As always, a lovely experience with Tracy behind the bar. During this kinda quiet stretch, Denise (aka Mrs Abe) was present working with the bar staff trying out recipes for new summer drinks. So she, Tracy, Verne and a couple more staffers were experimenting etc. I was particularly impressed by a comment made by Denise. When the ladies said one iteration was "good," she replied "How do we go from 'good' to DELICIOUS?" That says volumes about the care and the quality one finds here, at least in MOST instances; see below. It's plain to see that Abe and Denise still put their love into this place. Another example is a new app they had for summer. Basically they're hotdog sliders: 3 small doggies on buns drenched in ketchup and mustard with sides of relish and chopped onions. Tracey gave us one as well as some of the experiments from the summer drink files. Bottom line is the hospitable nature of the place, which is also reflected by the amount of regulars at the bar. Well enough of the backstory: onto other stuff I tried with my Queen Bee. After asking Tracy's opinion (yes: AGAIN) we chose fried pickles. It ain't hard to slice, bread and fry a damn pickle. These were the best fried pickles I've had in years though. I could tell the breading was a mix of cornmeal and flour, so it had a great consistency and ZERO grease! Add Abe's homemade ranch and there ya go; DILL-icious! As for real food...QB only got clam chowder and a house salad. I chose the medallion bites; latter is filet bites w. 'shroom and onion over rice. Filet cooked to order plain, blackened, garlic or teriyaki. I did half garlic, half teriyaki; meh...next time I'm go back to the blackened filet bowl. Chowder had waaaay too much flour and cream. Plenty of clams, but the poor lil bastards drowned by flour since, as marine creatures, they do not drown in water. It needed more bacon too, maybe a lil more tater also. QB wouldn't order it again and I wouldn't either. Meh! Salad was salad...bunch of iceberg with a lil tomato and some shredded cheddar. Ranch dressing is homemade, as we already have stated elsewhere. What sucks about so called house salads is that too many iceberg stems get dumped into the bowl...three in QB's case. Kitchen needs some better QC for my dear QB. I hope Abe and Denise pay attention to THIS so they can take care of THAT. The above won't stop us from returning, but it WILL help us quit ordering certain things and just stay with certain items despite a desire to expand the culinary horizons. If Denise can do it with BOOZE, she and Abe can do it with FOOD, too. Step it up! read more

Ate an early dinner here with my girlfriend and son. Wasn't expecting much based on the clientele (average age of social security), and atmosphere of a 90s sports bar. I made the comment "this place looks like somewhere Jon Taffer comes to on Bar Rescue." But the service was great! Drinks from the bar came out fast, weren't too strong and tasted great. The food didn't take long either and was amazing. Even my son, a notorious picky eater, loved their burger and fries. The chicken sandwich and filet mignon bites were way above expectations. Our waitress was spot on, and when she wasn't waiting on us I saw her busy cleaning. Great family friendly place, good food, clean, not expensive, easy street access and parking. Can't ask for much more. Definitely recommend and can't wait to come back! read more

If you're looking for good bar food, Abe's is the place to go! We sat in the restaurant- as opposed to getting the pick-up service, and I was very impressed! The jalapeño popper were coated with a crisp breading and filled with delicious cheddar cheese- spicy and decadent. The fries were salty and delicious, could have had a little more seasoning- but great nonetheless. The bone-in chicken wings I had were tossed in a medium sauce- great portion size and undeniably flavorful- the medium had a good balance of spicy, sweet, tangy and zesty. Today we stopped into Abe's Place for the first time and have to say we have nothing but great things to say. We had a couple of drinks some very crunchy and delicious onion rings. Also had the black bean burger and the boneless chicken wings, again the food was very good. But even more impressive was our server Jordan. The food is just OK here. The service was awful today. I watched the manger (red shirt) standing in the kitchen bullshitting then he came to flirt with the bartender's. After 30min I asked if they could check my food in the kitchen as I watched others who ordered afterwards get their food. She said "yeah, our kitchen is slow" I sat here. They never filled up my water at all. I had to interrupt them to get my check. Very disappointed this visit. read more

Been coming to Abe's for a few years now and can always count on a good meal! I've tried many things on the menu and haven't had a bad meal yet. I'd definitely recommend getting their boneles wings though as they are probably the best in town. Excellent meat to breading ratio, and even better when you order them sloppy. Trust me! The burgers are also above average and a solid choice. They have lots of choices on sauces for their wings, both bone in and boneless and there is something for everyone. The portions are generous, and I have always left with a full belly. There are lots of tv's on the walls for watching sports and great happy hour specials during the week. The prices have gone up steadily the few years I've been coming as most restaurants, and hope that they don't go up any more, but for bar food, it is definitely up there with the best of them. read more

Stopped in for an 11:30 lunch. Was pretty empty. Maybe four other tables. Ordered food for a table of six. It took over 35 minutes for food to come. The only reason I know that is I had to leave before the food even arrived. Apparently the waitress said it was because of "to-go" orders. I spent early 45 minutes there and still didn't have food which was a salad. And the woman with us ordered a side salad and they never brought it to her until her meal arrived. Will not return. There are too many other good places to try. And this isn't on the waitress. This is on the kitchen staff. Plus they have a food cart outside that could have helped the inside kitchen. read more

My friends stop at the Abe's many times after golf. The beverages are cold, and any drink on the happy hour menu is just $3.25. The chicken noodle soup tastes as I remember my Grandma's. Always a good choice for a light lunch. The fresh wings are delicious. They can be ordered breaded or tossed in your favorite sauce or no sauce at all. If you prefer boneless wings, the fresh chicken breast pieces are on the menu, too. A good sports bar and restaurant in Clearwater area. As a chicken wings are my favorite food, I always get referred to places. Honestly, this place was fantastic. Ordered the naked bone in wings with blacked seasoning & got several dressings on the side.... YUM! The place didn't cheap out with small wings. Great sized and everything was reasonably priced. Got a patty melt to split & was good but the wings were the winner!! Garlic parm and teriyaki! Recommend this place for wing enthusiasts and/or sports people. Still one of our favorite places to go regularly. One of the best burgers if not THE best burger in the area.. perfectly cooked, flavorful and juicy every single time and I'm really freakin picky about my burgers. Chicken sandwich is still amazing as ever.. it's huge.. like hanging off the bun huge so I cut it in half so I have a second sandwich to take home. Wings, steak, and everything we've tried has been great as well - staff is friendly, beer is cold and pricing is fair with good portions. We sat at the bar because it was quite busy and there was a 30 minute wait for a table. The food was pretty good exactly what I expected the prices were also great. They have an everyday all day happy hour. They have a few signature cocktails and decent deals on other drinks. We met several regulars and they all recommended their favorites. So we tried the wings and fish and chips. They were both good. My partner upgraded to tater tot's since the wings came with a side. We have come back here a few times because the food is so good. First things first please get rid of the drain flies. It's very annoying when you're eating in these little flies are all around you. We killed four while we were at your restaurant and there were many more. Second turn the lights down. No one wants a spotlight shining in their eyes while they're eating. Now I will say the food was delicious! Portions were good and everything was very tasty. I had the imposter dinner. Fish was yummy with the rice. The coleslaw was very dry and probably would not order that side again. My husband got blue cheese burger. It was good however the fries were pretty salty. Almost too much. Neighbors got the chicken bowl. Tons of food in there and they loved it. You should really be getting five stars. A friend and I visited Friday after work and we had the steak medallions. They were sooo good. The service was excellent too. Our server was totally on top of it and got us our meal without any delay and made sure we had plenty of drinks. I really love the whole vibe of Abe's Place.
