My wife and I had an absolutely remarkable stay at the McCall House. Being our second visit...we enjoyed the Sleeping Porch Suite. Wow! Just a beautifully curated room with a claw foot tub, shower and even a towel warmer. The room has a comfortable Tempurpedic bed, a gas stove and a spacious area with lots of natural light from the windows to relax and sip on wine. We have also stayed in the Chaucer Suite which is another gem. Not one of their rooms disappoints. The best part is the hospitality by the friendly staff. Shanna did a great job booking our reservation and delivering a memorable experience as we were celebrating our Anniversary. Chef Renee cooks up some delicious breakfasts to get the the day started, while the service staff takes great care of you. The entire residence is very clean and thoughtfully decorated. The home features some rich history and there are documents and pictures that highlight that history. While we were there...the power went out to that side of the town...during the middle of breakfast preparation. That didn't stop them from delivering a great meal and experience. Thank you McCall House staff. See you next time.

    French toast Benedict. Delicious!

We were driving from Southern California to Portland and planned on staying the night in Ashland. I hadn't even thought of a bed and breakfast, but lucky for me, my boyfriend booked us a night here. We stayed in the Chaucer room and fell in love with the entire place! The attention to detail and interior design is impeccable. We felt so comfortable here and slept so well (it was really quiet!). Love that we had chocolate chip cookies waiting for us and you can help yourself to coffee in the late evening or early morning. Our room had beautiful bay windows with comfy chairs where we sat and chatted as we looked out at the beautiful view, including the historic Magnolia tree and the stunning fall colors from other trees along the street. In the morning, we chose the later seating time and had the French toast Benedict. WOW! Absolutely delicious, five star food and service was outstanding. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Ashland and have already recommended to several friends.

Excellent place to stay in Ashland. Let me outline the top 10 reasons for staying here. (1) Location - McCall House is walking distance to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Lithia Park, and all the wonderful shopping and dining Ashland has to offer. (2) Comfortable rooms - from the beds and seating areas to the temperature controls, they got everything right. (3) Common areas one can hang out in - when the missus and I needed a respite from our kids, we escaped to the drawing room downstairs and enjoyed a glass of port. (4) Superb service and hospitality. From checkin to checkout and everything in between. (5) Amazing breakfasts - something different every day. From the typical B&B fare - like yogurt parfaits, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, and chicken sausages, to the exotic - like bread pudding, avocado toast, frittatas and voulevants with poached eggs. Served with freshly brewed coffee, tea, or orange juice. (6) There is history everywhere you look. We stayed in the President Rutherford B. Hayes room, and many of the other rooms are named after luminaries and dignitaries who stayed here (like General Sherman). (7) Gorgeous grounds - the flora and fauna took our breath away. Besides the impressive and award-winning 132 year-old magnolia out front, they have many beautiful trees and shrubs, and we saw deer at least one of the evenings we stayed there. (8) Safety - the inn is secured late in the day so non-guests cannot access it, and they have CC TVs all over the grounds. (9) Free parking out back. They generously allowed us to park our van past our stay (we had a play the afternoon after we checked out). (10) Pampering - from artisanal soap and bath products to fresh-baked cookies every afternoon, they found ways to make us smile. Thank you McCall House, for a memorable experience. If I could give you more than five stars, I would.

My husband and I travel a lot and rarely gush about a hotel. The owners and staff didn't miss a single detail. Welcoming lemon cookies and chocolates in our room. With an optional excellent wine waiting for us in our room upon arrival. Even a Tesla charging station! The breakfast , which was included was made from scratch by a chef who could get a job anywhere in the world! Thank you so much everyone, we could tell this is a labor of love for everyone who worked there!!!

What a magical place! My first day was such a delight I extended my trip and stayed another night. The McCall House is exquisite- beautiful decor without a hint of gaudiness. I stayed in two different rooms and both were comfortable, spacious and pristine. Breakfast was divine both mornings, with soft French music and a window seat, who could ever complain? On top of all that- the staff was exceptional. Friendly, detailed, and accommodating. I will absolutely be coming back. I miss it already!

The McCall House is lovely, even on a gray late summer day.

I love Ashland! I've been coming for years and have stayed at a few B&Bs. McCall House is equal to the best. Easy walk to the Shakespeare Festival and all the great places to eat. The rooms are well designed and decorated with thoughtful touches throughout. A mini fridge and microwave are in the room, but behind the closet doors so they don't spoil the Victorian charm. This time we are in the Carriage Room South, which is behind the main house, and is accessed by a short outdoor walk. The Carriage Room North is above this room. Breakfast is a wonderful affair served with care in the dining room. Varied daily, today began with a yogurt granola parfait followed by eggs, sausage and blueberry breakfast cake. Yum, and definitely enough to get you through most of your busy day!

Key lime yogurt and granola, delicious!

Pictures on their website don't do it justice. We booked the Lydia McCall room with detached bathroom. It was not far from our room and it was our dedicated bathroom. Big, bright, and super clean. THE SERVICE is amazing. Any question I had they were able to answer and every small extra I requested, they were happy to fulfill. They are SO NICE! I'm so glad we stayed there, just wish it was longer.

We stayed at this beautiful bed and breakfast for our 5th wedding anniversary trip. From the minute we received a confirmation, to the minute we dropped of our key at checkout, everything and everyone was fantastic!!! Every morning we had incredible gourmet breakfasts and afternoons we would find homemade cookies at our room. The house and rooms are rich in local history and beautifully decorated (reminded me of my hometown - Saratoga Springs NY). The staff were super friendly and the co-owner (Mary) was wonderfully gracious and conversational. Staying here truly made our trip a memorable one. I highly recommend staying here if you ever get to Ashland.

Breakfast offerings....so much more than the usual continental!

Nicest place I've ever stayed, plus only two short blocks from the theatres. My mom and I luxuriated in the Carriage House South (second building behind the main house). Our room was small and tidy with a large main bed and twin size bed in the nook under the stairs that go up to the carriage house north unit. We made friends with the folks above is which is always useful if you are trying to sleep under a staircase (the stairs are carpeted which helps, but you will hear the comings and goings--and water usage--of the folks upstairs.) The room was well appointed, the linens clean and luxuriously soft, the pillows plentiful. I usually avoid B&Bs because as a shift worker, I pretty much always sleep through the breakfast hours and can't be bothered to adhere to a strictly timed breakfast window. But after enjoying a takeway mango lassi and corn muffin sent from heaven I got up early enough for breakfast the rest of our stay! Breakfast was only 8:30-9:30 but absolutely worth the effort of getting up early. We also enjoyed an in-house dinner Friday night. Sorry I didn't take any photos of that (or the actual breakfasts, sorry, was too busy enjoying the deliciousness!) because it was a treat. And even came with an accompanying poem from the chef. Also of delicious note all hours: unique sherry to sample in the parlor, coffee and tea and fruit-infused water, and house-baked delicious treats like gluten free macaroons and date bars which went VERY well with a cuppa afternoon tea. In addition to the fabulous food and cut-above lodgings, the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff could not have been any better. Everyone encountered was pleasant and more than happy to help with every question (and we had so many...) and really went above and beyond to make our visit in Ashland truly exceptional. We asked for a tour on our last day and should have done that the first day! We got a very thorough and knowledgeable discussion of the social and architectural history of the building, owners, and residents, and even got to peek into those rooms which were not inhabited. Tour definitely best done after check out time, before evening check in time when rooms are most likely to be vacant! I will be saving up my pennies to stay here again and try a different room! Each one seems like a totally different (but all very lovely) experience.

Great way to start the day...fresh flowers at your table and the smell of brewed coffee.

There is no onsite staff, so you need to make sure you've received your welcome email which contains the door codes to enter. The room was elegant, with very high ceilings, completely decorated in the victorian style with lovely antique furniture, photos, and decor (old oil lamps etc.). The decoration was completely tasteful and not cluttered. Each morning, there is hot coffee prepared in the sitting room, which has a large table, lots of board games, and some comfy couches and chairs to sit in. My partner and I had an easy time doing a few hours of work each day in this room. The internet was fast and reliable. The hotel is very private, with no front desk staff and very few other guests, but there is someone on hand via phone or text, and they are able to get to the hotel within a few minutes to help with anything you need! They use a great platform for managing the reservation, where you can very easily purchase a 1pm late check out (for $25) - that came in very handy when we realized in the morning that we weren't going to be ready to leave at 11am!
