We resist the urge to so highly rate a place such as this, because it usually means we won't be able to get in again, it becomes so popular! But here goes... The innkeepers are ttruly charming folk who provide a beautiful experience with simple yet perfect accommodations. The setting couldn't be better and the location is ideal, situated almost downtown, half a block to the shops, bookstores, bars, and restaurants of the village. We rented a lovely one bedroom apartment for the most reasonable price. Best of all, walking distance to Caldera Brewery tap house! We loved doing laundry at Henry's laundromat, where we would visit the Book Wagon used bookstore next door. One has to drive to the laundromat, and the adjoining bookstore, but it's not a long drive. The location is also ideal because it's on the Northwest part of town closest to the town of Talent, where we enjoyed shopping for books, antiques, and other items. read more

We make it to Ashland about every other year and this was our third stay at Cowslip's Bell. Our hosts of several years earlier were still there and as friendly and welcoming as ever. We have stayed in the Gullivor Room in the main house and it was both private and convenient to the late night/early morning coffee and hot water. This time we stayed in the Garden Apartments in the back and they provided additional privacy and quiet. So there are clear advantages both ways. And the small stroll through their lovely garden and past the Koi Pond to the main house for breakfast was a lovely way to begin the day. The location is ideal for walking to the Shakespeare Festival play venues and it was an easy 20 minutes drive to Jacksonville's Brit Festival performance. Jon and Carmen are expanding their operation in the direction of vacation rentals, beyond the traditional B&B. But I do love their breakfasts. Each day of our stay there was a different, freshly made main item (Pecan waffles, fluffy omelets) in additional to fresh seasonal fruit, fresh juice, and excellent coffee. We were thrilled to learn that the Rosebud suite at Cowslip's Belle was dog friendly, and we quickly booked for three nights with our two greyhounds. It was perfect for all of us. Michael and Una were gracious and wonderful hosts. The koi pond outside our private deck area was very relaxing and beautiful and it quickly became another room for us to lounge in. I finally stayed here two weeks ago, but my parents have been coming here annually for their fill of the Shakespeare festival since (we calculated) at least 1996. And I do understand all the raving. Jon and Carmen are wonderful souls and fantastic hosts and cooks. When my parents both caught colds, they were nice enough to donate some cough drops and syrup to the cause. The place is walking distance to town, clean, cozy, and the yard is great. (The koi pond deserves its own five-star review.) I can't wait to start bringing my own family to stay here and see plays when my little one is old enough. If you do the B&B option, don't bother budgeting for lunch, because you won't need it. You will love this wonderful Ashland B&B. The rooms are cozy with luxurious bed and bathroom linens and and an evening turn-down service complete with chocolates on the pillows. Rooms have private decks with lovely views of the garden. The breakfasts are top-notch and the table conversation always interesting. You will want to linger over another cup of coffee or tea. As members of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, we have stayed here for a number of years, and Jon and Carmen have morphed from agreeable inkeepers into wonderful friends we look forward to seeing each summer. The proximity to the theatres (3 blocks) and to downtown with great restaurants and shopping is definitely a bonus. You can park your car in their private off-street lot and never start it up during your stay. The Reinhardts have a loyal following and it is not hard to see why. read more

Hi, Great ! I just spent 5 days there, I stayed in the Upper Suite. The location is excellent 3 blocks from town.The place was well furnished with a very comfortable bed and plenty of nice pillows. The place has a great fireplace, ample supply of books and large jacuzzi. The Kitchen was small but supplied plenty of pans, silverware and glasses. There is also a nice Koi pond just outside. I met the owners they are very nice and friendly willing to give you plenty of suggestions on restaurants and plays, they also have menus from most of the restaurants in town in a nice binder waiting in your room. read more

This is a most wonderful, peaceful, 'home away from home' ...! My husband and I go to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival every year ... up to now, we had stayed at a lovely flat, but alas, the owner decided to turn it into a yearly rental. And then my husband found Cowslip's Belle ... and our time in Ashland got even better! Carmen and Jon are warm and gracious hosts. We stayed in the Upstairs Suite ... complete with kitchen, sitting area, bedroom, gorgeous patio, fireplace ... as soon as I walked in, I felt such a warmth, a sense of peace and relaxation ... coming from the environs of Los Angeles, it was sorely needed. My only regret was that we only had three days to stay there ... next year we will positively extend our stay ... I'm already looking forward to it. On a personal note: I had left a baby blanket there that I was crocheting ... Carmen went out of her way to look for it -- and kept looking for it when it didn't turn up on the first go-round-- and make sure it was returned to me ... totally above and beyond!! I can't recommend this B&B highly enough ... you won't regret it! read more

This place is awesome. First of all, they get about 100 points for allowing my dog to stay. Hard to find pet friendly places, and they are, so yay! They're really conveniently located on a quiet street about a block or two from the main drag. My room was ADORABLE. I stayed in the Upper Suite (or something like that) and it was spacious and cozy. I did it as a vacation rental, so I never saw/met the owners nor did I have breakfast there, but I still felt quite cared for. The little kitchen was stocked with tea and there was a hot water tap (!!!!). There was biscotti and some sherry near the fireplace. The room was filled with really interesting stuff to read. There was a jacuzzi tub. A great deck. Seriously--I didn't know where to start, nor did I want to leave. And everything was spotlessly clean. Can't say enough good things about this place. read more

By far our favorite place to stay in Ashland! The innkeepers are great, rooms are private, well appointed. The location is one block from the plaza and easy to walk to dinner, shopping or plays. We come back each year and coordinate our schedules with guests from around the country to all be here at the same time. Wonderful experience, the rooms, pond and deck are great! read more

Cowslip's Belle B & B was such a pleasant stay. The owners Carmen and Jon were such perfect hosts. The Carriage House room that we stay in was so very pleasant. The bedding was luxurious and was turned down each night with a candy on our pillows. This unit had a deck with table and chairs which overlooked the garden and added to our comfort and enjoyment. The breakfasts that Carmen and Jon served were excellent, along with their great conversation. Carmen and Jon were always so warm, all of which added up to wonderful vacation experience in Ashland. read more

We have been coming to Ashland for the plays, restaurants, hikes, and shops since 1992. We have stayed at four B&Bs, but we have been coming to Cowslip's for over 15 years. Jon and Carmen are true professionals. They know what people want and they are always improving aspects of their inn. Cowslip's is close to the theaters and downtown. We like one of the units in the back. There is free wi-fi, kitchenette, a/c, great mattress and pillows. You can stay as a B&B guest or vacation rental. But you wouldn't want to miss any of their breakfasts. They are always superb, with a large bowl of sliced local fruit, freshly baked muffins or bread, bacon or sausage, and wonderful entrees. You won't need lunch! Add to that the great conversations we have, the koi pond, the beautiful dog, and most of all, the truly wonderful and interesting Jon and Carmen as hosts.
