STAY FAR AWAY. HORRIBLE service. If I could leave zero I could - I had my boyfriend bring in a key to make a copy. Comes home and the key does not fit with the lock. Fine - I call the store and the man working there proceeds to give me insane attitude for letting him know the key I paid for does not work. He berates me and then tells me I can come in to get it fixed if I want. I go back to the store - he offers zero apology, nothing. He tells me I'm a bullshit difficult customer so I ask him to just stop resizing the key and give me my money back. I also found it weird that he was resizing it now instead of when my bf came in to ensure it was properly done. He tells me to f*** off, and to get the f*** out of here. Honestly this man is completely unhinged - I am a young woman in my 20s and he's in his 50s treating me so atrociously because HE messed up HIS work. I needed a key copied over the weekend, and as we were on our way to Virgil's to get it done we saw Koko's. We figured that it specialized in keys, so why not try it first? I got out of the car and my husband said he'd look for parking. I entered the shop, showed the owner the key, and in less than a minute it was copied. I went in to purchase a garage clicker, something I could have easily could have/should have done online. On my first attempt, I missed the 5PM close time by five minutes. The next day I went in only to be told they only accept CASH or Check, two antiquated forms of payment. I needed the clicker so I agreed to leave the store and walk 1/2 a block to the nearest ATM. The purpose of this post is to respectfully remind the owner of this business that this is exactly why online commerce is shutting down the local guy. You took such pride in shutting me down and telling me " this is how we've done it for 28 years " . Your business hours are M-F 10 -5pm. Most of us look to after work hours and weekends to run these types of errands. Secondly, I hate to say it but CASH and checks are antiquated. By having me leave your store to get cash, it feels like you are really making me work hard for something I can purchase from the comfort of my home, using my credit card and have delivered to my front door the next day... These are very angry people. First clue was watching the way they treated the guy in front of me when they told him in a very rude way look if you don't like our prices go to Virgil's. Then when I tried to tell them the situation with my deadbolt they kept telling me that I was wrong which eventually turned into a heated conversation to the point where they kicked me out and the man there literally almost wanted to have a fistfight with me. Amazing. I will never go back to this place. It's a wonder that they are still in business with the way they treated me. So I called this place to see if they make copies of my car key, the lady said she was able to so I chose to make my way there. I understand that this shop closes @ 6pm so I let the lady know that I was on my way there. I got there @ 5:55, I see that they closed EARLY for some reason. I see this old lady walk right by me, & if I can match a face with the voice I heard over the phone, I'm pretty sure that was her bc she gave me this look like, 'tough luck'. I would give a Zero star if I could. The lady quoted me $50 for a Home key copy that I got for $5 at Anawalt's in NoHo. I am never going back. Since they only take cash, I think she quotes high, pockets some money and puts minimum down on the books. HORRIBLE customer service from OWNER Sona and very expensive for no reason. We called them last Wednesday for them to come and change three locks at the house. They only change the inside part and gave us two copies for each. The gentleman seemed in a rush and I had a lot of questions, but he decided to change only these three and charged me over $300(!!) and then left. When I called back a few days later explaining that we had forgotten to change the garage door lock, which I had originally asked him to, I asked him to waive the $75 service fee and just charge for the one lock and key. Instead of accommodating us, since we just spent over $300 a few days prior and it was a mutual mistake, she said there's no way they would waive the service fee. This is considered horrible customer service, and I will never work with them ever again. Stay away! read more

Don't bother going here. The prices for colorful keys are outrageous; and the store associate claimed there was no way to make copies of the two small "made in China" keys I had. Really? I just had them duplicated at Industrial Lock and Security in El Segundo - wish I'd waited to return there - and will need to go back there now, after all. Another good locksmith is California Lock and Safe in Highland Park. However, the keys were cut right and worked. If you want limited and costly selection, served up with a defensive attitude, by all means go to to Koko's. :/ read more

I am thrilled to have found Koko's Lock & Key. I needed to fix a vintage lock from the 1930s. The owner was very knowledgeable about the lock. I had brought in a few parts of the lock and she explained that I had not brought all the parts she needed and then she explained what parts were missing. I ended up bringing the whole box to her and she found the part she needed and fixed the lock! And then she only charged me $24 for the fix! She offered to put a new lock in, but I loved the idea of her fixing the original! We had a few laughs too. Good times! read more

I really like this place, they know their stuff. They have every key imaginable and also have taught me a few things, like, the reason that fake Schlage key won't work, how I can't use a Quikset blank for some original keys etc. When you have to jiggle the heck out of your key to get in your house, you don't need WD40, you need the proper blank! They take cash or check so that's fine. They have always been very nice to me, including today when I got there before the 9:00 opening time and someone was already there to accept business. I had the worst key youde probably ever see for my work truck. It was damn near a prison shank. Came in to kokos, worried I would be screwed.
