Rte. 40 Benedict
Christopher B.

Fast friendly service, good prices, good food. It has that old diner feeling and when you walk in, everyone greets you, kinda like going home. We've only been for breakfast, but no complaints! The basics are covered but I'd suggest a special. The Rte 40 Benedict is very savory and hits the spot. So does the fried chicken steak. Perhaps I need to focus on oatmeal and fruit next time, geez!!

If you check my review history, you will notice that I almost never give a bad review. It is hard to leave one, but it is warranted. While on long road trips, we like to try out new local diners. While in Aberdeen, MD, we decided to check this one out. We were seated quickly and our order was taken. The server was friendly and we got our breakfast. The place had an odor similar to if a cat was present in the establishment. The hash was very much like a sliced boiled potato. It was tasteless. The breakfast sausages were overcooked and reminded me of when I was microwave my frozen sausages for too long when I was a preteen. The egg was good. The toast was too, along with the coffee. After leaving the place, my stomach wasnt right for our entire trip back to Buffalo. One star for the reasonable price and one star for the service, but thats being generous.

Coffee is piping hot and food is excellent. Great place for biscuits n gravy. Phenomenal service. Definitely worth a try for anyone visiting the Aberdeen area.

Country Chicken Fried Steak Platter With 2 Eggs , Potatoes and Toast.

In town for work, stopped by for a late breakfast. Love the old diner atmosphere. I had the country fried steak, with chipped beef gravy. Comes with two eggs, and hash browns. The staff were very friendly. I had hoped for a bigger portion, but still enjoyed the food.

It was our first time at this diner. There was enough parking but with the dealership next to them, it can get tight. We were seated inside quickly. The staff seems to know a lot of the regulars, even their orders. It felt very welcoming in there. The food was delivered promptly and was cooked as we asked. We will visit again.

2 eggs, no meat.

Now, years later, my wife and I would pass by the new 81 diner and would always say we needed to try it. We'll, today was the day. We stopped in for lunch, and aside from a gentleman waiting for his to-go order, we were known as the customers. I guess not a lot of people eat at 3 in the afternoon. The atmosphere was very nice. The tables, chairs and booths all fit the diner nicely. My cheesesteak sub was very tasty. Their menu said no substitutions, but they let me withhold the lettuce, tomatoes and onions, which I'm not fond of, so I'm glad they let me do that. Along that note, my wife ordered the BLT sandwich, and gave me some of the bacon, which was really good! Our friend George ordered the pizza burger, which also looked good, and he seemed to enjoy it. Their fresh cut fries were fantastic as well. If I had anything to complain about, it would be that the music being piped in was too modern for a classic diner atmosphere and wasn't something we were expecting. Hopefully that's something they will eventually change. Maybe next time we will stay long enough to try some of their desserts, which looked pretty good too. We will definitely be back soon.

My immediate reaction entering was, wow what a clean place. It is clean, bright and very welcoming. Our waitress was a lovely young woman who took the time to go through the menu with us and tell us things that were popular with regulars. I chose a roast beef melt with tomato soup and my husband got a gargantuan sized turkey dinner with all the fixings --real mashed potatoes and gravy, roast turkey, which they roast in house, and stuffing with a side of carrots. To round out our meal we had coffee and two scoops of ice cream also made in house by the waitress's father. Delicious, especially the cherry vanilla. Couldn't have been more pleased with the food, ambiance and reasonable prices. We are new to the area and looking forward to another good meal!
