I'm genuinely surprised to see such ratings for Indi's Chicken. I went in expecting a simple, no-frills spot serving good old-fashioned fried chicken and classic sides. That sounded great to me. Unfortunately, the food, portions, and pricing were all disappointing. A three-piece chicken meal with two sides runs around $13-$14, and the pieces are small. Two of my three pieces were very small drumsticks. The meal doesn't include a drink, and if you just want water, you have to buy a bottle. The sides also come in very small portions. I ordered the 3 piece spicy chicken with baked beans and potato wedges. The seasoning on the chicken had a decent flavor, but it wasn't spicy at all. The bigger issue was that the chicken was extremely dry. The larger piece of fried chicken was especially bad, there was barely any meat in it. Most of it was over-fried, hardened breading surrounding a lot of empty space. I kept biting into thick, crunchy breading and air while trying to find actual chicken. The baked beans were fine but nothing notable. I did like the potato wedges, which were probably the best part of the meal. You get three as a side, but they are at least fairly large. There are also several extra costs that add up. Sauces are sold separately, the meal doesn't include a drink, and there's an additional 3% charge if you don't pay with cash. All in all, I really don't understand the high ratings. You can get better fried chicken at plenty of fast-food restaurants, or even from Walmart or Publix, for less money, with larger portions and more options. Even if you're specifically looking for a no-frills local chicken spot, this doesn't feel like a good value. You pay more, get less, and, based on my visit, the quality isn't there. I D is one of my favorite spots to eat in Clearwater. The restaurant is spotless. The food is always hot, and delicious. Their chicken comes in spicy, or regular and and it is some of the best I have eaten... They serve a chicken breast, the keel, which is the boneless breast with only the one piece of cartilage in the center I have never seen that served before and it was really good. I opted for mashed potatoes. None of it was good and it was EXPENSIVE. I paid $12.30 for a terrible "meal" The tenders that they "fry fresh" were dry and bland, we're talking ZERO flavor. When i say they were dry, I mean they were hard to swallow. I could tell that they use real potatoes in their mash, but very few. Very runny and the gravy just tasted funky. This is a unique mom and pop fast chicken restaurant and I like it. I went there for lunch one day because I wanted fried chicken and I wanted it a little spicy. Glad I went here! They have regular and mild but I went with the spicy. I also got the potato wedges, which were yummy! They have a lot of sides that are more southern style or Island style as well. My first experience at Indi's restaurant was absolutely delightful! The restaurant space is bright, airy, and clean - just what you need in a quick take-out or dine-in spot! I ordered a two-piece meal for a midday lunch (dark meat is my preference) which came with a side of green beans and a dinner roll. The best part was getting a chance to sample a spicy chicken wing before deciding to order the regular chicken. I decided the spicy chicken was too spicy for my mouth (unless I'm having wine...if there's wine, we good). I ordered the regular chicken and it was ultimately crispy and finger-licking delicious! The mac n cheese is on point and with a little bit of salt, the green beans are just what the doctor ordered. The best part - teacher/veterans/first responders with appropriate ID get a 10% discount!! I'm a teacher so the discount is mucho appreciated. I wish more businesses offered this!! One of the first things I noticed when I entered Indi's is it didn't smell like fried food and everything was so clean and bright. The staff was super friendly and patient in me taking my time to order as this was my first visit. I ordered the 16-pc spicy wings and it was everything I was craving. The wings were crunchy, not greasy or salty or heavily breaded, and had the right spice to it. The price is affordable and the wings were fresh. I'll be back. I saw an ad for 10 drums/thighs for $10 on TUESDAYS at this newer place, so I went to their website to check it out. I was a little skeptical when it said "spicy" chicken, but read on to see that they also offered "mild", which is more to my taste. I gave them a call to pre order, but their line was consistently busy, so I went back to their page for contact info. I emailed them on the chance that there might be someone on the ball checking it and placed my order with contact information. Rob (owner/manager) called me back within 10 minutes to confirm and I drove over to pick up my order. The order was fresh out of the fryer and still very hot by the time I got home 15 minutes later. The chicken was juicy, crispy, and perfectly seasoned, with just enough coating. Big, meaty pieces! They also offer sides, but I was just interested in the chicken. My wife saw this new place on a facebook page and wanted to go check it out. I like some good fried chicken so off we went. Walked in on a weekeday evening and checked out the menu. Its your typical fried chicken menu with a choice of spicy or regular. They have some unique sides like sweet potatos like you would eat during Thanksgiving. Their fries are large wedges that are breaded with the same stuff as the chicken. Very good fries. Their chicken is super moist on the inside with a crispy notable crunchy skin. The spicy chicken actually was made with hot sauce. You can see the orange color when you pull the skin apart. Way better than popeyes spicy. The people working there were super nice and helpful. I know where ill be going whenever i want fried chicken. This place is the best fried chicken ive had in a while. This place shouod get super popular once people find out about it and try it. I finally got a chance to try Indi's Chicken. This place is brightly colored and clean. The staff were super friendly and patient as I had a lot of questions. They serve Halal BBQ Beef Brisket, Fried chicken, fish and shrimp. I got the BBQ Beef Brisket, which was tossed in a delicious tangy Spicy BBQ sauce. It was not spicy for me but was super flavorful. I also got some savory Mac and Cheese. The portions are generous, as well. They also have a Helping Hands wall where people can pay for a meal, for someone in need, and the receipt is taped to the wall to be used by a hungry and needy person, no questions asked. I went to Indi's Chicken at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night and tried to order a snack box of spicy breast and wing and was told that they only had spicy wings and regular breast. They were unwilling to cook some chicken fresh. This is an hour and a half before they close! I also want to order a keel but was informed they stopped carrying keel at this restaurant. The keel was the reason I went to this restaurant plus the high reviews given by a Facebook blogger. I am happy to see that Indi's is finally open. We wanted to try them as soon as the sign went up. We got the spicy chicken, which had a seasoned great and the spice level wasn't too high. The mash potatoes were creamy and buttery, the coleslaw was delicious. Personally I wasn't a big fan of the gravy, but my husband enjoyed it. I also picked up a small hot BBQ sauce to try and was great. The sauce would be good on some pulled pork and or ribs too.
