Had them come out twice. All my deadbolts at my house are all from Baldwin. I wanted to put an electronic key pad, just in case I get locked out. I was recommended a Schalage key pad and they would be able to match my Baldwin key to my Schalage key pad. They can also pick a lock, instead of just complete destroying it and forcing you to buy a new lock. Pricing was fair. read more

I've used Abe's for years and years, always stellar. Today I got a quote for a car key fob, to program it and cut the emergency key. It was a fraction of the cost the dealer quoted me (about 27%). I got the FOB for $26 on Ebay, the company on Ebay had to get information to make sure they sent the right FOB (appreciated). Bless Abe's! And the person I talked to was delightfully helpful. So if you are one key fob away from a stranded car, suggest you go this route.... Oh, and the dealer was saying up to 3 hours. Abe's is the place!! I had an Emtek lock that needed repairing (the spring inside broke so the handle was floppy). Decided this was something I could probably DIY and contacted the manufacturer for the correct part. Not once but twice Emtek sent me the wrong spring / parts. There's a lot more to the story that involved a deep rabbit hole but the important part is I ended up finding Abe's and Paul totally helped me out and fixed the lock, and even had one of the elusive springs I needed! (Because Emtek sent him wrong parts too!). I actually brought another lock in the same day and Paul's dad was the one to help me and he quickly worked his magic. Total pros! Don't bother searching any farther... Abe's is quick, honest, fair in pricing and thorough. One of the best service companies we have in Montrose. The back door at Town has been a problem for a couple of years. The old door literally broke itself out of the back wall and when it was replaced it never worked right. Either it slammed or didn't close. Eventually the lock assembly that came with the new door broke. Construction guys came back and put a new one on and less than two months later it was falling off. So I called Abes. Two hours later they were there and 1/2 hour later they had fixed the lock (it hadn't been installed properly) and reworked the door closer to the door latches but doesn't slam. Many, many years ago, way before Yelp was even a twinkle in Jeremy Stoppelman's eye, I had locked myself out of the house on a day when my two kids happened to forget to take their keys to school. I was desperate and used a neighbor's phone book (remember those?) to look up a local locksmith to rescue me. That locksmith was the previous owner of Abe's, and one of the nicest and most helpful locksmiths ever. So, when I was in desperate need of a locksmith many moons later, I called Abe's again. And thank goodness I did. Although the business is now in different hands, the helpful spirit remains. My car key had broken off in the lock and my valet car key stopped working, resulting in two (TWO!!) calls to AAA. I had taken my car to the dealer for a repair estimate and was quoted $600 to $1000 to replace the lock cylinder, plus a reprogramming fee for my key of $150, plus $95 for the key itself. Over $1200 to fix a lock? For a car that's worth like $2000? Nope. Not gonna happen. Then a brilliant idea occurred to me.....just call Abe's. The current owner was extremely helpful over the phone, gave me an idea of the cost, didn't get upset when my car alarm went off two times in his parking lot, and gave me a ride home after I dropped off my vehicle. He fixed the lock (which involved opening up my car door and a lot of complicated mechanics that I can't hope to understand), reprogrammed my key and set me up with a new key all for $260. He had me check the valet key, too, which now works, thanks to his repairs. And, best of all, he told me it wasn't my fault, that this happens all the time, and that it was typical. Bless him. I was referred to Abe's Lock & Key by a neighbor after the caretaker of my elderly aunt accidentally locked herself out of the house. The agency called a locksmith, who ruined the locks on the front and back doors at the home and still couldn't get her inside. So I've been getting keys copied where I shouldn't be and I had a key break in half and get jammed inside a door lock at a restaurant requiring an emergency locksmith to come to the rescue or else the restaurant would be closed and ended up paying hundreds of dollars to repair my lock.
