We visited Cibo by Stefanos today for a casual family dinner -- our first time there. My wife, our toddler daughter, and I were hoping for a chill family spot, and the restaurant did have a "hole in the wall" vibe that felt casual enough. Unfortunately, the food and service didn't live up to expectations. I ordered a calzone, my daughter had spaghetti with Alfredo sauce, and my wife had shrimp scampi. The only positive was portion size. Everything else fell flat: my wife's meal came out cold and bland, the shrimp was tough, and the sauce tasted canned. The bread was stale and cold, and my calzone felt more like a Hot Pocket than a freshly made dish. Service was slow and unenthusiastic, like the staff didn't want to be there. Considering the prices, the experience was not worth it at all. I would not return or recommend this place -- I would give it 0 stars if I could. read more

Ordered take out based on the reviews here... Calamari was soggy but it's takeout so it was expected. Cavatappi pasta with meat sauce was so salty and overly cooked. The bread was stale. Beside San Jose on Celebration Blvd. The title Cibo by Stephano's made me weary of visiting but we did, dine-in. The menu on the chalkboard above register shows no prices & is not updated, be sure to use paper menu. Went w chicken panini & chicken salad. My added side salad was large & heavy on olives. I like olives but my wife doesn't and her many olives were not eaten. The panini was fresh, crisp, and bit dry but the provided dipping sauce helped make edible. For these 3 items & 1beer was $32, which is slightly higher than I would expect . I'm not big on Italian food but another person may find these menu items more reasonable. read more

I attempted to re-order a previous meal through the Cibo app and got the attached error message. So I ordered something else. When I drove through the drive in window, I asked about this error and was told that the items on the re-order could be RE-ORDERED, but after multiple attempts, I gave up. The meal I wanted to re-order is pretty basic: spaghetti with a side order of meatballs (same order as previous several visits). When looking back at the menu, meatballs are missing from it. That's a pretty basic item for an Italian restaurant to have, I would think. This restaurant seems to have too many ongoing issues with customer service. I'm beginning to doubt they'll ever get fixed. read more

Keep this review decently short and sweet. The food is great, but the staff seem to always seem sour. Our order has always been right and the food always decent at minimum, but every time we visit the staff take longer then they quote on our order and are not the nicest. One time I came in to inquire about prices for birthday cake and they said "she's on vacation this week" then walked away. Eat here. If you're on the fence...EAT HERE I honestly should've left a review sooner. I typically just grab a salad. The house is my fav but the teriyaki shrimp is bomb too! Since it's gotten colder I've started to try the paninis. The bread..FRESH...the cheese...delicious...AND THE DIPPING SAUCE THAT COMES WITH IT FU**ING BOMB And then there's the Sweet bakery there too. Cheesecakes, filled cupcakes cannolis! I've gotten cupcakes for my birthday from there before...multiple times, which i think says enough...their entree's come with fresh bread and EVOO for dipping which I love. I found this place searching for bakeries. We came here and realized they also had food so we ordered the kids grilled cheese with chips. The chips were homemade potato chips that had seasoning on them; very tasty. The grilled cheese tasted like they put a rosemary butter on it. My daughter is super picky and loved it! I got the red velvet, what I thought was a cheesecake, but was more of a cream-cake, not cream-cheese. The macarons were ok. The employees were very friendly and helpful. read more

This is an excellent choice for a quick lunch or dinner! When passing through Florence, I often stop and eat at one of the many great restaurants the town has to offer and this is one of my favorites! This is the quick serve version of their very popular Stefano's place. The menu is a bit more limited than Stefano's, but if you are grabbing a quick bite or you have your three small kids with you like I did on my most recent trip, this is a great option! The salad is fresh, the pasta is quite good and the gelato milkshakes are phenomenal! My kids loved the pizza, and my wife did too. I had the ravioli with bolognese sauce and I was very satisfied with my choice. I can also vouch for the panini, as I get that for lunch when I come through town. I've had Cibo twice now and both times, the food was very impressive. The first time I had it was takeout, so I could only judge the food, but I really enjoyed it and my order was correct (and it wasn't cold). Yesterday, I visited Florence for work and my coworkers suggested Cibo, so I was up for it- especially since we'd be dining in. I wish I'd read Kim's review before we dined so I knew how the counter setup worked. One counter is for ordering off the menu, and the other counter is "express", where you can get slices of pizza or a pre-made entree and side salad if you're in a hurry. Since it was only my second visit, I asked what was at the express counter, decided I didn't want it, then went to the "order off the menu" counter on the right. I don't eat most meats, so my first question for the worker was what was vegetarian and what she'd recommend for a vegetarian (The entrees weren't clearly marked on the menu). She said they could make the items on the menu vegetarian, which is great although not a huge help for my order. I decided on a vegetable panini and waited. My coworkers got the express items, except for one who got a salad that came out quickly. It seemed to take forever for my panini to come out, though! We actually had to ask the worker walking around who went back to check on it. I felt bad for my coworkers who were nicely waiting on me to eat. The panini was delicious when it came out! I do wish it had toothpicks inside it to hold it together, though, as it was packed with veggies and cheese and sorta fell apart. A bit messy but really good. The chickpea salad I had on the side was good too. The portions were large for the price, I thought. On our way out, the counter had samples of a chocolate cake, which was an nice little treat. I would recommend Cibo for food, especially to go orders. If you're going to eat in with a group, it is a little tricky with the express option vs. ordering, and if you eat in, there's a learning curve with the order/eat/pay process. I always do online orders here, it's just so convenient. I can't speak to the eat-in experience, but the to go experience is very good. I've have some dishes that I thought were better than others, but everything has been overall pretty good. My favorites are the chicken parm, baked cavatappi and pizza. My less favorites were the pesto (pretty oily) and gnocchi. But that's just personal preference. I would still recommend everyone give it a try. read more

When I got back to work I found the smallest stromboli wedge I've ever seen, no marinara sauce to go with it, and the food was lukewarm at best. Wow, where to begin? Well let's start with the fact that I have worked in the restaurant business for nearly 10 years. Due to this experience, I am generally very understanding of the occasional mistake happening and something not coming out right maybe because they're busy or because some extenuating circumstance has taken place. But there were 3 tables in the restaurant at the time. This was not that. Firstly, it's just a bad business model to have people order their food up front like it's fast food, then sit down to wait for their food, and then go back up front to pay at the end. Immediately makes it feel cheap and un-inviting and removes all the atmosphere and fun from the restaurant experience. But okay, so my girlfriend and I order our pasta and a glass of wine and sit down. The food is very quick. As soon as it was sat on the table, I was immediately confused. Firstly, the bread was not at all toasted and the olive oil was literally a full 3 ounce ramiken (insane for 2 slices of bread) and it had a big ball of garlic in it. My entree: I got the chicken tortellini, and I immediately noticed almost no color on the chicken whatsoever. Okay, not great but whatever, we'll see how it tastes. Then I pick up the bread, and not only is it not toasted, but it is stone COLD. Like just came out of the refrigerator cold. I have literally NEVER been served cold bread in ANY restaurant before, let alone an Italian restaurant. Genuinely the most confusing thing I've ever been served at a restaurant. I cannot get my head around the decision to serve cold sliced bread out of the fridge. So okay, I dip it in the oil. To even reach the garlic and lack of herbs in the bottom of this 3 ounce ramiken of oil, I had to soak the entire bite of bread in it. Way too much oil put in a really deep ramiken for literally 2 slices of cold bread. Either you never touch the garlic and lack of herbs or you just barely touch the top of the oil and they throw out 2.8 ounces of oil for every table. I can't wrap my head around it. So okay, bad start, but as I said before, I'm generally understanding so I just give up on the bread and move to my entree hoping for better things. Unfortunately, I was very much disappointed. I took my first bite and immediately reached for the salt, pepper, and Parmesan. I almost never touch the seasonings on the table at restaurants because I generally would expect them to serve properly seasoned food, considering I am paying $20+ per person for it. But okay, we season the food and move on. Second bite: oh god what is that horrid floury flavor? Where have I tasted that before? Oh yes that's right! "Honey, remember that time we bought dried tortellini at Walmart and it was horrible and tasted off and we vowed to never buy it again?" I say to my girlfriend. Yes, that's exactly what it is. Store-bought dried tortellini. Look, I don't expect them to hand-make tortellinis for $15 per plate. Of course not. But the DRIED ones? They're awful and the cheese tastes like flour and is incredibly dry. They sell refrigerated tortellini at the store that is basically as good as home-made and there is absolutely no reason to not use those and use dried ones instead. The chicken, as I said before, had no browning on it at all and therefore it had almost no flavor at all. I question whether they even salted and peppered it. Some frozen peas and a sub-par under-seasoned Alfredo sauce. And lastly, RAW onion in my tortellini. Raw. Crunchy and pungent. For all of these reasons, primarily involving the quality of the food and my being upset at paying $40 for this meal I could've made better for 1/3 of the price, and not to mention the complete lack of atmosphere and Chuck-E-Cheese ordering system, we got up, paid, and left. I did not finish my food or box-up my leftovers, which I always do. I was not rude to any staff because I know it is not the fault of the wait staff or cashier, of course, but the Owner should be absolutely ashamed. This was not an extenuating circumstance mistake to be forgiven and to try again another day. This is a failure of management. And it is especially upsetting considering this restaurant is associated with a long-standing and well-respected restaurant in town, Stefano's. We get toasted bread and reasonable amounts of oil there. I have never received raw onion in my pasta there. My pasta has never been dry and tasted like flour there. Considering the association, I expected much more. But beyond even that, considering this is a restaurant that has been in business for a reasonable amount of time, I expected more. My meal was not worth $45. I will not be back. I'll stay home and make my own pasta next time. read more

Do not know what is going on with this establishment, but I doubt I will return anytime soon. Placed a phone order for pick up at 5 PM. They said give them 20 minutes. Fine arrived at 5:26 PM and pulled around to the drive thru/pick up window. There was a car receiving food and I was two behind. Next car rolls up and receives their order and I pull up. And this is where the lack of training and customer appreciation will cause a loss of a customer, if they have not already lost customers. Instead of acknowledging me at the window, the employee punched in a phone order. I cannot believe an incoming phone call is more important than a customer waiting at the window to pick up an order that is ready. The other thing I cannot believe is that out of the entire staff only the employee that could have taken the phone order was the employee manning the pickup window with cars lining up. So, I am waiting while this employee continues to insert the order into his computer. I know there are more registers strategically placed in the restaurant. Finally, the employee recognized me, and I received my food sitting on the side along with half a dozen other orders. Do not ever start will the excuse we were very busy. Sorry, but in the real world of restaurant management, the paying customer will food waiting - should not be second fiddle to the order coming into the restaurant. And the employee handling the window with cars waiting should not make them wait while their food is sitting and getting cold. And that is exactly what I had when I arrived home. COLD food. I live 5 miles from this restaurant, so please tell me how if this food was hot when it was made, was ice cold with a 5-mile drive. Good food, good value, nice ambiance, but slightly confusing setup for a first timer. So as someone else mentioned, it was a little confusing going in the first time. From the outside it's not particularly easy to tell if it's fast food or a sit down setup but it's definitely more on the fast food side. There are 2 lines/counters you walk up to. The one on the right as you walk in is for general off the menu ordering. If you walk straight ahead you'll find the express line where they offer various specials. They had pizza by the slice, stromboli or calzones all premade. We ordered the pizza combo which came with a small salad, a drink, and a slice of pizza. It was a chicken, zucchini, and tomato pizza and it was delicious. But anyways, back to explaining how it works. So you place your order and they'll give you drink cups (and our case we also had our salads) and a little laminated card with an Italian word on it for you to take to your table and place in the stand. They reheated our pizza and brought the hot slices to our table. After you're done you take your little card up to the cashier station right by the door up front. I suspect they link your order to the little card because she didn't have to ask us what we had. Then you pay and you're on your merry way. Their menu is quite extensive for a fast food-esq place so I'd definitely like to come back soon. From arancini to calamari, pizza and porchetta paninis; it should be easy to find something for everyone. They also had a small selection of gelato next to the express bar. It would have been nice to have more signage explaining how the whole thing works but luckily the guy working at one of the counters was happy to explain how it worked to us. read more

The best place for lunch. They have an express lunch that changes every day, and they have a card that you can have stamped each time. After so many lunches, you get one free. Express lunch is either a slice of pizza with salad, stromboli with salad, or their change-everyday meal (usually a special pasta or hot sub). My favorite so far was a garlic goat cheese stuffed pasta dish - I wish that were available everyday! The salad is my absolute favorite, too. Their ranch dressing is the best in town. They also have gelato and a whole case of big, yummy looking desserts. I haven't been inside for dinner, but I have picked up a pizza and salads to go many times. Would definitely recommend for lunch. The restaurant is counter-serve and is slightly confusing about where to order. Don't let that turn you away though! read more

I head here once or twice on visits to the in-laws in Florence. Friendly staff and huge deli cases filled with culinary delights. On this particular day I chose something behind that glass window, Arancini. It arrived at our table hot and delightfully crispy. A heavy handed dunk into the bright, sublime marinara and I was ready to engage. Upon entering the crisp exterior you met with a luxurious lava of rice, cheese and and pancetta...heaven. So glad they brought this place to West Florence. You will not be disappointed. read more

This place is so underrated! the food is fantastic. It doesn't get too busy here, but don't let the atmosphere put you off. It is set up inside more like a deli would be, but the Italian food is no joke. Their wings are also some of the best I've ever had south of Buffalo, NY (where my family is from). I know wings. These wings are massive and cooked perfectly. The staff is always super friendly and appreciative which I love. and the price is extremely reasonable (VERY inexpensive for the amount and quality of food!). Left off 1 star because the wing sauce is a little overkill-- in amount, not flavor. I would ask for light sauce or sauce on the side. They were drenched and it took away from the flavor of the wings. Also the medium sauce is more of a thousand island creamy sauce where I prefer a traditional buffalo sauce. The interior is less "cozy" and more "grab and go" feel, like you'd see up north. So not bad, I'm just not used to it down here. Very clean, fast, friendly, polite and inexpensive. read more

My friend and I stopped by here for lunch last Saturday. Cute place, good parking. We both got the special which was Buffalo chicken wrap. We had to have waited about 15 mins for our wrap. For some people thats not a long wait, but there were only two other customers. Also their employee sat down and enjoyed his lunch while we are sitting waiting starving!
