The store has lots of products but customer service is non-existent. Went in today to purchase items to remodel 2 FULL bathrooms. We walked in not one of the employees acknowledged us. One star for someone returning my call. I ordered vanity, sink top, faucet on 9/2 with Daniel. He assured that they deliver once it's in, in approx 3 weeks. I called for update 4 weeks later, talked to Manuel. He called manufacturer and relates to me that product won't be ready until end of October, maybe November but can't be sure. I then asked about a refund, was told they can only refund by check even though I paid $2,675 by debit card. I mentioned that I do not live in a Modesto and my daughter will pick up refund check If need be, which He then stated that it has to be me. Making one last attempt to get some answers. I just want some reassurance and an estimated date of when this can be delivered. (One employee assured delivery and another said they never deliver). Hoping management or owner can shed some light in this. read more

Just go here. They will have the part you need. I needed a special piece for my shower plumbing. This place was the only spot that had what I needed. I live in an old home. Home Depot and other places said they would need to order it. However, water leaks can't wait. Now I know to just go here in the first place. Save time and get the job done right. read more

I asked for a water heater burner assembly and the young man who helped me said he didn't know what I was talking about. After explaining what it was I needed he offered me a pilot light kit instead. I had told him I purchased a burner assembly here before and insisted he did not know what I was talking about. When I told him I have the part number he didn't even bother looking it up. I had heard that the Abe's staff were rude and argumentative but I decided I would try and support the "local" shopping anyway. Wow, was I surprised with just how badly I was treated. What I had heard was 1,000% true. Such a sad situation that a once great business has gotten so bad. In this day and age when shopping on-line is easy and cost effective one would think providing good customer service and support would be critical for securing business. I was told Abe's might be a good place to go to for finding a good Kohler faucet. I walked in and met with two young men who both stated they had nothing in Kohler and wouldn't for some time. After speaking to these two young men for a few minutes, I found them to be unfriendly, unprofessional, and not very knowledgeable. If this is an example of who runs the us business, this place will be doomed to fail. I receive much better service and selection from Home Depot and Lowe's. read more

Stopped in to check out bathroom fixtures for our remodel and met Shawn. He is very helpful and super knowledgeable! I told him the bathroom setups we had and he simplified everything we would need - made it so easy. We exchanged emails and he responded promptly to every question I had. His pricing is very competitive and after thinking everything over for a week and visiting a couple other places, we realized Abe's pricing and customer service could not be beat! So glad I stopped in and can't wait to get our fixtures installed next month - would have never even known of the brand (Phylrich) if we hadn't talked to Shawn! read more

I am like really I have been doing building maintenance for 10 years and the plumber said we need a new toilet. We already had replaced the mechanisms... Drove all the way from Stockton to Abe's Discount Plumbing Supplies at the recommendation of a plumber to look for a part for my tub. The building was attractive on a large lot. I think they have every single thing you could ever want in regards to plumbing, and its impeccably tidy, organized and well displayed. However, this might have been the worse customer service experience I have ever had in my life. My daughter and I walk in and a young man is behind the counter. He doesn't say anything to us but stares at us. I'm not sure if he is a kid or an employee. Finally I ask, "Is there anyone here that can help us?" He answers sort of begrudgingly, "Well, I could try." My daughter then asks, "Is there anyone else here that could help us?" The young man replies, "Well, there's a salesman in the showroom with two ladies, and there's the boss in his office." I was sort of thinking that I would mention to the boss that they could improve their customer service so I asked, "Where is his office?" "Oh you can't go back there," he responded. We go to the showroom to find the salesperson. He had a sweatshirt on so from the back I wasn't sure he was the salesperson until the ladies in the room told him to go ahead and help us. I asked him about the part I wanted. He was fine. Not overly friendly but absolutely fine. He showed us the closest thing they had that matched our part. Mind you, it was 1:45 p.m. and the place closes at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday so I'm sure workers are planning to help their customers make decisions so they can close. Perhaps they even have Monday off since it's a long weekend for some of us. I couldn't pass up the chance to ask, "Whose the kid up front?" "That's my son," he answered. Then he added, "He works in the back, but we're shorthanded today." In the nicest, kindest, most constructive way I know, I mention, "Oh, you might want to teach him some customer service skills. He could smile and ask people if they need help." "He's just a kid and this is his first job," he defends. "I understand," I replied, "but he could be taught to tell people that someone will be right with them." Clearly he was not amused with me. "He's up here because the boss is sick and I'm sick too." Since I'm thinking that I kind of want to meet the boss to see if he knows about the level of service his customers are receiving, I ask, "Oh, so is the boss here?" "No, the boss is not here," he tells us. (This is a little surprising since I was told by the kid that the boss was in his office, and I'm not allowed in his office. At this point, I don't even care about the boss, I just don't want to be lied to.) "Your son said the boss was in his office," I replied. "No, he's not here -- he's sick," the salesman asserts. I decided the part wasn't the right size for my tub so my daughter and I headed out of the showroom to the front door. The salesman follows us. Right then, another man walks out from behind a closed door with a couple customers and they all head to the cash register. I look at the salesman, point to the man who is now behind the register and say, "So who's this?" "That's the owner," he tells me. I glance over at the owner with a bewildered look on my face and he immediately tells me, "I only came out here to help these people!" I didn't say anything else, just continued heading for the door but I heard the owner say to the sales rep, "What did SHE want?" Abe might be honest, but he's certainly not friendly. The two younger gentlemen were more interested in their cell phones than with their customer service. I finally got one of them to get me information on a bathtub. Not a very good place for plumbing supplies. They treated us very harshly. No supplies that we ask for. And even when we found a 3 and a 1/2 inch. Wing nut drain plug/ test plug online. We realize these people had been lying to us about the item not ever existing. That is when we us the business owners ourselves feel like this place should never exist. Customers service was very poor and shady. If you felt that same way then I would not even say anymore. We Called them up again and asked the same question about the drain plug but they said the same thing. Bunch of liars. Anyways Home Depot carries more parts and supplies you need than this shady place. Very upset never going there again. read more

Went in to buy black steel Piping and had some questions about a cool Looking faucet attached to a wood toolbox as a display .... The man with the grey hair was not very friendly or personable. They overpriced the piping that we needed and once we started asking about a breakdown in price, it looked as if he crossed a certain price which was original price of $63.38and changed it to $31, that's shady. And even though he did that, the price still came up $30 or more than Home Depot. I almost felt as if he didn't want our business. Not to mention they didn't want to get up and walk outside of their little box to help us look for something. I told my fiancé, lets go! Abe's saved our day!! Actually our whole month. We had a kitchen faucet pull down hose go bad and start leaking. I was planning a full day in the kitchen and freaking out about water under the sink. My boyfriend went to Lowes by our house, then Home Depot, and neither had the part since we have a Koehler faucet. One of the guys at Home Depot mentioned Abe's discount plumbing and he went there just in case they had the part. They didn't have it in stock so they pulled it out of a new faucet box and sold it to him. They totally saved the day and it would have taken me weeks to get it online since it's not a common part (Koehler brand parts aren't common). We will be using this store again!! Nice selection of facets and such, and the service is ok so long as you indicate the intention to spend money. However Cathy erred in delivering us hanging sink baskets and when we realized the error, she had no interest in resolving the mistake, instead claiming the we had misunderstood in spite of her having shown us something different than what was ordered. Basically, she has lousy listening skills and once the sale is made, becomes totally tone deaf. Get what you need and no more, and get out. read more

We were referred to Abe's by our Home Warranty Company. The company sent Steve who was there promptly on a Saturday. He told us what our problem was and the price . They installed the water heater the next business day. He gave us advice on our water pressure problem graciously. I would not hesitate to recommend this company , especially Steve. read more

The guy shows me what I needed, I see the price is nearly double what Lowe's and Home Depot have it for, all i say is that Lowe's has it for $40 and he grabs the part puts it back and says have a nice day. If there was a zero star rating, that is what I would rate this place. As a woman, not a plumber, I expected courtesy and service from the people behind the counter. Instead what I received was rudeness, non-professionalism, and bullying. My first encounter at the store was not pleasant, however, I had no choice because I could not find the part I needed at Home Depot or Lowe's, so I tolerated their rudeness. I had to return to the store because I was missing a part on the shower head. I had been told by Sean that the piece would be included with my shower head--it wasn't. So I had to return to pick up the missing part. My previous plumber made the mistake of installing the internal parts of my faucet handles too deep. My new plumber and I went back to the store, for the third time, to look for extensions. Manuel, the store manager, was helping another customer when we arrived. Manuel was short tempered and rude to the customer. Upon hearing their conversation, I dreaded having to deal with Manuel, but he was the only one behind the counter. My plumber and I explained to him the dilemma we were having due to the previous plumber's incorrect installation of the internal part. My plummer asked for an extension. Manual told us we were stuck with what I had because Kohler didn't make the extension we were asking for. So I asked if I could use a different set of handles. Again Manuel stated I was limited to what I had--which I found hard to believe being that Kohler is a HUGE company with thousands of parts. But I had no alternative since Manuel gave me no other options. I then explained to Manuel that I brought the shower head box home, from earlier that morning, and it was missing the plate that goes against the ceiling. He proceeded to tell me that the part was in the box. I explained to him that I was present when my plumber opened the box and that one piece was missing. Manuel flew into a rage calling me a liar. I told him I just wanted the missing part and I would pay for it. I couldn't understand his rage. I wasn't asking for anything to be free. Manuel got the part I needed, shoved it in my hand, and said, "Here you go, no charge. Goodbye!", as he motioned with his hands for me to leave the store. I told him I wanted to pay for the part, but he continued with his hand motion to leave the store saying, "Goodbye! Goodbye!" Before leaving the store, I asked for his name. He said, " My name is Manuel and I am the store manager". I asked to speak with his superior. Sean, Manuel's manager, approached me with attitude. Before I could even explain why I needed to speak with him, he began his rant of how he had "given" me the shower head part that he didn't order because he didn't know I needed it. I tried to explain to Sean that was not the reason I needed to speak with him. But he just continued with the reason he didn't order the part, etc. I was finally able to tell him I appreciated what he did. I reminded him that when I placed my order I told him I needed that part--even gave him the dimensions--he simply forgot to order it. Sean didn't accept it and continued his rant. I just listened and apologized. I was finally able to explain that the reason I asked to speak with him was that I needed to make him aware of Manuel's unacceptable behavior towards me. Sean then started telling me how all I wanted to do was return parts I had ordered. I explained to him that was not the truth. I explained I came to order extensions that I was told were not available, so I asked if I could order different handles--never asking for anything at no charge. But Sean would not hear me. I was convinced that Manuel had told him a different story about why I needed to talk to him, which put Sean on the defensive. So I proceeded to explain to him how my previous plumber ripped me off of thousands of dollars and that I came to their store with my new plumber trying to fix my problem. Sean continued cutting me off. I began crying, feeling bullied. I explained to him that it wasn't enough that my previous plummer screwed me over, but then I had to experience disrespect from them, too? Upon seeing me cry, Sean somewhat calmed down. But he didn't apologize. And he didn't apologize for Manuel's behavior, either. Instead, he said, "OK, we're done here. This is over." I have never in my life been so disrespected and bullied by ANYONE, like I was at Abe's. The atmosphere in that store is vile. The fact that those men could bully a woman the way they did, and feel no remorse, is totally unacceptable. Ferguson's is a much better alternative. We found the extensions Manuel stated Kohler didn't provide. And I called Kohler to inform them about their vendor who disrespects customers and lies to them about their products. read more

I was in need of a hose for a kitchen faucet. So looked up the manufacture and was routed to a retailer ...Abe's Plumbing. I go in there with the part number and what I need, the guy was nice at first. Then when he got the part for me, he explained that this hose wouldn't fit my particular model. I said that the manufacturer said it would. He said it wouldn't and so on. So I left without hose. Now while I sat in the car in the parking area, I decided to make another call to the manufacturer and double check the info. She told me that it IS the part no and it would work. So off I go back into abes. I tell the same guy that i need to just purchase that hose and I double checked the part number. It matched. I buy it and they guy turned jerk on me. "It's your money your wasting" " hope your right and I'm wrong" sure buddy, that's what you were thinking. So I came home and sure enough it's the right part. It works and my life goes on. But anyone who asks me about Abes Plumbing will get this story. I don't think they want your business. Get it on the Internet instead. Call the manufacturer as well. Wish we had a plumbing supply that was at least nice and want repeat customers. read more

28 years ago we did a remodel and used Abe's. As a young homeowner I remember being dismayed at the lack of customer service. 28 years later we are doing another remodel. Our contractor sent us to Abe's. We are now in our late 50s and early 60s. We went to Abe's today and wandered the aisles for 20 minutes. No one even acknowledged our presence. I don't know how they stay in business. They do carry a higher end quality product that most big-box stores do not. While I would like higher-quality, I will not give them my business. Customer service means something. Totally disgusted with this company, though I go out out of my way to support small local business. Abe's needs to learn how to earn it. read more

I have gone to Abe's for plumbing parts chain-hardware stores didn't have...and they did. I found the clerks helpful and willing to explain basic information to me. Their business seems mostly oriented to professional plumbers, and I didn't ask my questions while people were lined up waiting for service (that seems polite to me).
