I checked out several places including other Petco stores and fully dedicated dog training facilities. Except for 1, I didnt like the people running the training centers. They were not very welcoming. The 1 I liked had terrific people working there, but it was a little too far to drive for regular training sessions. The other Petco stores did not have training class schedules that fit into my schedule. Now I am going to explain why I decided to sign up at this Petco. My wife and I walked into the store and Gene greated us with energy. He also answered all our questions. Lastly, he said tell me when you need a class and we will get it on the schedule. He went above and beyond!!! The people he has working in the store have the same mentality as him. You can tell that he set the tone. Next, I am going to tell you why I recommend them for training. Our trainer is Erin and she is Great. I did not expect much because this is a Petco, but she is freakin good at working with the dogs & owners in class. We took our older dogs many years ago to a fully dedicated training facility, but they seemed more interested in the dog/owner combinations that were going onto the next level of AKC competitions. Erin at Petco is not worried about that. She is more focussed on helping you and your dog understand each other so you can live a long happy life together. I truly believe these classes at Petco are a great first step if you want to go onto the next level of AKC events or if you just want to be able to take your dog in public and not be embarrassed.

I lived all over the world,…read morecollecting dogs in my travels, and moved back to Hudson at the beginning of the summer with my now husband and 2 dogs. We work A LOT so I was blowing through dog walkers and dog sitters left and right. My dogs are small. They're sweet. They're emotional. They require some patience and tenderness that I was sure I was never going to find in a dog walker/pet sitter. I have an irrational obsession with both of my dogs -- I found one in kennel in South Korea, sick and abused. The other we got at another shelter and she is vivacious and social when comfortable, but often uncomfortable. They sleep in the bed. Eat salad. You get it. I'm crazy, my dogs live well and I want them to always live well. My husband told me a few weeks after moving to Lake Boon that there was a dog daycare on our street, 3 houses down. I thought he was seeing things. I had spent the entire summer interviewing, hiring and being disappointed by dog walkers/pet sitters. "She hid under the couch so I didn't walk her" "he didn't eat... last meal was 3 days ago. is that ok?" On and on. So, there was NO WAY there was a pet sitter on my street. And my husband now can say "this is the one meaningful, useful thing I have contributed to our relationship" - he found the BEST dog sitters ever! 5 doors down. We recently traveled internationally and for the first time ever, I gave my dogs to someone who doesn't share half my DNA. This was not easy. We are back now and my dogs are so happy and I can tell they have been happy since we were gone. I know they missed us but they were SO well cared for. They slept in beds. They snuggled. They played. They walked. They got individual attention - they were cared for as well as I would care for them and that is soooooo perfectly wonderful. You all are fantastic and we thank you so much! I feel like I'm leaving my dogs with... myself away from myself. Does that make sense? Maybe not. Do not hesitate to contact Nancy for all your pet care needs. I have been researching cat rescues/shelters in New England with particular attention to the ones…read morelocated in Massachusetts. CARMAH or Cat Rescue of Marlborough and Hudson is a rescue organisation which does a fantastic job of adopting out cats. Even during this hectic period of Covid when applications are flooding shelters and rescues, they do a thorough job of reviewing all applications and respond quickly to all inquiries. CARMAH has no bricks and mortar base and so relies on many volunteers and staff to take in unwanted/stray cats and place them in foster homes where they are lovingly kept until forever homes are found. I dealt with Liz, who is the adoption coordinator. She was unbelievably helpful. After everything on my application checked out, and they certainly do contact all your references, she arranged a great virtual visit with my kitty's foster mum. Jennifer was so open and kind and was available for emails and texts. Picking up my new fur baby was done very safely with all safety precautions due to Covid. I could not have been happier on my drive home with my new kitty. She is exactly as she was described. I have seen instances with other shelters where the cat has not matched its description. Since my new kitty has been home, I have maintained the relationship with kitty's foster mum, who has been so gracious and helpful. I also had dealings with Melissa and Brittany, also with CARMAH. Again they could not have been more helpful. So from new kitty and me 10 out of 10 "mewows" for a purr-fact experience.

These people have no idea how to care for a pet. Their…read moremethods are laughable and they treat the animals as though they are liabilities. I was denied due to their belief that a fenced in yard (9ft PVC and unclimbable) is an unsafe area for them to enjoy the outdoors. These types of people would rather treat their pets as objects and keep them under lock in key in a small room rather than allow them the freedom to explore their own nature. I have loved and cared for cats for almost 30 years, never abandoned or given up a cat but apparently I am not capable of caring for them properly. The kicker is that I discovered the kittens that I attempted to adopt living outside underneath someone's stoop and sent them to Carmah for a chance at a better life. I apologize to those babies and hope they make it through the unreasonable and untrustworthy care of Carmah.
