I am a Pizza hut lover, but while staying in Boulder Abo's was close by and I wanted Pizza! I had not tried Abos. I had lived in Longmont/Hygiene Colorado over 30 yrs then retired and moved out of state. I had not paid attention to how many Abo's are in Boulder County until looking at their web site today. Based on photos, I now know it was the owner working on Easter Sunday. My review was going to be on their Pizza which was amazing. This Pizza felt like all natural ingredients., great cheese, sauce & crust, DELICIOUS ! I just felt the community should know the dedication of the business owner. As someone from the Tri-state, I know good pizza, and have had a hard time finding a good place in Boulder, but ladies and gentlemen this is the best pizza in Boulder. In actual restaurant is so homey with cute murals and arcade games. The staff is so friendly and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. This place simply works for me, a solid combination of really good pizza, convenient location, good pricing, lot of space, ease of parking, and high-end customer service. They'll do pies or slices, and they're both creative and quick. It's a good stop for a quick midday snack or dinner with friends. Plus, they support youth baseball, and that means a lot to me. No. No. Never. Twice now I have ordered from here. Twice have they said they delivered my pizza. Twice have I never received my food. We have a large and loud dog that likes to yell at people walking up. This is not a matter of food being stolen (as they'd like to suggest). Then, both times, they're unable to do anything about it? Abo's makes solid pizza. I went in there earlier this afternoon and ordered a slice of pepperoni. I put red pepper flakes and honey on top. It was tasty, the crust was baked well, and the cheese was evenly spread over the slice. The honey made the pizza even better. I've never tried honey on pizza before, but the savory and sweet combination enhanced the overall flavor of the slice. The pizza sauce was nicely seasoned while the pepperoni had a slight bite to it. The service was quick, informal, and brief. Didn't have too much of an interaction with the guy behind the counter, but since it was such a fast transaction, I didn't mind. I would go to Abo's again for a piece of pizza if I were craving one. read more

I love Abo's pizza. They know how to do pizza. It smelled so good when I walked in. The aromas of the New York/New Jersey style pizza brought me back to my youth and all the delicious northeast pizza I consumed when I was younger. The staff was friendly and courteous. My companion and I ordered up three slices. They were happy to slice the third in half making it easy to split. Punch cards for 11th free slices and lunch specials are displayed near the register. I love a deal, so I started a slice one. There is a huge assortment of unique masks adorning the walls above the kitchen pass through. This definitely added to the ambiance. The empty tables were clean and clear at our arrival. A booth was open for us to enjoy an intimate meal in this casual setting. The space was wide open and there was plenty of parking making for a quick and convenient meal while we were short on time. The slices were so big that we could have got away with one each. The slices had the perfect balance of flavor and temperature. The ratio of cheese to tomato sauce was just right. The crust was a balanced chewy and crisp. The crust was free of black. This is an easy way to tell how often a pizzeria cleans their ovens. As per the norm with thin slice pizza there was a lot of grease. I unapologetically patted off the excess grease with a napkin. I heard somewhere that if I do this I can consume an extra forty slices of pizza in equivalent exchange for the fat in just the grease. Even if it's not true. I don't love or need that much grease anyway. I had only two minor complaints from my visit. The first most likely arose because of the particular day and time of my visit. This Abos location is close to Fairview High School. Naturally there were a few groups of students hanging out after the school day let out. When I went into the bathroom to wash my hands before I ate one particularly unsavory boy was apparently doing some weird or gross thing in the bathroom. I noticed the sink had a bunch of blood or chewing tobacco spattered around the sink. The boy promptly came out of the stall and left the bathroom immediately as I entered. That was nasty, but one of the employees apparently discovered the same shortly after and kicked out the delinquent and his friend. He then proceeded into the bathroom with a mop and bucket. The second complaint was that a few of the arcade cabinets and pinball tables were out of order. Luckily The Simpsons pinball was still in full effect. I know I'm nit-picking on this one, but neither complaint prevents me from giving South Broadway Abos a five star rating. I will definitely return to Abos, as I have for my many years in Boulder. They offer one of the best New York/New Jersey style pizzas I have gotten in Colorado. I recommend their food often. read more

Great pizza and great people! There aren't many places in town that serve good New York style pizza, but Abo's hits it out of the park. This is a place that has been near and dear to my heart for a very long time. It might be a little on the pricy side, but you get what you pay for. This place is perfect for a quick slice of pizza or to bring in for a pizza and movie night! The pizza is made to order, I always get bacon and pineapple with garlic, which is *delicious*. Nice, consistent seasoning on sauce and Gluten Free crust is so appreciated! The sauce is milder than other pizza places in town, which right now, in my preggo body is great. The only thing is GF only comes in the 12" size..Abos, please remedy this and make it available in all sizes. We are hungry GF pizza eaters:) I am totally sober, pregnant with twins. So I disagree that Abos is only a drunken, late night snack. I just had a GF extra cheese pie delivered (also appreciated, btw - that they deliver..and in less than 30 minutes today). It totally hit the spot! I don't know if I like their non GF crust as much as some of the other local pizza places..but as mentioned in other reviews, any establishment that makes a conscious effort to offer GF, has my attention. Go Abos! And, once you realize you have a gluten intolerance, it is hard to go back to non GF...I will continue to come here and hope Abos expands their GF options. For years Abo's has been my go to for pizza delivery BUT seems in the last few months the pizza quality has been going down hill - pizzas are really thin and ratio of crust to sauce is not so good. Abo's was a staple of any visit to Crossroads Mall when they had a location there during my youth. My brother and I were able to return to Abo's during a recent trip back to our childhood home. Any time I am in the area I make a point to stop here. Nothing has changed. Huge, floppy New York style pizzas served at a low price. The 20 years removed from Boulder, and its still the delicious affordable pizza I craved as a kid. There was an eclectic crowd here and a busy pace. read more

I would have given this establishment 5 stars but the name is a little misleading. Are there games? Yes, 3 or so 80's arcade games. So don't be expecting Dave & Busters little brother. That is the only reason for 4 stars. Is there pizza? Yes, and be prepared for humongous NY style deliciousness. There was a special that consisted of 2 slices and a drink for like 8 bucks. I thought damn that's kinda high, but oh well let's do it. Those 2 slices were the equivalent of at least a medium, maybe a large. It's not horrible pizza, but it's not great...and not even close to being as tasty as New York pizza.

So sad this is our local pizza place. It's dirty or even fifthly at times, the ingredients are the lowest quality, the menu is boring. But they thrive and probably make a ton of money on local charter schools ordering pizza delivery, and the middle and high school kids who eat lunch from nearby, or families having pizza parties (who really don't care about the food) but come because there is no other place and there are some gaming machines. I wish the family who owns this would let someone else buy the business who wants to make it a great pizza place for the community. For years my husband (who is from Boulder, CO) kept telling me that no pizzeria in Miami (where we currently live) could ever compare to Abo's Pizza in his hometown. So during our trip to Colorado to visit his family I decided to give it a shot, and all I can say is...he was right! As much as I hate to admit that (perhaps other spouses can understand), of ALL the pizza I've tried, Abo's now sits on that top of the list. I'm a native to the Northeast and Abo's South Boulder is my favorite pizza in Boulder. Try one of their new pies the Walker Ranch or Super Walker. Both are awesome. A great place to bring the family when you want to get out of the house but don't want to break the bank on dinner. read more
