredibly nice owners and a…read morebeautiful house. It's not right on the lake, but up on a hill above the owners' house. But that shouldn't be and hasn't been a problem. There's an included six-passenger golf cart to ride down the hill and back up (and I guess to ride anywhere else, although there's really nowhere else to go within golf cart range). The house itself is more than a cabin. It is three levels of wood-walled beauty, inside and out. The main floor has a remote-controlled gas fireplace, a smallish TV and sound system, and several recliners. There is a dinette table with seating for maybe 8 and a kitchen with an island. The main bedroom is here, with no en suite bathroom...you have to leave the master bedroom to pee. But it is a large bedroom with east- and south facing windows. The lake is to the north. Outside, towards the lake, there's a protected wooden deck with a bench and a very large patio table and chairs. A screen door leads out to the gas grill and front porch. Heading up, there is a loft with two twin-sized beds hanging from chains. I never slept in these, incredibly. There's a desk area at the top of the stairs, overlooking the main level and a small balcony that looks south. Nothing too exciting here. There's a stairwell on the main level down to the lower level that begins right outside of the door to the main level bathroom and bedroom. I was never drunk enough to accidentally tumble down it, but beware this navigational hazard. And if you are taller than maybe 6'0" (I'm 6'4" and had to duck quite a bit), you need to proceed with caution, as the 90-degree turn to the left halfway down has a low clearance. The downstairs has a large common area, with a couch, big TV, gaming console, and a kitchenette with fridge. There's also a bathroom with a cool glass block shower. A bedroom with double bunk beds has a utility room with a washer and dryer...these come in handy if you'll be here for more than a couple of days. Head outside on the bottom level and you'll find a pleasant area with a fire pit (and supplied and seasoned wood), a wooden deck with a picnic table, which is covered by the wooden deck of the main floor. A concrete walk curves around and up to the parking area and main floor porch. The main floor porch has some comfy, rustic, wooden rocking chairs that are ideal for sitting in, drinking coffee, and appreciating a quiet morning. This is also how you enter the cabin when you get here. Overall, our two stays here were great. We'll be back, at some point. If you are looking to visit the area, check it out. [I took about a hundred pictures of this place and uploaded them previously, but I deleted them afterwards and they no longer show up. Sorry!]

A little background: we have hunted before and are both well-traveled, especially my father--we went on two African safaris, for instance. All our expectations were either met or exceeded by the fine facilities and staff at Wynfield. First of all and most importantly, the people--from the administrative staff and general manager to the cooks and guides--could not have been more gracious, personable, and accommodating from the moment we first called to the moment we left. We very much enjoyed talking with Kurt and our guide Randy, in particular. Since it was my first quail hunt, Kurt let me have a free Wynfield hat to commemorate the occasion--and they didn't charge me when I asked to buy a Wynfield coffee mug, either. The food was excellent and varied, and bottled water and soda were always on hand (and, after the afternoon hunt, beer, wine, and cocktails as well). Cold water and soda were even available--and frequently offered--while out on the hunt. Our cabin was likewise more than satisfactory, with cable TV, mini-fridge, coffee machine, toaster, central AC/heat, comfortable beds, and delightful interior decorating. It was also spacious and clean, and they provided housekeeping each day while we were out on the hunt. As for the hunting itself, it was by far the best hunting experience I have ever had. The quail are plentiful, the guides are extremely capable, and the dogs are simply amazing. They are also very flexible and accommodating when it comes to the hunt--they told me, for example, how they enabled someone paralyzed from the waist down to hunt from the jeep (there are seats out front on the jeeps for the hunters and kennels on the back for the dogs).

The owners seem pleasant and they left goodies in a basket as you walk in. WiFi works well and the door number key access is convenient. They let you know that the house backs up to the woods so that bugs CAN be a problem, but that they do spray. That being said, in the master bedroom there's a door that asks you not to open it (it leads to an outdoor balcony) but you can see light sleeping around the door. Perfect place to let bugs in. And I'm assuming you're not supposed to go out on the balcony because it's unsafe. Because there's dry rot and water damage visible on the exterior of the house. 2 (out of 5 booked) nights, 5 roaches and at least 50 bug bites later (all over my arms and legs) we left and found a hotel. I woke the second night because of the itching from the bites. The overall photos they provide are deceiving. The house feels dirty. It's in DIRE need of professional cleaning AND upgrades. The amateur renovation is obvious and makes the house feel dirtier. I don't recommend this place.

With 6 of our 7 travelers being high risk( 2 sets of grandparents, a 7 month pregnant daughter and a 2 year old with health issues) we will need to cancel our trip. Of course no refund now but they'll be happy to reschedule next year. (The rate will be about $1,000 more because of new owners) I don't think the beach will be open, and will we even be able to use the pool if we went??? Restaurants closed and shelter in place order??? Next year rental isn't feasible for us .... Also when talking to the rep on the phone, was told not to email the owner because he won't respond anyway.. she was sorry about no refund policy. STAY AWAY FROM THIS AGENCY. USE VRBO instead.... I will be giving this rental agency plenty of free advertising.... PM

In anticipation of my son in laws return from a several months long deployment to the Middle East aboard a USS Naval aircraft carrier, I booked a lovely condo on 30A, through VRBO and Sanders Beach Rentals. I originally booked this celebration weekend on January 17th for Memorial Day weekend this coming May, giving Sanders Beach Rentals the amount required to reserve. The second and final payment was due on March 23. When in early March the COVID19 crisis skyrocketed to the attention to the entire world, like everyone else, our 'normal' life was put on hold. My Son in Law's deployment was extended and he his now to be on the ship until at least mid June. My husband works for Delta Air Lines, and is not working at all for an uncertain amount of time. Our March 23 date of payment for the beach condo came and went and when I was finally able to speak with Sanders Beach Rentals, I was told I was out of luck. Not only would they not cancel my reservation and refund my initial payment (for a reservation that was 54 days away I might add) they would not offer a partial refund, an alternative date or a credit with their company. I called VRBO and was told that THEIR company was trying to assist their customers at this time of crisis, and they were certain that Sanders Beach Rentals would comply when they spoke with them. I am sure that Sanders Beach Rentals has very nice properties for vacation rentals, and that they do all that they can to accommodate their renters WHEN THEY ARE MAKING MONEY and the renters are on property, but I just wanted to share with anyone considering using them for their vacation needs ... God help you if you need some understanding and kindness, because it will not be there.

We were told that there were some interesting and fun things to do in Dothan, AL, just 30 or so minutes from the Florida/Alabama border. As we made our way to Dothan, we stopped at the Alabama Welcome Center. I'm so glad that we stopped! The two women working in the reception area were both very friendly and helpful. We visited on the first Friday of June late in the morning. They gave us a few pointers on what to see in Dothan like the many murals on buildings and invited us to browse the many travel brochures available. When we asked about the peanut outside the building, the two ladies told us that there are 80+ peanut 'statues' displayed throughout Dothan. Peanuts are a big crop in the Dothan area. We had fun trying to find peanuts displayed by local businesses while as we spent the afternoon in Dothan. Our favorite was the peanut doughnut man in front of the Krispy Kreme. The restrooms were clean and properly stocked. Large maps in the foyer area made it easy to see how we could travel the roads in Alabama. I never thought I would enjoy a rest area so much but the welcome we received plus the information available made our stop productive and fun.
