Brandon failed to verify permit requirements with the City of Lakeway for the buildback portion of the job, which caused additional delays. I was then told the delays were because I would not hand over the full insurance payment before the rebuild even began, which I had been advised not to do. I also did not feel the company was transparent about the subcontractors working on my home. After the mitigation work was finished, I chose not to continue with them for the rebuild. Windows and doors were left unlocked, wood from under the dumpster was left on site, and trash from subcontractors was left in my garage. Overall, I would not recommend this company. Your response to my first review leaves out important facts. I was asked on 12/10 to turn over the full insurance amount for the buildback before I had even received a scope of work, which was not provided until 12/12 after multiple requests. On 12/16, I reported the dented microwave, asked to review subcontractor estimates before any work was scheduled, and specifically raised the issue of permits. At that time, I was told permits would be properly obtained and estimates and scopes would be shared in advance for review. If your actual position was that no permit inquiries or other buildback steps would happen unless I first handed over the full insurance amount, that was not clearly communicated. I paid what was owed for the completed mitigation and remediation work, which took more than three months to finish. My decision not to move forward with the rebuild was based on the lack of transparency, the delays, the conflicting communication, and the condition in which my home was left, including unlocked doors and windows, debris left behind, and damage I reported during the process. At no point was my concern a refusal to pay for completed work. My concern was being asked to release roughly $78,000 before I had any real transparency into pricing, estimates, or the full scope of the rebuild. Combined with the delays, the communication issues, and the condition of my home, I did not feel comfortable trusting them to handle the rebuild.

The team came out to inspect the work, made a repair that did not work. Roof continued to leak and now the company advised me to hire someone else to complete the repair, they claim the leaks are a coincidence and not related to their work. Steve Powers told me it was unfortunate I was experiencing leaks, but it was misguided to blame the company's work. Now our insurance company is having to get involved.

He offered to work on Sunday to get everything taken care of. At 8 am sharp, Martin, Carlos, and 6 crew members showed up with 3 trucks, two trailers, a wood chipper, and a tractor. The crew worked tirelessly until sundown, always pleasant, and always working. They left the yards, worksites, and street spotless. As they were cleaning up and preparing to leave, an additional neighbor asked if they'd be willing to take care of his yard as well. Instead of being annoyed at the idea of the time and costs to send a crew again, he was reassuringly chipper and said not to worry because revisits are to be expected in construction work. Coming with a sense of ease from the owner, this attitude alone is enough to make me confident to be a repeat [detail-oriented] customer. - Because some rot can't be discovered until construction starts, Gabriel mindfully added buffers to the measurements as a precaution. Still, some areas didn't need replacements (which I assumed I'd eat the costs) and other areas needed more replacements (which I assumed I'd be charged), and Frank figured they more or less canceled each other out. Zero nickel and dining for a few extra feet here and there. - I don't think this was intentional, but I'm glad they brought out a different crew to complete the carpentry before painting. It's not uncommon to send the original crew to ace a job, but I always prefer fresh eyes and fresh mentalities than workers who might feel like their work/ ego was criticized. - Everyone was always thankful (thankful!) that I'd raise a concern, whether it was requesting more explicit language on the contract, inquiries about materials and processes, or reviewing paint designs. - Because we were also getting our roof fully replaced around the same time, I long-windedly expressed concerns about the stages of construction with Jennifer over the phone, and her follow-up email recapping our conversation was total proof that she was truly listening and digesting the specific points I made. (A lot of people in the construction industry completely lack these skills for empathy and communication.) - Siding is level. Siding painting was so very smooth - what talent! My only two complaints are (1) painter's tape should have been used for hand-painted sections, where paint unevenly ran onto window frames and (2) the gable vent's back insert could have been shaven down to account for the unlevel framing on the house. Basically, the section where the gable vent is inserted into the house is a little crooked, but PSP could have tried hiding the fact by shaving some of the gable vent's back in order to rotate it to appear straight in the front. - Beyond being a certified James Hardie "Elite Preferred" contractor, PSP's integrity, old school values, and long-term perspective has won us over. They quoted a price - which came very close to what the insurance company was willing to pay (Roof Joker & insurance company did NOT work together to determine the cost of the repair). We now have an upgraded roof (above the builder grade). It took them two days to repair to roof - and they cleaned up rather well. BTW - they do not send out "agents" knocking on doors to drum up business - their reputation brings them the business. Their crew are long time workers for Roof Joker and not from Lowe's or Home Depot parking lots.
