Aberdeen Centre, in my opinion, is a souped up Pacific Mall (in Toronto) with better restaurants and stores. Arguably, I believe it is the best Asian themed mall in Canada (miles better than Pacific Mall or First Markham Place in the GTA). The mall screams Asian even when you enter the lot, because the first thing you'll have to deal with if you're driving is drivers who don't know how to park, and drivers who station themselves in the middle of the laneway looking for parking. Yup. The true Asian experience! Good thing the Canada Line stops here, because Entering the mall itself, it was definitely one of the most modern Asian malls I've ever been to, and I think it's one of the newest in Canada as well. The biggest attraction in the mall is easily Daiso, as I saw several people shopping there during my time wandering around the mall. There's also excellent food choices in the mall (they have a Guu in here!). The only thing I was shocked to not see in Aberdeen was a T&T, but I learned after there's a T&T across the street at Yaohan. I can imagine how this mall would be even busier if the T&T was moved here. Aberdeen Centre is probably the top standard of Asian malls, and I have not been to a mall (even in the GTA) that compares to it. Probably my only complaint would be the slightly confusing parking/exiting situation, and I wasn't the only one who got confused exiting the maze of a parking lot. read more

Loved coming to this mall when my sister & I visited Vancouver 2 years ago. Our favorite part of the mall was daiso & the last level aka "food heaven". It had a large selection of asian foods, ranging from bubble waffles, curry fish balls, noodles & rice dishes, bubble tea, udon, japanese, laksa, etc. On our last day at Vancouver, we ate our dinner here and we ate from different vendors (can not fully remember what we ate) but they were all delicious and tasted quite authentic. Fun part was that next to the food court, they had an arcade section. The mall is very clean, and quite fun. I wish NYC's mall was as nice as aberdeen's. read more

Just take your typical indoor shopping mall and... Asian-fy it. This place is pretty big with most of the stores owned by either Japanese, Korean, or Chinese. Many of the stores even are similar to those you can find in Asia, such as those "cube" shops where you rent a cube monthly and shell your own things. It's always fun to go into those and see what new fangled things are coming from Asia. Plenty of girls were buying cute little stationery and even tights? I heard they have these that "sculp" and "tones" your legs... crazy Asians. There's also a Candyland for Asian candy fanatics, and clothing boutiques if that's your style. The foodcourt is mostly Chinese, actually Cantonese, but there is a good selection. There are vendors focusing on porridge, rice plates, or even desserts. They also have a Strawberry Cones, a Japanese specialty pizza place that came up with "mochi teriyaki chicken pizza." We did get a slice to try but the mall counterpart falls a little short compared to an actual Strawberry Cone pizzeria. Parking is absolutely horrible. Too many Asians all driving as if they are still in Asia. I saw one trying to back into a spot over 10+ times before she finally got it... way to validate stereotypes, sigh. Overall, I like this place. It's always nice to have somewhere warm to walk around when it's a rainy day outside and the mall just feels spacious, thanks to the fountain area. read more

Bypass the stores...and head straight to the food court!!! This is not your typical American mall food court with an assortment of fast food chain eateries. There is an assortment of tantalizing Asian snacks/food/desserts that tempt you as you walk by.....I fell victim to the following even after eating a large brunch: Leung Kee: FRIED CHICKEN WINGS.....crispy goodness on the outside with juicy white meat on the inside. The flavor is spot on! Three wings may not seem like a lot per order, but these wings are on steroids! Frappe Bliss: YUM! So there's the American snow cone which is not spectacular by any means, and then Hawaiian shave ice (Matsumoto's/Waiola's) which is good....and then there is the Frappe Bliss which is BOMB DIGGITY!!! The ice is flavored (milk, yogurt, strawberry, mango...) and shaved so fine that it looks like coconut flakes....literally every bite is like air. My preferred combo is the milk frappe ice with lychee, mango, rice balls! I went here twice in one weekend, that's how much I enjoyed this place! Beard Papas: cream puff heaven....supposedly low calorie....I question this fact, but none the less very good. This is a chain, but for some reason BC version seems better than the US counterparts. Can you say milk tea and mango flavored cream?! 8 Juice: Order the #1 drink, mango with pomelo juice, extremely refreshing and addicting... Shanghai Shanghai: Thick Shanghai noodles were tasty but nothing spectacular Oh, and a side note...I didn't get a chance to visit Fisherman's Terrace this time around, but it's an upscale dim sum restaurant on the same floor as the food court. The line is usually ridiculously long even if you do make a reservation. The seating is really tight, but the food is really good. A tad more expensive than most of the other dim sum restaurants, but they have quite a few dim sum dishes you don't normally see at other places (I.e. bitter melon balls with sesame paste....actually quite good surprisingly). Only disadvantage, no carts coming around so you have to know what you are ordering. read more

This Asian mall has unique stores that are fun to check out for something different or if you are just missing Asia. Specifically, the two floor Daiso (Japanese dollar store chain) has great finds for a Toonie or more. There is a large food court with many delicious options to choose from and many meals are under ten bucks. The mall itself is spacious and well maintained in general. My only complaint is the high chairs in the food court. Most of the chairs had either broken seatbelts or no seatbelts which makes it unsuitable and unsafe for your baby or toddler, so parents beware! read more

Kudos for getting better and better food restaurants, the real kind. Sure, losing Tropika was a blow for me, but the Korean resto, Dinesty, and the HK cafe upstairs have more than make up for it. Plus at the retail level, the quality is getting higher due to the mainlanders coming over. The new gym also helps too. read more

On my last day in BC Canada, we had dim sum at Hot Pot One and briefly visited this mall. Lots of cute little stores - very trendy Asian. I especially enjoyed all the cute toy stores. The clothes looked nice but may be more expensive compared to American stores like H&M/Forever 21. Minus 1 star for food court not opening on time. The mall opened at 11am but many food court stores were not ready to serve. I wanted to try some boba drinks and the famous Wo Fung chicken wings but they would not be ready to serve until 12:30-12:45 and I had to leave at 12 to catch a flight. Minus another star for "No taking picture" policy which was NOT posted anywhere. We were tourists...of course we were going to take pictures. My BF was pulled aside by the security guard and was told "You need to come with me. You can't take pictures." They took him down to the security center and told him the same thing and then let him go. I guess my BF needed to be told twice and to make it "official" he had to go to the security center. Weird.... In the end, we got to keep all the pictures we took. Please enjoy the photos!!! Despite the -2 star, I will definitely come back to shop, try the foodcourt, and not take picturues. I'll just have to plan on visiting the mall on "Asian" time.... read more

This mall is pretty much just like Crystal mall over in Burnaby as they're both asian oriented, but this place has MUCH BETTER parking as opposed to over there. Secondly, this place is pretty much just like any other shopping center or mall, but if you're looking for Asian items, particularly Chinese oriented, then this place is the way to go. They sell Chinese herbal items, Book Store, Japanese Daiso store (similar concept as Dollar store) and a few common stores that you'll see in pretty much all stores like electronic stores such as Bell, Rogers and a TV/computer stores. They also have a couple of restaurants here, but was disappointed at the noodle joint they have there. But despite that though, its not a bad place to grab a bite to eat. But I do recommend the Saboten Japanese Cutlet Express and Aji Hana, which is located in the food court, if you wanted something to eat. All and all, this place feels very large and chances are, you'll bump into something that might snag your interest in this mall. read more

Nothing says Vancouver loves you better than this sweet place. The last time I came here was when I was still in high school. I have to declare only in Canada can you not get bored of a shopping mall. It's a place with many areas to meet for business, have a nice lunch and just have a grand ole time. Staff members here are nice and professional and speak 3 languages of people's preference. French and Chinese are included with English. The size is as big as a Westfield shopping center that you see in the US. In most cases it's bigger that your typical Asian shopping center. It almost felt as if you stepped into Singapore, Hong Kong or Tokyo when you walk around the area. My friends in both the United States and Eastern Canada have good views of this place. I personally like this place because it's close to sky train station. You can't get any more calm and convenient than this. read more

Pretty big mall located at No. 3 Road and Cambie. It can get super traffic in this area so come early. Also, parking is terrible so be patient and allow extra time when meeting for dim sum with family and friends. I like this mall because it is spacious and consistently clean. They have an awesome Asian store called Daiso, which is a great alternative to the Dollar Store. It is a cute store and they sell almost everything and anything you need at home. They also have hairdressing services, a lot of Asian clothing stores and a bookstore. The food court on the 3rd floor is the busiest in the whole mall. It is almost never empty. I like most of the food that is offered upstairs, especially bubble tea. Fresh fruit is where it's at. I recommend Estea and 8 Juice. They are located right in front of the escalator as you arrive 3rd floor. The mall is now connected to Aberdeen Square which is accessible on the 2nd floor. It is kind of hidden but there are signs to help you locate the Square. read more

I didnt see anything I needed, I liked the Daiso store which is basically a $2 store for household items. I went here mainly for the food court.....wow! I had soy sauce chicken and rice with some veggies. I like it simple and it was quite tasty. All kinds of good eats, so I had to cruise around the court before I made my decision. A lot of fruit smoothie places, bubble tea, good snack foods, congee combo meals, chicken n rice dishes, noodle dishes. Most of the places were cash only.....so be sure to bring cash. Love this mall because there are unusual stores. The mall also has wonderful displays which is refreshing from the mundane US malls. The atrium offers a state-of-the-art musical fountain show hourly from noon. This shopping center is an architectural showcase where organic forms integrate with curved interior terraces. Three levels of shopping follow a gracefully curved central galleria anchored at one end by a massive amphitheatre-style Court. The ceiling is dominated by randomly sized skylights which will bathe everything in natural light. The open sight lines from every level allow you a clear view from the Food Court on the third level. Outside, the Centre's glass facade is composed of varying tints and types of glass lear, translucent and opaque. This brings the inside out, creating a dynamic display of lighting, colour, signage and reflections for a distinctive look day and night like a modern urban lantern. I wonder how many visitors noted that. Food court offered a great variety of food. A definite step up from Panda Express (LOL). Not quite Hong Kong standards but a good compromise. read more

Been to a lot of "Chinese" malls, this one, I felt kind of bored. One highlight for the kid, the music water show. The food court itself was decent, quite a lot of choices that make it hard to choose. It's quite big and spacious but I don't know if it was just time I went (Thursday at 5p), but quite a few stores were closed. Also, they seemed rather boring too. It has supermarket and some snack shops. Probably not enough as I walk around probably for food safety, but I can get hungry walking around. There is a lot of parking, but also some stupid drivers who think revving their engines and speeding in an indoor parking lot makes sense. read more

Also there are some professional offices, for example, law firms, consulting firms and travel agences. I like this new mall. So my friend asked me if I've been to Aberdeen Centre in Richmond area which supposedly is the epitome of Asian shopping malls. After reading all the positive reviews on this, I had to see for myself! So when I first enter I'm confused, this mall is hugeeeeeeeee. It's clean, and very modern looking. The fountain looks pretty nice. I decide to randomly go in to a Japanese-style clothing store when two ladies working there stare at me and follow me around and around like I am going to steal something! Then she starts showing me a cute dress and tells me that it's new. I say "oh that looks cute!" to not look stupid then the ladies wouldn't stop following around so I get out of there. I go in to another small clothing store, which I won't name. I see a cute dress on the mannequin I'm interested in. .................................. Her: This one is very nice. Very Sexy. New arrival. Me: Looks nice. Can I try it? Her: *looks happy* yes! and this one also very sexy. Very special. Try! Me: Ok, i want to try. *After trying the clothes* Her: Do you want it? Her: WHy you don't come out with the dress????? I want to see!!!!!!! Me: I'm shy .... Me: I take this one. This one how much? Her: hmm..let me check. *pretends to look at a price tag, when there isn't a price..comes up with a random number* This one now, is 188 dollars. BUT, I GIVE YOU SPECIAL PRICE NOW IS ONLY *punches in a number on a calculator* 143 DOLLARS!!!! Me: It's too expensive...can I have it for maybe 90 dollars Her: BUT....BUT.......*looks puppy faced* Ok. Do you have cash? Me: Sorry, only credit card. Then, another girl comes out and she tells me our credit card machine is not available, so she tells me there is a bank downstairs. Her: I'll go down to the Bank with you, ok? Me: um, I can go myself....... After insisiting she accompanies me to the ATM, I decide to go by myself. Then I run for the exit then get on the skytrain. Overall, I give at least two stars because they do have very cute clothing on sale, but they give you a super rip-off price. In Hong Kong I could've purchased that dress for maybe $35. Other stores seem good but avoid the clothing stores. Food court is GOOD! PS: Later on, I ended buying a dress which was 60% off in GUESS in another mall ! There's a two level Daiso, lots of restaurants and a food court, lots of cute stores for clothes and costmetics, cell phone accessories stores, a car showroom?, a big fountain in the middle that shoots water almost as tall as Bellagio's in Vegas lol, and lots more! Every mall should be judged on the worth of its food court, and Aberdeen Centre has the most unique and delicious food court I have seen in North America! If it's Asian that you're craving, you will find it in their food court. Sadly our choices were limited because we did not have cash! (Tip: Bring cash!) We ended up getting a sizzling plate of goodness from Teppan Kitchen. It's a burning hot plate with meat, veggies and rice that you use to cook your meat to just the right temperature and then drown in your preferred sauce. But enough about food. We also enjoyed browsing the many stores. From the Taiwanese store with every dried fruit, vegetable and animal imaginable to Daiso! Dear Daiso, please come to Vegas. I really need all of your adorable trinkets and stationary accessories as well as your super cheap house slippers. It's a "dollar" store with a Japanese sensibility. In other words, amazing! I purchased the best nail glue ever there and had to clasp my purse tightly to not walk away with some kitten stamps. These are not your expected stores. If you like a cultural shopping adventure, this is super clean, safe, enjoyable and tasty one to experience. read more

I love this Asian supermall! My God, I was in an otaku wonderland of geeky bliss. So many store fronts filled with licensed anime/manga merchandise. Cosplay items impossible to find in the USA. Not the hugest selection of legit Asian goods, but all in all, it was VERY impressive. Out beat ebay's selection and prices. The food court was inexpensive and bountiful. Kind of surreal for an Asia fanatic like me. Great prices and vast choices. I'd complain about the lack of cleanliness, but it was a weekend and not every guest has common courtesy. Parking, on a Saturday, is kind of like playing Tetris. +Upside... It's free. If you are from the U.S. And buy certain items I.e. Impressive. The Aberdeen Centre is an anomaly in North America. As a stupid American, to me this center feels like being in Asia. There are no discernable American branded stores here. It seemed like the center's customers and proprietors were 100% Asian. The center is incredibly clean and everything seems shiny and new. It actually feels like you're in a movie at this centre because everything seems so perfect. I am a fan. Always something here to relieve boredom. You can explore the jungle of $2 trinkets at Daiso or a stroll through the isles of cute dresses, teddy bears and Hello Kitty collectibles that make up this asian avenue. Also, no asian place is complete without traditional herbal tea/ dried fruit stores. Aberdeen surprisingly has these stores inside their mall. Aberdeen also have one of the best food court foods! They serve a variety of asian foods including authentic takoyaki ( actually made by Japanese people), HK style cafe food, Shanghinese dumplings, Korean lunch boxes to Vietnamese sandwiches! Theres also bubble tea and the famous Beard Papa. Don't feel like food court? No problem! Theres restaurants too! Try Northern Dynasty for hand made dumplings and hand made shanghainese noodles. Tropika is on the bottom floor if you are craving Malaysian food. Lasty, theres Saint Germain's Bakery. As for parking, try not to drive something bigger than a small sedan. The corners in their parking lot are narrow and too many cars have been scratched. read more

This is a modern Asian mall with a heavy Chinese focus. The food court has a nice variety of Asian cuisines (with a heavy Chinese focus). There are several sit-down dining establishments, a produce store, mobile phone shops selling imported models, bookstores, furniture, and discount stores like Daiso. You frequently see children enjoying the automated water fountain light show. Little known tip: Free wifi access in the food court area on the 3rd floor. Not a bad place to set up shop if you want to work outside of the office or home while eating some quick and tasty food. My three favourites in the food court area are Leung Kee that provides typical Canto food (my favourite is the flat beef noodles), Wo Fung Dessert (my favourite is the fried chicken wings), and Tim's Dessert House (my favourite are the HK style bubble waffles and phoenix rolls). The local izakaya chain, Guu, also has a restaurant on the 2nd floor that specializes in sushi flown in from Japan. On the ground floor Mei Jan Hong Beef Jerky offers Singaporean style beef jerky - very addictive! read more

I found Asia in Canada!!! This shopping center screams China/Hong Kong. Pretty average. They have a unique collection of stores on the first couple floors with a food court on the top floor. As for the stores, they're no the typical shops I would frequent, but it's always fun to walk around to window shop. You'll definitely find your fill of Sanrio items and a huge variety of Asian car fresheners. If you only have a short period of time to visit, I suggest you go straight to the top floor and take a walk around the food court. There's also a really cool store right next to the food court that has a ton of dispensing machines for collectibles. Cute little Asian Mall! It's a must stop for when I'm in town. All the shops are really overpriced but I'm here for the food! If you're out of town and don't know where to eat, this is a great place to start. The food court is amazing, not your typical mall food! Plus, there are half a dozen restaurants on the opposite end. We come here because my girlfriend loves Daiso, I am not a huge fan. It is a horrible parking lot - crowded, cramped and so many bad drivers (I know what do I expect from Richmond right?) The daiso is the main attraction for us, a few good electronics stores like NCIX but other than that there's not much else here. Holy moly!! If you have ever dreamed of visiting Hong Kong, no need to make the transatlantic trip. Just get your butt to Aberdeen Centre. This is basically Asia transplanted to North America. Scratch that -- it's basically Asia. Stores have brands you have never heard of. Signs are in both English and Chinese (often with the Chinese characters in larger print than the English version). Snacks and toys that you only find in Asia. Gold stores left and right. A food court that represents... When are we gonna get one in the States?!?! read more

We enjoy coming to visit the Aberdeen Centre each time we visit Richmond BC during a Vancouver trip. It is a pretty nice Asian Mall that is fun to explore. It is the largest and most popular Asian Mall in the Vancouver area. One of my favorite stores they have is Daiso, which is a massive cute 2 dollar Japanese store. But nothing cheesy here, everything is really cute and useful (it is Japanese!). And of course, we always have to visit their food court. There are plenty of yummy options of different Asian food and drinks. You can go get some bubble tea, shaved ice, and some Korean or Japanese food for lunch. Most of the food court is cash only, especially if you are visiting from the U.S. so make sure you have your cash ready. I also enjoy the different shops. You can visit different boutiques and clothing stores. There are little gift stores with key chains, cute little figurines, stuffed animals, school supplies etc. There is also a store with many different kinds of dried fruits. The mall itself is spacious with an organized set up and well lit. There is a water fountain that adds a nice touch and they will seasonally decorate which makes the shopping experience more pleasant and memorable. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but it is worth the patient search to enjoy this mall. I can't wait until our next Vancouver/Richmond trip to visit Aberdeen Centre again. read more

My hotel staff recommended this mall since it is the largest Asian shopping malls in America. I felt like I was in Asia while here. You can pretty much buy anything asian here. The food court is on the third floor that offers a variety of Asian food. There is a bearded papa here! I was quite happy to see that. The food court is very clean and there are many restaurants to choose from. If you want more of a sit down restaurant, I would suggest Fisherman's Terrace. There is a store called Dieso that sells mostly $2 items. I had a blast in here buying random things. Definitely worth checking out. read more

The best mall in the Richmond area! All of the shops that can make you spend hours upon hours shopping here. The most popular shop, Daiso, has many items for a cheap price. In the courtyard of the mall, there is a fountain, which is similar to the Bellagio Hotel fountain. The water shows happen once an hour, (I think) with lights that make it better attracting on-watchers. (My kids LOVE it) If you spend the entire day here, you can chow down at the food court upstairs on the third level. There are multiple different types of food shops. There are desert places, noodle places, or overall lunch and dinner places. This is a great place to spend your day, or just plain visit for a little while. If you seem to be visiting the Vancouver-Richmond area, you should most definitely come here for a day. read more

Parking area is one issue: Every corner at parking lot should delete as give more way to turn( car is bigger and bigger) Three way stop should be using at all intersections as more fair to everyone. Should make clear sidewalks as people walking drive way cause dangerous. Aberdeen brings a glimpse of home for me - it totally reminds me of Pacific Mall in the t-dot, except it's much nicer and more spacious. It's definitely not as lively as PMall (as we lovingly call it in Toronto), but that's because I picture it more of the big brother of the two - classier and more family friendly, not just full of fake DVDs and shady clothing stores. Aberdeen has style. It has the only Giordano this side of the water. The first Beard Papa in the Vancouver-area opened up here. The amazing Daiso store picked Aberdeen to be it's first Canadian home. All these put together, and how can you not be amazed at the achievements this mall has made? They also know how to celebrate here - CNY is always bustling, and the decorations they set up are pretty fab. The fountain shows are great entertainment for kids and adults alike. Bathrooms are always clean, and their food court variety is solid (random White Spot booth always cracks me up). Overall, a good way to spend a few hours if you're in the area! Perfect for picking up gifts or food, or just eating out. Plenty of parking, and a short walk from the Aberdeen skytrain station. read more

One of the benefits of having a vibrant and well established Asian community in greater Vancouver is that you can truly immerse yourself in some of the more interesting aspects of a culture quite different from your own. Things we learned in our family field trip to Aberdeen Centre: 1. Allow yourself an extra 15 minutes and bring your zen to get into the parking garage... OMG. 2. Children can be entertained for free for long periods of time by parking them at the performing water fountain... it is so cool! 3. If your butt is bigger than a melon - don' t bother clothes shopping here. 4. Daiso is an experience more than a shopping trip. 5. Even if you don't have a clue what you have ordered in the food court... you can trust that it is tasty. 6. Bring cash. 7. Prices in the stores are set assuming you will barter.... ick. 8. If you want to eat dim sum at Hot Pot 1, you need a reservation dummy. Who the heck just shows up and expects to get food - silly suburban girl. 9. The aesthetic is geared toward a distinct society and a trip to Aberdeen was a feast for the eyes. I would call Aberdeen Center one of the largest Asian hubs in Richmond. Its like everyone wants come here which makes parking a freakin nightmare!! Aside from that, this mall is pretty nice! a lot of stores ive never seen or heard of before catered to asian fashion, but i don't go here for that. I only come here for NCIX computer store (i know.. im a geek SO WHAT!) and their food court. a great selection from japanese to Cantonese cuisine, dim sum, crepes, ramen, baked rice dishes to White Spot.... what... what?? how did that get there???! oh well, this mall is bursting with color and beautiful ambiance. Also check out their water jet show in the middle of the mall. I would highly recommend coming here but leave your car at home and take the very convenient Canada Line to avoid the parking hell you might come across!.. that is all ;) read more

If you could put Aberdeen Center, Lansdowne Centre and Richmond Centre on a pH scale, you could probably say Aberdeen Centre is very hipster. This mall is 100% asian (even though it does have a Vera's Burger Shack in the food court.) The mall has many specialty stores from a Korean supermarket to a store that sells honey, to a store that sells beef jerky, to a bookstore which mainly sells books in Chinese. There is a large area in the "middle" of the mall for performances such as Chinese New Year and it can get very crowded here. Basically I would go here just to go to the food court due to it's wide variety of food choices. There is Japanese crepes, Korean food, saboten pork and many other delicious food from across Eastern Asia. If you want a meal at a restaurant, there is always 7th Heaven which is on the opposite side of the food court. read more

I really like this mall! Has pretty much anything you want. They did a really great job rebuilding this place a while back. Everything is very clean and modern. My favorite store?? Of course, it has to be Daiso!! Almost everything is $2! When I was here at the beginning of the month, I stocked up on noodle bowls and oil blotting sheets (all Made in Japan) as well as household items like a sink mat and dish sponges! I could have been at that store all day long, but thank goodness I had lunch reservations before I spent the rest of my money there! read more
