Abigail's was one of the best experiences I've ever had while traveling, hands-down. My best friend and I stayed there this past weekend while attending the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and not only is the inn itself absolutely beautiful inside and out, but the innkeepers Adam and Susan are the most helpful and kind proprietors you will ever meet. From day one, Susan provided us with advice on where to eat and visit in Ashland according to our preferences, and every single recommendation was spot-on. The breakfasts at the inn (also Susan's work) were marvelous every time, with special attention given to my best friend's dietary restrictions so she could eat comfortably. Our room was lovely, cozy, and comfortable, there was always tea, baked goods, and other snacks available for a pick-me-up, and the location is just a fifteen minute walk from Ashland's main plaza (or a simple three minute walk and one minute bus ride). I highly recommend staying at Abigail's for OSF, it was a wonderful experience that enriched our trip, and I'm truly grateful for it. read more

This is an overdue review of Abigail's as we stayed there over 6 weeks ago. What a gem of a b&b in Ashland which is in itself a hidden gem! We tend to choose b&b's based primarily on the breakfast, but Abigail's exceeded all our expectations. Gourmet breakfast which included yummy homemade muffins was out of this world. Bring your appetite, you will need it. We've never seen so many choices especially for teas and coffee. Susan and Adam are such awesome hosts who made us feel like we've known them for years. Their place is beautiful inside and out, and extremely well-maintained and clean. Unfortunately our stay was for only one night as we were driving from Northern California to our destination in Portland. Our next trip to Portland will be a flight first into Medford so we can stay at Abigail's for a couple nights and experience Ashland and the Crater Lake area. Can't emphasize enough; you will not be disappointed with Abigail's! read more

We have stayed in hundreds a bed and breakfasts and this is one of the very very best. Immaculately clean, beautifully decorated and comfortable with interesting friendly hosts who have thought of everything to make sure your stay is perfect. And, you won't find a better breakfast ANYWHERE! You can have your breakfast to go or you can sit inside or outside. You will have a private table appropriately separated from other guests. It was obvious that the owners were very careful how about cleanliness and appropriate social distancing. We never saw our host without a mask on. We can't wait to come back again in the spring to see the B&B gardens. They are beautiful now but they should be spectacular in the spring time. You can't go wrong... Highly recommend! read more

a very nice place and a lovely stay for about $180 a night, including tax, etc. we had one of the smaller rooms -- so determined by the available photos. it was a queen/full size bedroom, with a short-bathtub/shower (good for shower, not really a bath) connected. our room had a balcony facing the street. but it isn't a place I would really hang out on. there's a little too much noise from the busiest thoroughfare through Ashland. we had no trouble sleeping. the town gets quiet at night in this area. and it isn't along a highway or a stretch of bars, just beside the main road into town. the house is very lovely inside and out. it is well decorated. the breakfast gets an A+. the meal included a lovely quiche, juice, muffin, fruit -- enough to make one go without hunger for half a day perhaps. I enjoyed visiting with the other visitors at the breakfast (which is included in the price, as it is with B&B's). Abigails is is about 5 blocks from the Ashland's highlight, the theater stages. the owner suggested walking there, but after a long day of window shopping we weren't up for another walk. the theater in this town is top notch and many people visiting plan to see 2 to 3 shows over a long weekend. Ashland is certainly safe enough in the area of Abigail's to consider a walkto the theater -- and if your legs are fresh, you can access much of the rest of town without any problem from the B&B's location. a drawback to our stay was the curtness of the greeting we received. we were asked our last name only. not a hello, or a how are you -- but just "last name." this was awkward to say the least. but, the owner warmed up to us after she was assured we had a reservation at the right place. this quaint place is about the right price given the area and the amenities. I was happy with our stay. I can forgive small details when the overall is positive. read more

What a wonderfut bed and breakfast! Just got back from the first of what, I am now sure, will be my many stays at Hersey House. It's heaven. Some practical tidbits: It's about a 10 minute walk to the theatres, if you're in Ashland to see plays, there are rooms for two or three people, and one cottage for a larger group or family. It's a little less expensive than most of the other bed and breakfasts in the area, and is really not much further to the theatres. Some details that make it 5-stars: *The breakfast. When do you ever have a multi-course breakfast?! The breakfast was spectacular - we would have paid at least $20 each to have it in a restaurant. It changes daily, but today it was freshly baked cinnamon scones and coffee/tea, followed by a chilled chai latte with chocolate and bananas, follwed by an herbed egg dish served with cajun-spiced potatoes and chicken apple sausage. *Lorraine - the proprietor was so accomodating and welcoming! She communicated with me via email, and was so gracious. She let us check in early, with no hassles, and she was interested in getting to know guests, while allowing for privacy, too. *Comfort. The rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable. We were the only guests there (midweek and still not quite high season) so I got to see all of the rooms! The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms had great amenities for a B&B: tons of towels and washcloths, basic toiletries, and other little comforts like haridryers, q-tips, and cotton pads. The room had reading lamps, coat pegs, a suitcase stand... the sorts of hotel details that can be missing in houses. Hersey House also has the standard B&B common areas with a piano, games, books, etc. and a common dining table for breakfast. I really can't say enough great things about this place - definitely try booking a room here if you'llbe in Ashland. read more

My husband and I recently stayed at Abigail's and were pleasantly surprised at the comfortable accommodations and fantastic food. Susan, the owner, is a wonderful chef and lovely person. Stopping in Ashland for our first experience with The Shakespeare Festival we feel that we were very fortunate to find Abigail's. A B&B run by a wonderful couple who thought that running a B&B in retirement would be the answer to their dreams. The rooms are spacey, the beds are comfortable, and the grounds are beautiful. Never a more friendly and warm best and breakfast. Ashland is a great town with great people but the stay at the Hersey House Inn made the experience so much more than any hotel/motel. First of all, the name is no longer the Hersey House. The new owners took over within the last six months or so and it's been renamed Abigals since January. However, the recent change in ownership did not detract from the inn. I guess we all use different systems in which to rate things, but in some cases I like to start out giving a business 5 stars and then subtract as they provide evidence that lessens the experience. In this particular case, I could not find a single detractor. This is perhaps the 5th or 6th B&B I've stayed in in my life. I've been to ones In Virginia, the French Quarter of New Orleans, parts of New England and now Oregon and this one was perhaps the best yet. It was perfect in its location, decor, amenities, and level of comfort. As for the location, it is on the main road, which is only a negative if you plan to spend a lot of time on the beautiful front porch. Otherwise, the Victorian style house sits on a conner lot situated a short distance from the main highway exit (if you're coming from Medford) and a 5-7 min walk from downtown. The grounds and house itself are perfect. Everything inside is in perfect working order despite the age of the house. Great attention is given to every detail. read more

We have stayed at Abigail's several times over the many years we've attended the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and it never fails to hit the mark. Susan and Adam are amazing hosts, and every detail of your stay is well-executed. Susan's breakfasts are a five-star experience, and we always enjoy her descriptions of the multi-course feast that will fuel your entire day. But our stay last week was the most appreciated yet, and demonstrated their commitment to customer service. We had to make a trip from Southern California to the Pacific Northwest, and Ashland was a logical stopping point. They worked with us to alleviate our Covid-19 concerns and steered us toward the Garden Room, which allowed us a contactless car to room to a good-night's sleep experience. They even offer breakfast delivered to your door. Susan and Adam have done their homework and are providing thoughtful and safe hospitality in these tenuous times. read more

Our stay at Abigail's Bed & Breakfast Inn was outstanding! The location is perfect, just outside the main drag but close enough to walk to the restaurants and theaters. We were visiting Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival (Henry V and Othello - both fantastic!), so enjoyed the stroll back the B&B each night after the play. Susan and Adam, the Innkeepers, provide a wonderful, clean and comfortable nest to base your Ashland experience from. The rooms are comfortable, with ensuite bathrooms and everything you need to make for a pleasant stay. The common areas offer great places to hang out, indoors and outdoors, with Susan and Adam balancing being available to help with questions with providing you the privacy to use the common areas in comfort. Tea, coffee, water, sodas and snacks are always available. The breakfast deserves a special mention. Each morning, Susan cooked up an absolutely delicious 3-course breakfast, in my case specifically designed to fit into my vegan diet. And each day had a different set of courses! I couldn't believe the effort Susan went to. Just outstanding! Speaking of outstanding, at the end of breakfast Adam came around and provided individual itineraries for each guest, with brochures, driving directions and useful notes, all based on what we'd indicated we were looking to do during our stay. Again, above and beyond what you could expect. Abigail's Bed & Breakfast Inn is the perfect place to stay for your Ashland trip. We'll definitely be back! read more

I REALLY liked this place. Everyone has different tastes but I like food, quiet, nostalgia, and nice people. Abigail's exceeds in all those categories. My wife and I came down to Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival. We picked Abigail's for the good reviews and proximity to the Festival. The Festival is a 10-15 minute walk from the B&B, so for us just the right amount to break up the sitting for a 3 hour show. Susan makes a FANTASTIC two course breakfast, others describe it adequately, but I would just say she blows away the idea of a conventional breakfast burrito. On a side note my wife is pregnant and had some specific diet restrictions, Susan was so considerate and careful that these were met. We usually skipped lunch we were so full, but she would have a nice treat during the day to partake in if we were so inclined. Adam will give you the low down on the town, directions, things to do, and he is just an all around friendly host. To me as a team they really just made our experience enjoyable. We felt as comfortable as we could be away from my own home. Now the house! This is an old Victorian style House, it just has a lot of charm all around. Some people have commented on the size of the room, but I think there is just one smaller room. We found ours to be plenty sizable, but we did not spend a ton of time there. Susan and Adam told us about all the changes they made in the last year, and some planned improvements this year, so I can just see the place being even better when we go back next year. Just returned from a trip to Oregon and stopped in Ashland on our way out. We really enjoyed our stay at Abigail's. The pictures shown are accurate. Our room was sweet and cozy - they stock lots of little snacks downstairs and some in the room. The bottled water saved our lives (we made the mistake of attending the open-air theater during a heat wave), and they provide complementary cushions/blankets for your theater going. They do a group breakfast (one seating), which allows you to get to know your fellow guests. The food was good and she's very open to trying to accommodate guests food issues. Our room was in the front of the house and we did experience some noise issues from the road, so choose one a bit further back if possible. read more

I stayed at Abigail's with a friend recently and would not consider staying anywhere else in Ashland. The owners phoned more than once to confirm our arrangement (separating the beds so that two friends could be comfortable in one room). The breakfasts were generous and delicious and kept us going all day. The hosts were helpful and had great humor. Our room faced N. Main Street and we slept with the windows open and had cool air all night, though the days were very warm. I used the provided earplugs and slept like the proverbial log. I am looking forward to next year's Oregon Shakespeare Theater program so that I can book my room soonest. read more

This B & B was a wonderful experience! Carolyn, the Innkeeper, was so nice and friendly. You couldn't help feeling welcome and at home right off the bat. My husband and I stayed in the room titled, "As you like it" It was charming, clean and comfortable. Everything you would expect from a B & B. Breakfast was amazing! Carolyn made us berry smoothies, blueberry pancakes and there was fresh hot tea and coffee. Very delicious! The company was fun too, we ate with a nice couple from Hollywood, CA. The three days and two nights we spent in Ashland last week were terrific, and our hats are off to Abi and Patti, the Innkeepers of Abigail's Bed and Breakfast Inn. They made a lasting impression and without question we will stay at their B&B next time we're in town. It could not have been a more positive and enjoyable experience! Accommodations were perfect. The Abigail Adams Room we booked was warm, comfortable and conducive to a great night's sleep. The breakfasts prepared by Patti were delicious, and the location of the B&B was ideal for us to walk everywhere in town---maybe 10 minutes from Lithia Park. We walked and walked during our trip and access to all parts of the city from Abigail's was perfect --- and yet being 5 blocks or so from the center of town gave us a bit more quietness than some of the other lodging facilities we saw on our walks to 'downtown'. Off-street parking in their private lot was also a plus. The immaculate condition of their B&B was obvious from the moment we walked in on Thursday, and the care and love they put into making their guests feel 'at home' was a 10 on the 10 scale. We spent three nights at Abigail's this past August and were very pleased with the accommodations. Both Adam and Sue, the innkeepers, were friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are of note as they are large and tasty. They only do one seating at 9AM for all guests which we found to be an easy way to get to know others visiting Ashland. The food is great!! Gourmet two course breakfasts which are wonderful and filling. Beds are comfortable and rooms are quiet. We had a room on the front of the house and were not disturbed by street noise or light. They provide blankets and cushions for your comfort when attending the outdoor plays. They also have umbrellas if the weather is wet. I heartily recommend them. read more

Love the new owners, Adam and Susan, personable, relaxed and great hosts. One of the best 2 course breakfasts I've ever had, fruit cobbler, fresh fruit, eggs benedict over artichoke hearts and asparagus, bacon, biscuits which melted in your mouth, juice and great coffee as well. You should consider that you would pay at least $30 for each breakfast which brings the cost of the room to quite reasonable. And, as Adam promised, we didn't need lunch either. Great location for exploring the town and going to the plays, about a 15 minute walk. The rooms were well kept and roomy. All the little touches were there, home made cookies, blankets and mats to take to the play, information about things to do. The sitting areas were all spacious and comfortable. My very first stay at a bed and breakfast and I was not disappointed. After a long drive down from Portland, we were immediately greeted as we arrived and given the tour. It was a hot day, so the air conditioning and complementary waters and soda were well received. We opted to pop open a bottle of wine and relax on the front porch before heading into town for dinner and a play. A perfect evening followed by a delicious home-made quiche for breakfast the next morning. I highly recommend this place, and look for a new name in 2012 as the new owners will be changing the name to Abigail's Bed & Breakfast Inn. read more

This place has been a wonderful experience from beginning to end. The owners are warm and helpful and amazing cooks. The rooms are charming each with their own baths. The beds very comfortable and each morning we were treated to a terrific breakfast - even for the dairy free- gluten free- egg free members of our party. The fee is so reasonable and location is great. About three blocks from the Oregon Shakespeare festival- just a long enough walk to burn off the fresh homemade cookies available anytime- or at least until they run out. :) there is a private parking for your car! read more

We've been coming to Ashland once or twice a year for more than 20 years. For the last five we've been staying at Abigail's B&B. We have always enjoyed our time here. It recently changed hands and is even better. Mind you we had no complaints about our previous visits. The new owners are great cooks. The food is both generous and very well done. Pretty much everything is made in house, including wonderful baked goods in the afternoons. We've stayed in the main house and in the separate two-bedroom cottage at the rear of the property. Both experiences were good, very clean premises, attractive, well cared for and quite pretty. We will definitely be back. read more

We stayed here November 8, 2015. Out of season and a cold rainy night, so we had the B&B to ourselves. It was immaculate and very comfortable. Good bed. The breakfast was the best I've ever had. The first course was a cobbler-like dish with stewed fruits, granola, and cream fraiche and a little fresh fruit. The second course were scrambled eggs with herbs, bacon, asparagus, tomatoes, and biscuits. The coffee was perfect. I would highly recommend. read more

What a wonderful place to stay and relax! We met our daughter and her husband there and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The rooms were very well appointed, the breakfast was wonderful, and the front porch a great place to simply sit and catch up. Our hosts were so very friendly, trying to make sure our needs were met. There is always tea and coffee, with fresh baked cookies and other small snacks. We walked to downtown for a play and even saw deer on the way.
