    Chesapeake Burger
    Pamela Y.

This little place resides next to a big red barn in the sleepy town of Charlestown, MD. The servers are all very friendly and hospitable and the food tastes homemade and fresh. I ordered the Chesapeake burger, basically a burger with Swiss cheese, and crab on top. It was really juicy and delicious! Everything non-seafood is under 10 dollars and my meal was only 11. Pretty good lunch spot for a rural area in Maryland!

Very delicious crab cake sandwich! Well seasoned too!

Came in with my mom for lunch and from the beginning i was greeted with a "hello sweetie" from one of the employees. The cashier was new but she was so nice and delivered our meal to the car with a smile!! Thank you to the whole crew today! I will be back soon!! Got home and couldn't wait to dig in to my crab cake sandwich so, so good!!

Small fruit flies littered the windowsill adjacent to our table; tickled my skin, and swarmed around our food.

It's frustrating when you know the food is really good at an establishment yet they are failing in every other aspect. Case in point: Market Café. No doubt about it - this place is a dive bar. A place for locals. It's easy on the budget and located in a woodsy area with not a lot of eateries in the immediate vicinity. But....that is no excuse to let the place go - to have the parking lot littered with hundreds of cigarette butts, to have a front deck dirty and uninviting, to have the inside uninspiring and dark on the brightest of days, to have the market not clean, bright, and organized as a market should, and the worst violation? Read below. I ate here in 2015 while in the area. My burger was memorable enough to warrant another visit next time I was in the area despite past service flaws. I was actually yearning for the toasted bun, the chunks of solid crabmeat, and the juiciness of the thick, perfectly cooked burger. Our most recent visit was July 2016 and in an attempt for better service we decided to dine in instead of take out. Service was indeed better but dining in unearthed other issues. The interior was dark and drab. Despite it being a beautiful day outside the bus girl went around closing all the blinds except the one at our table (which I wouldn't have allowed anyway). Although the view outside was nothing special I'd rather not sit and eat in darkness at noontime on a lovely Saturday. Only one other table was occupied and I could hear them complimenting the food. The bartender was also our server and his service was good. No compliant there. Our order came out fast this time, and his service and attentiveness was just right. Although our burgers were as delicious and juicy as we remembered they came out served in a plastic basket on top of included fries which made eating difficult. A plate would be a much better and easier to eat presentation. Condiments were not present at the table and you had to ask for them. But the real issue was the bugs - tiny fruit like flies that littered the windowsill adjacent to our table in masses. That I had to smash with my paper placemat, and that continued to fly around my face and tickle my skin. It was quite annoying. So annoying in fact that I brought it to the attention of our server who admitted that the windowsill does need cleaned but insisted that this type of fly was problematic in this area. Considering that I was camping a mile away and had no encounters with them I question if the problem isn't limited to the cleanliness of this restaurant or if they are really a local problem. Either way it was a letdown. A let down because the food really, in all honesty is really good but everything else is a flop. The food is what is saving their rating from to a 3 star. I hope this review gets the attention of management and changes are made or it might not make it another season. .

A good dive bar with good food at reasonable prices. Wait staff is attentive but seem a little under staffed.

Yummy! Great app--crab dip; then burgers. Excellent service! The physical look of the place is deceiving.

Located in a super cute small town along the water with on street parking along the main drag way, as well as a designated parking area. There is indoor seating, as well as outdoor seating. This place gets busy and you will figure out why once you come. We did have reservations so call if possible. The menu is chock full of choices. There's a wide range of offerings so you will find plenty of options. Bread and butter starts your lovely journey into taste bud adventures. We started with their famous Vinny's crab balls which were tasty little gems. For food, we ordered the prime rib special which was absolutely massive and cooked to perfection. The chicken Chesapeake was deliciousness. Also ordered the liver and onions which was just as amazing as the previous too. If you like liver get this!!! Every dish came with two sides. Baked potatoes, sautéed zucchini and fried zucchini (get this) were ordered. Also had the cole slaw (so good) and some tasty sweet potato fries. There wasn't one thing out on our table that wasn't good. Seriously. The value you get for what you pay is astonishing. Literally. No notes. You will be shocked at the quality and quantity of what you are getting for what you are paying. They do have a tempting dessert menu/case. We couldn't fit it after these portions! We took some to go boxes that had enough leftovers for another meal. Should have gotten dessert to go. Don't make our mistake! Go out of your way for this place!! You will be a regular once you have this dining experience. Laid back and down home with some fabulous food.

I'm trying to block this entire experience out of my mind…read more We'd called ahead to make a reservation since we had a group of 9 and asked for seating not near the band. Well, there is no seating where the music is not loud so they shouldn't even be offering it. I've never been in a restaurant where the live music is almost deafening. It was out of control. I don't know how anyone was able to sit inside and have a conversation because you had to yell at the person beside you. Once we were able to get a table (outside in the cold since the music was so loud) and a waiter finally came we ordered food. Skipping ahead...I ordered the nachos. If you like cold queso out of a jar then this is the dish for you! No exaggeration, the queso was completely cold like it had been spooned out of the jar from the shelf. Unreal. Add to this, the dock that backs up to the restaurant kept catching fire. I kid you not. There was some loose pipe or cable that caught fire at least twice while there. Stay away from this place!

But she failed to notice that six of us received their entrées while my wife didn't get hers. My wife had to flag her down after a few minutes and ask. Clearly either she forgot to put it in or the kitchen forgot to make it, because the rest of us were half done by the time my wife's food arrived. Food was mixed. My crab bisque had good flavor, but only a few shreds of crab meat. My wife's Jazzy Jeff soup also had very little crab in it. The crab cake was advertised as having lump crabmeat. It didn't. The fries were good, but the Parmesan cheese mentioned on the menu seemed to be MIA. When our server brought boxes for leftovers she also dropped the check, even though we haven't asked for it. Either they don't have dessert or we were never offered it. We enjoyed the setting and loved spending time with our friends on a lovely end of summer day. But we won't rush back.
