i went to go get an alignment for my car and their was a lady at the front desk and she asks me " why do you need an alignment" with attitude too ( asking the obvious btw) and then an old man comes and tells me that it's too late for that when it was 3pm and they close at 5pm, and he tells me to come monday morning. I was on a job escorting a truck carrying an oversize load. Needed an axle bearing replaced as fast as possible because the truck driver was waiting for me. They show me the problem and answered my questions about getting it done quickly. Gave me snacks and water and had great conversation while I waited. These people are genuine and honest. I drive for a living and this is the best repair shop I have been to outside of my local shop. Very highly recommended. read more

Myself and my wife LOVE Able auto. I get raked over the coals anywhere I go. I know It's happening, so I've been jumping between shops for the past ten years while doing maintenance myself on our vehicles. Ever since we've found honest Abe, I'm going to be a lifelong customer. The rates are SO fair. I don't know how else to put this, but it's exactly what I would want to pay for the job at hand, and it's done quicker than any shop I've ever been to. Just last week, we had an issue with a stuck bearing during a routine inspection. Abe's wife called us up, told us what happened, said it will be done by tomorrow. The next day the car was done with a replaced bearing at the lowest price I've ever seen for that job. As a kicker, our 3 year old got a bunch of balloons and a bubble blowing set when I went in to pay. I told them that I'd be bringing my car in next week and it was a relaxed response of "No Problem". I know this sounds too good to be true, I've been dealing with 2nd rate mechanics my whole life. This shop is incredible. Honest to god, if you live in the Poconos, just bring your car to Able's. Took my 2018 Chevy Silverado for an inspection. Truck is in pristine condition. They took it for "test drive" then suddenly I was about to fail the inspection for a torn wiper blade unless they replace them. Like I would even put their cheap crap on my truck.. Obviously I couldn't prove they did it so I changed my wipers and took my truck elsewhere. Filed several complaints, department of consumer affairs, vehicle inspection authority... please people, don't take this crap sitting down, reviews are good but there's more that if enough of us do, they can be made to straighten up! read more

Took my step son's 2002 neon in for a PA inspection after being told by Firestone I needed to pay $1200 in repairs if I want my car to pass inspection. Able auto specialist said the rocker panels are bad but don't fail inspection but rear rotors were a little warped and thats all what is needed to pass inspection. After paying $260 my step son's car is back on the road a d I still have $$$ left in my pocket. Will bring all my vehicle here from now on. Very fair and reasonable price read more

The mechanics in this place are either major shysters (more likely) or have absolutely no idea what they're doing. The first tip is when I brought my car there and was quoted $675 to fix a minor leak in my exhaust system because the mechanic claimed the whole thing had to be replaced. Yea I took it to Midas in Mt. Pocono and had it fixed for under $100. If that wasn't enough... my mother is on a fixed income and needed a repair which she should have gone to the dealership to fix which was easily $10. Instead she was charged over half a grand. I found out about this afterwards and was FURIOUS. I know business is business, but on principle this place is no good. Save your money and peace of mind and go elsewhere. read more

The worst experience I ever had taking my car to a garage. After them changing the caliper, my car started to fall apart while I was driving. Luckily for me the speed was not high. Apparently they forgot to tighten bolts. If you think they admitted their fault and returned my money back you are mistaking . Save yourself money and aggravation, don't go to this place read more

I was referred to this auto shop by my warranty company. I received a call back from the manager which was a plus however upon my arrival the treatment that my wife and I received from the receptionist was unreal. I was actually in a real life situation where my car was breaking down I drove the car 16 miles to them and because I am from out of town she refused to service my vehicle due to the fact I had no proof that I was not COVID 19 negative. The receptionist and another customer decided to discuss the situation between themselves while I went back to my car to get my wife and when I returned to the office to await the repair she said if you don't have any proof with you I can't have you in here at the same tone the other customer was stating that she just finished her quarantine Which really had nothing to do with her in the first place the fact that the receptionist decided to discuss the situation with another customer was very unprofessional. Again up until that point the manager had treated me with respect and was very professional. What was even more insulting was that that same receptionist came outside to her car to get some microband spray and disinfect wipes while I was still sitting in the parking lot if that wasn't adding insult to injury .......I had to go to another shop the was two miles up the road to find that the problem with my car was coming from the mass airflow sensor and they found the issue in 10 min. I am definitely very disappointed in the way this woman acted if I had not seen a black man in the shop before me I would have definitely sworn that she was prejudiced but I'm not petty nor am I ignorant she is I hope this shop can prosper however I'm not sure if they will with the way they treat their customers read more

Beware this guy was angry before I even explained what was going on. My wife went in for inspection and he gave her all kind of bogus problems that was going on with her vehicle. Now granted I looked underneath vehicle and it was an oil leak. To make a long story short we paid $218.00 for a oil leak repair and the gasket was only 10 dollars and guess what guys still leaking. And he refused to clean all of the existing oil that was all over the place so I thought it was still leaking cause of the sloppy job they did. I reserved at car trailer from U-Haul and found this establishment thru the U-Haul website. My experience with U-Haul in the past has been excellent and still is. However this particular business is the worst U-Haul experience I have ever had. The woman behind the desk who claims to be the owner was very difficult and arrogant. When I finely had enough and got angry she threw me out and I was left without out the trailer I had reserved, which inconvenienced the whole series of people who were depending on me to show up with a trailer a few hours later. I've been to this place one time and one time only and I will never ever return again this mechanic is the biggest idiot I know he does not know what he's doing and he rips people off. I had my car towed to his shop to be fixed because there was a rattling and smoke coming from the front driver side fender.....my boyfriend and I told him to fix the problems and make sure the car can pass inspection. The price of the work kept changing and $3,000 later our car was not only in the same condition as when we dropped it off but the car broke down the same day we picked it up.......the mechanic is very unprofessional, rude and very disrespectful to women. I own 3 fleet vehicles and have been bringing them to Able Auto for a few years. Recently, after gaining my trust they tried to rip me off on unnecessary auto repairs. They told me I needed a rack and pinion which is $900 installed or my wheel would fall off. This was not the case, I brought it to Stars N' Stripes next door, and it was not needed. My wheel did not fall off like Able Auto said it would, I have been driving the car for 2 months every day. We had another car in there at the same time and simply asked for a dealership receipt showing the cost of the transmission part, which they agreed to do. After the repairs were done, they adamantly refused to show me the receipt from the dealer so we brought it over to Stars N' Stripes and they verified the part was never replaced. I called all of the Toyota dealers in the area and that part has not been sold in over a year. Able Auto on the 611 in Tobyhanna, PA earns your trust and once they do, they rip you off. We thought these guys were our friends. Stars N' Stripes is my new mechanic. They are good ol' boys that have been on the 611 for 35 years and know what they are doing.
