I have always been a huge fan of Abita beers! From my first one: TURBO DOG to trying the strawberry and all the others, I was in heaven to be able to come here to their taphouse and enjoy some fresh cold beers! The have a huge selection on tap and even some special ones that you will never see in a can or bottle. They are more than happy to give out tastes and samples and even more than one or two. They have multiple coolers showing off their standards along with seasonal offerings in 6 and 12 packs. Additionally, the prices are pretty darn good on carry out beers. They also offer crowlers, growler refills and of course pints. A nice little store area houses all their merchandise and has a great selection from stickers to signs to coasters to t-shirts, you will find something that you like. We stopped in at Abita Brewing Company with Harvest Host. We parked our trailer at the end of the gravel parking lot; got set up then went inside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Abita is dog friendly - we just happened to meet a guy named Jason Lagan, who is a canine behavioral modification rehab specialist who came with 3 dogs; one of which was a dog he was fostering.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He was very informative about training dogs. We later met with him with our dogs in the fenced-in beer garden and we were able to learn how to stop bad behavior (humping) from one of our dogs. Amazing how quickly you can accomplish that. This was my first time visiting the brewery. Took a day trip from New Orleans and this was the last stop. About 10-15 of us rowdy guys were looking for a bite to eat and ran across this place, being confused after arrival. We confused this location with a Pub & Grille, but was not disappointed. I got the flight which was $20 I think and I was pleased. There's a smaller gift shop here as well, and we didn't tour. I overheard $7.10 for many different pours of beer and personally I don't think that's bad at all for a craft beer on tap. Worth a stop if you are staying in the area. Lots of parking. Tour is very informative and you get to go into almost every part of the brewery. The guided cost $10, but you get a beer token so its only a few $. They also have self guided, I am not sure if you get to see more or less on a self guided. Bar area is not massive, however there is a good amount of seating. There are table games and shuffle board. The drink selections is top notch. Not only do they have all of there standard beers on tap, they have a full range of Brewery only beers on tap, if nothing else this is the reason to stop by here. Many of these beers are uniquely flavored or have a high ABV. They have rum, by it by the bottle. Very very sooth drinking rum. They have some of the best Root Beer and Cream soda I have ever had, great for the kids.... Also this is a kid friendly brewery. Food. Like many breweries they have a rotating list of food trucks. So that can be hit or miss. gift shop is all reasonably priced. They have tap handles, shirts, stickers and more. Buy caned/bottled beer to go from the cooler. Great stop, if you find yourself in the area needing something to do, I highly recommend stopping by. I was thirsty after driving to Mandeville over the world's longest continuous bridge (Lake Ponchartrain Causeway), so after stuffing myself with seafood at the Rusty Pelican in Mandeville (see separate review) I drove less than 10 miles to Abita Springs/Covington to visit the Abita brewery. We didn't do the tour (tours are at 1 and 3 PM), but we enjoyed chilling out in the bar and retail area. We ordered a flight of 3 sodas (cream, root beer and Mardi Gras King Cake. My favorite was the King Cake soda. It had a clean taste profile with a spice finish. We ended with a flight of six which we did with 3 fruited beers (strawberry-gator, blueberry and Barney - mix of strawberry-gator and purple haze) and 2 cocktails (mojito and tiki rum), and a seltzer (Ocean Breeze). Of these, my favorites were the Tiki Rum, Mojito, strawberry-gator and blueberry. These were fruity, had a hint of sweetness and overall nicely balanced. Our bartender was knowledgeable and made good suggestions regarding the sodas and cocktails which I'd not tasted before those visit. The tasting room had plenty of inside seating and a nice outdoor seating area with a fountain. This was a spur of the moment trip because we saw how close we were to the brewery when we completed lunch in Mandeville. Folks, whether you are a beer drinker or not, Abita Brewery is a nice stop. Abita was my most recent brewery experience I'd like to chronicle into a Yelp review... or would that be my Yelp diary? Lol Regardless what day and what outlook I have at the time I always feel like I got to be cranking out the reviews for all of you. Anyway back to the point. Abita Brewing provided an enjoyable beer experience for Steve and myself as we tried out two of their beers. The first one was their amber. It was good. No complaints. Not my favorite amber I ever came across but it was fine. I was however quite impressed with their Office Party Holiday Stout. This was a milk stout that went down very smooth with elements of cinnamon, chocolate, vanilla and coffee which in turn made a very fine holiday beer as we approach the cooler months. We are heading into porter and stout season and the Office Party was a fine kick off for it. read more

I love Abita beer and I probably drink more Abita Amber than just about any other human on the planet. With that said I didn't fully enjoy my first few visits to the Abita Brewery Visitor's Center and Tap Room as it can get crowded and back when I did the brewery tour the first time it felt so rushed that I only got to enjoy four beers. Granted it was on a Saturday pre-pandemic times and going during the week is a much more relaxing and enjoyable time so that would probably be the best time for a visit and not during the hectic weekend. Back during my first tour the used to sometimes even run out of beer on some of the taps which as it is at the actual brewery I'm was confused why they couldn't just replace the kegs? Fast forward to 2023 and things are working much more smoothly and efficiently. The only real negative is that I find is the price of the beers in the tap room are often more expensive than what can be found at some bars in the area (although they do offer various ways to get discounts). The biggest challenge I see is the Tap Room closes very early these days which seems to be an all too common pattern in many businesses these days. This facility is certainly nice and the tour of the brewery itself is alright but I would like for them to add the bottling and canning process for us to see (at least through a window view at least) to get a full view of the entire manufacturing process. Since I LOVE Abita beer I do return here often to enjoy more good times. They have vastly improved their gift store as for a time it was easier to order t-shirts and other shwag online instead of the gift shop but now they have really made the merchandise area very nice. So Abita beer continues to make ongoing improvements in this space and I look forward to more good times here. I want to take the staff home with me. We went off the beaten track to find Abita. Once we did we were happy. The gift store and bar were both clean and bright. Fortunately, the wood tones in the bar muted the bright lights to some extent. The bar attendant was attentive and helpful. I enjoyed a stout and a Doppelbock. I also, took a six pack of the Doppelbock home. Surprisingly, I also enjoyed a taste of the oyster stout. Sounds a bit weird, right? They do not serve food here, but they do so at Abita cafe near the center of town. Good beer and good food is a good way to start the day. read more

First, let me say that I don't like beer- my husband does, however. We wanted to do the tour since we thought our sons would enjoy it (they did). Darah (spelling? rhymes with Sarah), did our tour. She was very kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. I mentioned not liking beer during the tour after smelling the hops and malts. She asked what I liked and I told her, adding that the only "beer" I have ever liked was a raspberry sour from St Arnold in Houston (which they sadly stopped making). Darah let me know they had a raspberry sour and let me try it after the tour. It was great! Over all, I really appreciated her knowledge and willingness to help me try something I would like since I didn't care for two of the other beverages I tried today. read more

What a blast! We wanted to try the beers we can't get in Iowa, so we did five-4 beer flights of their pilot beers. We sat outside but went inside to order the beers and to visit the Gift Shop. They do have tables inside as well was free board/card games you can borrow. Really nice ambiance inside. The bar krewe were great- very helpful. Excellent selection of over 30 beers on tap. Gift Shop was nice. They also sell 6-packs of some of their beers and hard seltzers. You can buy an Abita glass 64 oz growler for $5 (empty) and fill it with your beer of choice for a price. We stopped in at the Abita brewing company because we love Purple Haze. With so many flavors on top we tried two flights to get a variety. These beers had great flavors with fun twists that we don't normally have access to. The brewery itself is so well done with self guided and scheduled tours, lots of merchandise for purchase and of course your favorite drinks to go. I fell in love with the king cake soda and had to bring some home. Delicious! Definitely worth the trip when visiting LA! read more

Decided to come for a tour on a random Saturday. It was unclear where to turn in for the parking lot, so I missed it. You enter thru the bar and check in for the tour, then wait in the area by the gift shop. You are taken upstairs and shown the different steps of the process to make beer. It was cool to see how they reuse products to make the beer, reuse the energy and use locally sourced water. Then downstairs to see the bottoms of the reservoirs to make the beer and walked thru the brewing process. It was all very informative. The tour guide was amazing. Five stars go to the tour and the guide. I go into the bar to see about getting some beverages to go. The gift shop had no root beer, which I love their root beer and thought it would be cool to get some from there. I also noticed that there was a small batch brew I wanted to try, the hard sweet tea, but that was not in the gift shop. I asked the bartender who said she wasn't in charge of the gift shop but offered some to go cups. I don't think open containers for a single person driving 40 miles back home would be a good look. Decided to take a detour on our way home from Baton Rogue just to visit Abita. Was really impressed with the facility...it's a lovely NOLA front with a charming little beer garden. Checking in for the tour was easy & stress free. Tour is about $8, but includes tokens for either beer or soda. We had a little time to kill, so we got a beer (the peanut butter strawgator for me, turbodog for JA). The beers were crisp & fresh and we were able to take them with us when the tour started. Blake was our guide & he was friendly, informative & funny. Traded our tokens for some beers afterwards (office party was my next choice & was very very good). JA got more turbodog because he's nothing if not consistent. Hung out until we got hungry & decided to try the Abita brew pub down the road. They had a growler special on fridays, so JA & I both got growlers to take home...Purple Haze for me and for JA? You guessed it...Turbodog. Wow! Just off the Tammany Trace Bike Trail, this brewery really packs a punch! Wonderful brewery tour, relaxing atmosphere in the tap room & outside courtyard area. Did I mention GREAT brews too? This was soooo worth the trip! Although I don't recommend rock salt with your growlers on the way home. I had an 8 hour drive back to Atlanta & froze some of my beer. Oops. They do food trucks on some nights & we came on food truck night. Growlers were mostly $16/each Flights are available for like $10 depending what you pick I am obsessed with strawgator. It's like strawberry cream soda. They've got non alcoholic soda. Root beer was really good but the salted caramel was just weird. They have an earl grey tea beer - surprisingly good. Lounging Laguna is pineapple coconut and really good! All of their beers are good for the most part & the bartenders were all awesome. They have pint glasses for sale and some of them were cheap, like $3-4 It was hot when we went but they have an outdoor area with games, seatings, grassy space. Very cute setup. In the Voodoo Bar of the French Market Inn 2004 It's been a love affair ever since Amber is my favorite Strawberry being a vey very close second in a limited run during in spring time. When I visit NOLA, I usually can find a six pack stashed to bring home even when it's not spring. It wasn't until Oct 2013 that we were able to visit the Abita Brewing Company. I'm sure things are change now, but we were given full privilege to poor our own beers for tasting before and after the tour. We had a great time and adventure for my husband's 50th birthday. Coming from California, we have been missing all of the breweries. So we decided to stop by Abita to see what they have to offer. We were to late too take a tour, so we headed to the bar. The woman that helped us was super nice and let us taste just about everything before we got our pints. They have a wide variety of beers from The Boot which is like your typical Budweiser or Coors, to more complex beers like Shot Gun double I.P.A. I ended up getting a sour beer called To-Gose it reminded me of Kombucha so I really enjoyed it. Strawgator was my absolute favorite though, they also let us try the bluegator and that was awesome! They also make soda here so we got the kids a glass of rootbeer and headed outside where they have boardgames, and lawn-sized connect four. The great part is that they have a gated patio to keep the kids contained. They are kid friendly, and they do have a gated lawn across the street with corn hole and such. Fantastic tour for $5 with four 4 oz tastings. If you want to skip the tour, you can go straight ahead to the bar where they offer you samples to taste before your purchase. Strawgator was my favorite! This place is BYOF! So we stopped by central deli to get a muffuletta, got a family size zapps chips, and brothers fried chicken to pair it with out 12 - 4 oz beer samples from the tour with the 22 oz strawgator.
