It has been over three years since I have stayed there. They were extremely accommodating. I have a hard time with stairs so they made sure my husband and I were on the first floor. At the time, the new owner did not have a liquor license but he did waive the corkage fee for wine. The food was amazing. It is a very small dining room, very intimate. We live an hour from Abingdon Manor and love exploring old Inns that have fine dining. The food was delicious. We loved the 6 course meal and every bite was a delight, a surprise and tantalized the taste buds. The Inn host greeted us on arrival and made us top notch Whiskey Sours that we enjoyed in the parlor before our seating. The service was attentive. We will definitely return. Enjoyed our stay at Abington Manor. We only stayed one night and the Inn keeper was very accommodating to welcome us even though we arrived late. He gave us a great tour on the way to our room and told us a lot of the history of this home that had been built over 120 years ago, and all about its history. He was very knowledgeable despite only having recently purchased it. The house was very well decorated with antique furniture. We rented the Hunter room (paint color theme), which was very spacious with incredibly high ceilings. The bed was decently comfortable, but the pillows a bit flat. The bathroom was very modern with a walk in shower. The room included a complimentary breakfast. Which though good, still left me a bit hungry after. It included a fruit and yogurt parfait, a cup of juice and a single egg with 2 pieces of toast and bacon. I think they definitely need to focus on providing a little more a breakfast, to really make the entire experience more memorable. All in all, it was a fun change of pace for a night, something different than hotel. I would recommend if ever passing through the Florence SC area read more

We flew from IN to SC and took an Uber to get to the Manor, we love historic homes and this one was on my bucket list. So, if I tell you this was worth the trip, I hope you understand just how great the entire stay at the Manor was. The 1905 Greek revival architectural home did not disappoint, but that is not what we left with. Get ready to go back in time, when life was slower, more meaningful and service actually meant you got served. This is not the "first class coach experience of an Airline, that is a joke today". No detail is left undone or unseen. This is not about the outstanding rooms with cotton bed sheets with over 800 counts, or a mattress pad that will form to your body, no this is about FOOD and how it used to be an event to sit for dinner. Or in this case you get Breakfast as well as dinner. These experiences cannot be outdone. The service makes an outstanding meal stand apart; this is just not a culinary experience it is about the service level that comes with the outstanding food and wines. You will spend close to 2 hours just to eating the meal and it is not because you have a lot of food, but it is the process of which food was to be eaten. Each course is a process of service unparalleled in serving the plate. I am at a loss for words, just understand it took us a miserable flight with two connections and an Uber ride to get there, and IT WAS WORTH EVERYT MINUTE OF THE ABUSE WE RECIEVE FROM TODAY'S AIRLINES AND TRAVEL EXPERIENCE. I actually smiled on my way home as the flight attendant explained the federal laws that they could inflex on me for paying to fly with them. read more

We have stayed at Abington Manor a number of times, because it is a beautiful historic inn with welcoming, accommodating hosts, and food that is beyond compare. This spring, traveling to Massachusetts, after four months in Florida...with coronavirus haunting everyone...we chose to stop at Abington because we trusted Michael and Patty to provide the most meticulously safe refuge we could find along the way. We were not disappointed. A welcoming refuge it was ... clean, careful, and comfortable with an amazing dinner and delightful breakfast served in our room. This is a great place to stop over for all you snowbirds heading south this winter. It's a charming old historical house a bit off the beaten path but well worth the visit. The staff are friendly and attentive and the dinner tasting menu is fantastic. I have celiac disease and they were most accommodating to my dietary needs. After a long day of driving it was so nice to relax by the fireplace with a cocktail before dinner. Have no fear, all Covid -19 precautions are adhered to. read more

We visited the Manor in May of 2021. It was an out of the way location for us, but we decided to go. We had a wonderful stay, the accommodations were nice and the meals were delicious. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. And now for the rest of the story....the website says that they now require vaccinations! Needless to say, we won't be coming back to stay at the Inn. It is Sad to say that the hosts have chosen to jump on the mandate band wagon. Hope that they reconsider their position on this matter. read more

Sometimes you just luck up into a best kept secret location....which I think my wife and I did for our stay at Abingdon Manor. It's not far off of the beat path...thru a quaint little town that as Michael (an owner) made note...was just not open on Sundays. He met us as we pulled onto the grounds....a large, established spread with well done landscape...both day and night; ushered us in and showed us the layout of the main level and then to our room & bath. Awright...when I'm not playing piano around town, I'm a designer/builder for too many years going back into the early 70's. My eagle eye is on alert at all times for elderly properties and what folks do to short-cut around original details to provide a convenience....or for too many cases, to avoid the expense of replicating and duplicating craftsmanship. Not at the Manor. I quit looking after a while....the owners spared no expense in bring this property back whole. The bed....absolute luxury; plenty of pillows stowed away in the large closet; a nice tiled bath....shower walls and receptor with a heavy glass wall and hinged door. A few mirrors and an original pedestal sink...with shelving alongside so you didn't literally have to live our of your medicine/travel-case whilst in the bath. However...the true-test that I find failing at EVERY location...bed & breakfast as well as 5 star hotels.....the invisible, but very very important air exchange. The example...anytime you take a shower...condensation laden air falls on the flat areas...both vertical and horizontal and turns the counter tops moist and the mirrors and windows...fogged up. Even with the extended height ceiling of the original bath layout....the calculation of fresh air to replace the humidity & non-fresh air was done and a venting fan in place sufficient to exchange the bath air per minute was accomplished. With all the other things I could Yelp about (in a positive way) about the appointments, luxury, fine wines and food preparation and service....a very formal event at the evening hour btw....I home in on a consistently failed item for every other upper end hotel (and too many homes) and find that the Abingdon Manor had already looked into a)making the customers happy; b) protecting their investment to continue a). I could go on....but if Latta is nearby your stopping point en-route the expressway....do yourself the favor and visit with Michael & Patty at this wonderful property for a night or two. I've been spoiled by other B&Bs....but this place has outdistanced every other B&B by far...and a large number of the upper end hotels, too. Everything....had been thought out and taken care of to make your stay well worth the time and rate. read more

All upholstered decor was removed during this Covid epidemic which was very reassuring that all health precautions were being taken. Looking forward to our next stay! My family and I stayed here for a weekend and a cooking class and it was perfect! The old home is stunning and maintained so well - you'll feel like you have stepped back into time...drinks in the parlor, fireplaces in every room, ornate craftsmanship, lovely garden, etc. There is not much to do in Latta so I would recommend staying here for the cooking class (scheduled in advance) or if you want to simply rest and relax. The food is divine so you're in for a real treat! Plus the owners will make you feel right at home. Do yourself a favor and stay here! read more

My mom chose Abingdon Manor as the site for my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary party and we were not disappointed. This place seems extremely out of place for the area, but absolutely worth going to. We delighted in a 5 course meal, with each course better than the first. The town's claim to fame is Ben Bernanke (the Federal Reserve Chief) and they are certainly proud of it. We also heard stories that the inn had formerly been built by the first South Carolina senator after the Civil War and it had secret passageways hidden throughout. From talking to the owners, a majority of their guests are people who travel from the Massachussetts Cape to Florida every year. Latta is the halfway point for these travellers, so they have served various politicians during the short time they have been opened. read more

Late last year my wife and I, along with our Tibetan Terrier Lucy, had the pleasure of spending a night at the Abingdon Manor in Latta, South Carolina on our way back to Massachusetts from Orlando. Located just 5 minutes off I-95 in northern South Carolina, it is an easy on-off location. It was a return visit for us as we had enjoyed the first visit so much several years ago. Note that the Abingdon does not allow pets, but our hosts Michael and Patty had arranged for our dog to overnight with a nearby couple who allowed Lucy access to their home. The Abingdon was as delightful as we remembered it to be and our only regret was not arriving early enough for a stroll through Latta itself. The Manor has well-appointed and comfortable guest rooms as well as common rooms. Dinner was fabulous and the time flew by with the courses. The included hot breakfast was over-the-top as well. The Abingdon Manor will certainly be on our short list of return-to stops on future trips south. read more

We graduated from the very first Abingdon Manor Gourmet cooking school, kayaked the waters of the Little Pee Dee river, experienced the thrill of NASCAR at historic Darlington Raceway, have been expertly guided on nature tours, experienced local historic sites, enjoyed antiquing... and the best part is that we often do absolutely nothing but sit on the front porch in rocking chairs enjoying the quiet surroundings listening to the birds and romantic sound of a train whistle in the distance. I could continue typing wonderful accolades, but Abingdon is something you must experience for yourself to appreciate. If you are traveling, on business, vacationing or simply want to get away from it all, you owe it to yourself to visit Abingdon at least once in your lifetime. I promise you stay more than once. My wife and I were celebrating our 48th wedding anniversary; we elected Abingdon Manor based solely on its reputation for fine dining and old world comfort. We were looking for a special place to rest and dine in the Tobacco Country of SC. From the moment we arrived until we left 2 days later we were treated like family. Five stars simply aren't enough! Absolutely incredible in every regard. The 10,000 sq ft Inn is immaculately maintained and exquisitely decorated. The innkeepers, Michael & Patty, were warm and welcoming and attended to our every need. We only stayed one night while traveling from Florida to NY, and it being a Tuesday, found that we were the only guests at the Inn. That evening we found ourselves enjoying what was arguably one of the best meals we've ever enjoyed anywhere in the world. Patty serves as the Executive Chef and provided a 5 course meal that was absolutely heavenly. Michael served as our serve r and again was warm, friendly and remarkably attentive without being intrusive. Breakfast Wednesday morning was every bit as good as dinner the night before being prepared and served with the utmost care. I came from California to celebrate birthday with friends who grew up in Dillon, SC. Host arranged intimate dinner for a group of 5 and the party was second only to my 70th in Venice four years ago. The Manor itself is exquisite and the ambience rivals any of the best dining establishments in my section of the country, Napa Valley included. We had the large dining room to ourselves, with individual menus at our places noting my birthday. Pre-dinner spent with other guests in one of the beautiful parlors. I had a superb Sancerre before dinner -- and an excellent Argentinian cabernet paired with the beef entrée. The five-course dinner couldn't have been better. I especially liked the butternut squash soup served in delicate demitasse cups, the tequila sorbet between courses, and the scrumptious strawberry shortcake for dessert. That's not to take anything away from the appetizer, salad, or entrée. Unusual to comment on bread, but the rolls were the best I've ever had. Highly recommend Abingdon for a special occasion or anything that puts you in Latta, SC. read more
