I do not recommend this ABA agency. There is very poor communication with parents from the manager…read more The owner promised to find staff at the start of services but couldn't find a single technician after two months for the San Diego South area. Then, they requested that we change insurance for my kids in order to keep services, but without behavior technicians. They also failed to maintain services until we fully transitioned to a new company. I am very frustrated with this company. Don't waste your time because they lack professionalism and fail to fulfill the basics.

Well, what can I say about ABAcus? Probably too many amazing things to fit in this review. But…read moremaybe I can express how much they have helped my family and I know they can help yours too. Our ASD Story: We have a now 3 1/2 year old who was diagnosed Autism a little after his 2nd birthday. And of course being first time parents we were totally overwhelmed and scared about our new path that we were being placed on. As many of you who are going through the evaluation process it is hard on the parents. This was the same for us. Not knowing how to decide what services to use, or methods to implore left us feeling extremely underqualified as parents. We didn't know what to do or who to turn to. Luckily San Diego County does have very good recourses for those effected by developmental differences. After diagnosis through the San Diego County Regional Center system we were assigned to the ABAcus team as our service providers. Boy can I tell you this was the best thing that could have happened to our family. When we first meet the wonderful folks at ABAcus my sweet boy seemed to lost in his own world. He would not respond to his name, make eye contact, and had lost any language that he had learned in the first few months of his life, just to name a few of his quirks. But when we look at my boy now I am truly amazed by his accomplishments and growth. He now will make and maintain eye contact (even if it's only a few seconds - progress is progress), will respond to his name, and is growing his language every day. And I mean every day - We do ABA Mon-Fri. NONE of this would have been possible without ABAcus. We have two service providers and a supervisor that regularly work with my kiddo, and let me you how amazing they are. They are patient yet firm. They are ALWAYS evaluating his goals to make sure that he is getting as much out of our time together as possible, and it shows. I can tell that they really care about my son and my family. Not only to they care about my son's growth and progress, they also take the time to help us learn the skills we need to help our son succeed. If you are looking for an ABA provider you should definitely give ABAcus a try. They have given us back the ray of light and for that I cannot ever really express how grateful I am for ABAcus, and the folks make it as amazing at it is....

There are not enough words in a dictionary to describe what brain balance has done for our family!…read more When we started 5 months ago, we were living in full blown crisis mode with our daughter. At 11 years old, she was eloping from school 2-3 times per week, would throw raging tantrums, hygiene was low on her priorities, and she was very sad and withdrawn. I could never properly explain our struggles. It was like living with a toddler trapped in a full size child body. Upon receiving her assessment, on paper they confirmed everything we'd seen for years. Her brain was weak on the right side and she was an average age of 4 years old. Fast forward 5 months, her brain has reconnected and both hemispheres working in concert. She's happy, focused, can read, tantrums are nearly gone, she able to be reasoned with, he fine motor skills are working, she knows her body in relation to her surroundings. Her confidence is building, her self image has improved, she has expressed goals of wanting to be a writer or a disney imagineer. She's now at an age level of 11-18 depending on the range of test. School is astonished at her growth. Our family can be a family doing family things! We just enjoyed 2 days at Disneyland with zero meltdowns. Something we've never been able to do before. Jon, Amanda, Rachel, Lauren, Chad and James have truly been the support net our family needed! Thank you for the incredible dedication you have to work with kids who need this the most. You mean the world to us!

Overall I was very skeptical when beginning brain balance. Our 9 year old daughter was struggling…read moreevery day in school. Crying on the way, refusing to do homework. Major aversion to learning. I did a TON of research, spoke with pediatricians (4), spoke with two principals, our school, her teachers, and had her tested at brain balance (I think it was $195) and also paid over $3000 dollars to have a two session testing done by Psychiatrist who is the person who does the testing for the Poway school district when kids fall two years behind in school. Because my daughter wasn't two years behind I had to pay (insurance doesn't cover it). Obviously the 3k test was very comprehensive and took two weekends to complete. The diagnosis was visual processing disorder and ADD. She was given the recommendation to go to therapy and get on meds. Visual processing disorder basically means: She can't read instructions and turn them into action, couple that with ADD and learning was a hot mess for her. The brain balance assessment does not diagnose, but it did indicate that among other weaknesses her main deficit was visual processing. That gave me confidence that aT least their testing was accurate. Then comes the huge sales pitch. The program was expensive, relatively new, etc etc. After much delay, thought, education and doctors opinions and therapists appointments we signed up for half the sessions they recommended in case it was not working. I have to admit I was still very speculative but there was no harm in it, and the worst possible case was that I lost money. I am happy to say she loved going. She's finishing her sessions next week and her scores in everything started under her age. She's now over her age group in everything except visual processing. Her grades have improved dramatically, her resistance to homework has improved dramatically and her confidence in learning has improved dramatically. We have zero crying and she never said asks to skip school anymore. She still has a ways to go visually but we now have the exercises to strengthen them and we know to get her vision checked and use her glasses constantly. Overall, we put our heart and soul into figuring out what was wrong and then helping her. So it's difficult to say which of the one million things we did helped us work it out, but I do think brain balance was an integral part of it, to my surprise. And I'm happy that we found a solution for the moment that allows her to feel confident and enjoy her day more, but we didn't have to medicate her. We are keeping medication options open and watching close, but so far this is working for her and I'll hold off on meds until I feel i have no other option.
