Sigh, how I wish we had a Flower Child near me. I love the variety of their menu and especially dig they have protein plates that come with a generous serving of two sides. I went to this location twice in 24 hours, the first meal was my favorite-salmon plate with Kale Salad and Red Chile Glazed Sweet Potato. Now I've had a good number of sweet potatoes in my life but these are the most delectable I've ever had! They're served with chopped bok choy with a light, fragrant glaze that has been itching to look for a knockoff recipe. The next day I went light with tofu and the potatoes and Grilled Asparagus Mujadara. I'm still not sure what the latter was but it was good. I ordered the yakisoba noodles with chicken, and they were just a bit too salty for my taste. Honestly, I'm usually the type of person who stays quiet, doesn't say anything, and just never comes back. Thankfully, the manager, Iva, was so incredibly kind and professional. She noticed, made me feel totally comfortable speaking up, and jumped straight into problem-solving mode. She gave me a ton of options, asking if the kitchen could add something to balance it out or if I wanted to try a new dish entirely. While visiting Boulder my wife and I were happy to find Flower Child. Of course we only have so much time while visiting and want to try so many places but Flower Child was so good we had to have it twice in such a short time. We did a day trip in Boulder and we're impressed with the many delicious dining options available! We wanted to pick up lunch to go and eat at Chautauqua Park nearby. My husband opted for an empanada spot but Flower Child caught my eye with its many veggie options. I ordered the Mother Earth bowl with tofu and it was delicious! There were a few different components of the bowl that all complimented each other and with the added tofu made for a filling lunch. The tofu was marinated/season in something that gave it the flavor profile reminiscent of baked chicken. Today was my 1st time here, ordered for takeout a salmon entree: the salmon was very bland but cooked well, the rice was fine, the glazed sweet potatoes were very, very bad. Some of them were brown/black in places (didn't look like it was coloration due to a char or a grill) & some pieces were so uncooked it was like biting into a raw potato, so I had to take a small bite of each piece carefully to see if it was even edible or not. I met up with a friend who was in town visiting and I think we were there for close to 3 hours. The staff were all very upbeat and friendly and had no problem with us staying there and chatting. They have an indoor and semi-outdoor area...lots of seating. The food is all healthy and delicious. I ordered the butternut squash lasagna and it was so yummy. They also have great portions and all sustainable packaging, including straws made from plants (which blows my mind). I highly recommend going and checking out Flower Child if you haven't already! Popped in here while cruising neighborhoods in advance of a likely relocation to the Denver area from out of state. We were searching for a place to eat where we could get a good salad and other healthy-ish options after too many days of road trip calorie bombs. Hahaha. You order and pay at the counter, then grab your own non-booze bevs and utensils, and take your number-sign to a table of your choosing. The excellent patio (some covered, some not), decent portions, high quality ingredients, and lovely staff, all make it worth the price. That day's soup (a minestrone with quinoa and white beans) was full of veg and very tasty. As a huge fan of soups, I could've eaten a double order of just that for my entire meal. Yum. I also had the chopped veg salad with grilled chicken add on. It was perfectly fresh, with a nice combo of vegetables, a generous amount of tasty chicken, and a delicious not overly sweet miso dressing. A light but filling dish. Will def get this one regularly. Husband had an enchilada "bowl" which was really just a plate of enchiladas. It was good but not amazing. Probably wouldn't get it again. He also got the avocado hummus with pita, and that was really quite good. We both had wine, which were both of decent quality, and reasonably priced per pour. If you want fresh healthy homemade style food, love patios as much as we do, and don't mind paying a bit more for it, give this one a shot. read more
