I have recently written two very respectful letters asking for a surgical report from the AVH vet who performed the additional surgery that I believe should not have been performed. My beloved dog had a perianal mass resected successfully by her. And, while he was still sedated they called me and said I should allow her to also neuter him while he was there and still sedated. I was against it and felt it to be unnecessary at his age. "My" regular vet coerced me to allow the surgeon/vet to do it. Now, I am asking validation that this 2nd and sequential unnecessary surgery did or did not cause an iatrogenic injury which caused him to decompensate rapidly. I have received no response, no return call, no letter. Nothing from her or anyone else. read more

Came in through ER with my 14 year old Westie, after off and on breathing difficulties. X-rays showed dire situation with no hope of remedy, so decision was made to send her off peacefully. You will pay for it though (like double to triple regular price) We changed vets about three months ago and are about 7k in debt from trying to help two sick cats we found in a wood pile. They don't care about you or your animals. Then the receptionist and vet will have no problem telling you to go to the welfare vet if you can't afford it. Now I understand why so many people are abandoning their pets. You'll wait forever to see the vet, and with all the madness you'll NEVER get a full reasonable vet who cares about your pet. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience. I brought my dog in for G.I. upset and was there for over three hours just to have fluids and medication administered. I understand emergencies happen, but there was no communication or updates while we waited, leaving us in limbo the entire time for something that should not have taken that long. While I was there, another pet owner, an older woman with a dog suffering from heart failure, was on the verge of tears and decided to leave due to the wait. I overheard a vet tech dismissively say, "Let her go, let her go," which was shockingly insensitive. Another tech looked at me, acknowledging I saw what happened, which says a lot about the energy in that place. After charging me nearly $400 for fluids, anti-nausea medication, and a probiotic, the clinic could not even extend the courtesy of a simple can of food for my dog. I explained to the vet that I am not from the area and am staying in a hotel with only a microwave, and because they had me in there waiting for so many hours, I was unable to get the rotisserie chicken she suggested. Despite explaining this, they still wanted to charge me for a can of food, showing a lack of compassion for the inconvenience they caused. Vet care is not just about medical treatment; it's also about how you treat the people who trust you with their pets during stressful moments. September 25 2023, I had to take my Dog here because I noticed he was ill, it was 3 days of hell, that 3rd day we went into see if his condition was getting better as I thought it was as one can only hope especially when it's the dog you have loved and cared for for 6 years, this place had no clue what was wrong which is understandable when his condition was deteriorating rapidly, as he was getting checked out I waited in the waiting room and another family was there to put there beloved dog down, the staff who performed the euthanizing came out with a box containing there beloved dog and they proceeded to LAUGH as they are wheeling the dog out with the family in the other room, you gotta be kidding me you watching a family grieve and this is how you act??? A few hours later after I'm already pissed off my beloved dog Gunner was put down around 11pm, the staff stated quality of life and what we should do so we made the tough call, it was horrible going through that experience especially since now I'm writing a review after 3 years. Never take your pet here there horrible, and at the end of this they had NO IDEA what the cause of death was even after examination, I can't express how hard it is not to use language typing this. This place is horrible, they'll laugh after your pet is put down knowing your in the other room grieving, they also charge a arm and a leg but I'm not worried about that due to it being an emergency visit I can understand that, screw this place and it can rot for all I care. read more

After an accident had occurred with my pup, this was my first experience in requiring emergency medical services. Upon entry, this facility is beautiful and clean. Full disclosure, I can be a bit of an emotional person and my rescue dog is quite anxious as well- and the accident that transpired had both of us incredibly worked up. Considering this, each staff and every staff member was incredibly receptive, informative, and kind with me and especially compassionate and patient with my dog. The medical / vet professionals were very thorough in ensuring peace of mind and plan of care to follow. Great experience in the face of adversity. I do apologize greatly as I do not recall her name, but the vet tech that assisted in having me checked in and then primarily took the vitals of my pet was beyond patient and compassionate towards my very anxious Daisy Mae. All staff members were friendly and warm! The doctor was evidently knowledgeable and had answered all anticipated questions before my even having to ask. Absecon vet is a money making hospital that do t give a shit about your pet. I had to take my dog there for an emergency visit cause he wasn't breathing to good. They took him back and then came into the room we were in to explain what was going on. Dr Wintergrass told us he was in congestive heart failure. She said she could treat him he would have to stay overnight on oxygen. She never told us that he could die in 2 days. She said he could live a good life on medication. His heart murmer was a five and a half to a 6. She said he could last 6 Months to 3 years. Well 4000 dollars later my dog died within 48 hours of leaving there.I called them up to see if I could at least get half my money back cause my dog didn't even make it for 48 hours. They told me no cause he was treated there, they were very ignorant to me on the phone. They should of told me to put my dog to sleep with a heart murmer that bad but no they wanted to see how much money they could get out of you when your in a vulnerable state. I was there with kitty cat for ear infections the vet tech was Kevin was very rude not friendly has a personality of a skunk. He was very rude. Couldn't even look at me basically trying to up my bill. All I wanted is kitty cat to get her ears cleaned and get out of there the vet was not as friendly as they usually are, I believe they were in a rush just to get to other patients and the price unbelievable $237 for an ear infection and a rabies shot. Ridiculous, I'm very very upset was not satisfied with the care that they gave kitty cat. I don't think I'll be coming back. I'll be shocked to come back. I'm looking for another vet now. They were very kind and let us come in very close to closing one night for an emergency visit. My dog was throwing up and had bloody stool, and he probably would have been fine at home, but it was nice to go and have the doctor examine him & explain everything to us. They gave us anti nausea and anti diarrhea medicine & the medicine really did help us all get a good nights sleep after coming home. DO NOT USE THE ABSECON VET HOSPITAL! So wanted to share our story about the Absecon vet hospital so none of our neighbors get exploited and taking advantage of in the name of them making money. Our one dog has bad allergies and ends up with other issues because of them, this time it was a uti (pretty standard for her) so we go to the vet with a urine sample to get antibiotics and to get her an allergy shot. They denied giving her the shot, claiming the infection needed to be treated first, completely ignoring her chewing on her toes and not listening to be that her daily stuff wasn't doing enough. They came back and said she had crystals in her urine (a sign of bladder stones) and that they'd need to do an ultrasound (learned after the fact that X-rays are way more conclusive but Absecon pushed for the ultrasound). I was never shown the ultrasound, the vet said she did it as a "teaching moment" with the student that was shadowing her so she wouldn't have to charge me. She comes back claiming there's tons of stones in her bladder and an unusually large one that needs surgery. She then give me antibiotics for the uti, tells me the allergy shot can happen once she's done her meds, prescribed urinary track food ($100 a bag for like 20lbs), and told me the dog absolutely needed surgery and that the surgery team would call me the following day. My dog also released her anal glands in a panic with the vet techs and they brought her back to me covered in poop and oil and then never gave me anything to clean her with after acknowledging that she released her glands. We were quoted $2800-4500 depending on the severity and they wanted to do the surgery within the week. We decided for a second opinion because surgery is scary and we wanted to be sure. We went to where my parents used to take our family dog in Marmora (because they lost a dog in the 90s due to misidentification of a tumor at Absecon vet and my mom wouldn't go back). So Absecon refused to send over her records. We called twice during the week and were told it would be handled but it wasn't, and the new vets office called too, but no response. So new Doc does an X-ray to confirm BUT there's no stones. Does a urinalysis to be sure, could've been a really rare type, BUT everything is fine. Absecon was trying to force us into surgery for a condition that my dog didn't fucking have. We'll see if they give me my records in person and I want a fucking refund. read more

Pets are supposed to be humans' best friends and family. Therefore, when we entrust our pets to a "animal hospital" we are expecting that they would be cared for in a safe environment. It disheartens me to say that after visiting the Absecon Veterinary Hospital multiple times and spending thousands of dollars, my dog has not been treated and we felt scammed every time we went. Here is the story: My dog Angie has an enlarged abdominal area every time she is in heat. It looks just like pyometra. I've brought Angie to the AVH over two years ago to ask if she can get spayed. Every time I went, they asked for her to do two rounds of shots, blood tests and even heart exams before they can even schedule a "pre-surgery visit". Due to the COVID restrictions last year, we had to wait inside the car as the staff brought Angie inside. She was very anxious and nervous because she felt like she was being pulled away from us. After paying for the emergency visit, general and blood exams, the staff brought her back out and told us that they couldn't even examine her because she was "aggressive" and wouldn't let them touch her belly. But we still had to paid for the exams. On top of this, they claimed that Angie has a "heart murmur" because they heard her heart beating fast. If you put yourself in the dog's situation, how would you feel being dragged away from your family into a hospital with strangers you've never met trying to insert you with needles? Your heart would beat fast too, right? The veterinarian then asked for us to get her heart examined by an animal heart specialist which would've cost thousands of dollars. It also is not the reason why we even came to the hospital for. We came to treat her uterus infection! Angie was prescribed anxiety medication and sent home. The staff advised that if we have to bring Angie back for any other visits, she has to take the anxiety medication 90 minutes before her appointment. After spending thousands of dollars doing various exams, we were finally allowed to schedule a "pre-spaying surgery" visit two weeks in advance. I drove 3 hours from New York to New Jersey just so I can take Angie for this appointment at 6pm. But because I gave her the anxiety medication at 4:40pm instead of 4:30pm, the staff on the phone asked for me to reschedule. I asked if I can come in at 6:10pm (10 minutes later) instead and they said I would now have to pay $118 additional for an emergency visit. That is the moment I realized the Absecon Veterinary Hospital is a scam. It is a shame that I realized it too late. Because we've spent years and thousands of dollars at this point just to get my dog spayed. And yet we are still left with the same problem we came into the facility with. If they truly cared about our pets, they wouldn't find every way possible to up charge us. These are predatory business practices! read more

I am not a client nor am I from around here; my husband and I were on vacation in Brigantine and (of course) my dog had a bout of conjunctivitis in both of his eyes. I called at around 10pm and the receptionist was so kind and told me to come on down. Upon entering my pup was triaged by a wonderful vet tech (I am so sorry that I forgot her name!) and took our info. The wait was nothing in comparison to what I'm used to in my town, especially for a same day emergency visit. In the time between being seen by a vet, the staff were so kind and made sure to give my dog love/compliments, and made sure I was comfortable. The reception area was also clean and one of the nicest I've seen in a while. The vet was also as equally as wonderful (thank you Dr. Constantini). She examined him and sent us home with the meds he needed. If I lived in this area, this practice would be my primary 100%. The level of care and attentiveness was truly comforting. 4-8-2020 First of all, thank you for staying open and doing the most you can during this epidemic. i don't want to sound ungrateful. appointment was at 2:30pm. it's 4:30pm and i'm still waiting to get my pets back. i don't see much people in line, i don't kno how much animals they are taking care of rite now. 2 hours waiting in my car. (my mother had to reschedule her doctors appointment due to the vet) hope this helps. oh and i brought my cat in for sneezing, doctor said she doesn't wanna treat him for that since it might be an allergy and his air ways look good. but she sure did give us a laundry list of things that COULD be the reason for this and that. $55 for the dog and $45 for the cat to be looked at. that's not including any treatment they receive during the 2 hours of waiting. read more

I visited this establishment on Sat, August 19th. My cat was sick and I did agree to pay the extra $125 emergency amount just to even step inside the door. Within 10 mins, I was seen by a Vet tech who took the cat's H&P. Told her that my cat was not eating or using the litter box for, at least, the last 3 days. She had also rarely moved off the couch during this time. She was limp- like a rag doll. They took the cat and I then sat in the waiting area for over 21/2 hours. When I was called to the back- nothing had been done. They then said that they needed to sedate the cat- due to aggression. Labs and a urinalysis were done. We were given a diagnosis of a UTI- urinary tract infection. Sent home with an antibiotic and a drug for nausea and vomiting- cat had not thrown up. It was stressed that I give the antibiotic with food as it was hard on the stomach. Did I mention that the cat had not eaten in 3 days! Driving home- I stopped and called the clinic to ask if they had given the first dose of the antibiotic.....they had not. Got home and tried a few items to get the cat to eat before I gave the antibiotic....no go! I gave it anyway (on an empty stomach) for the next three doses. Cat continued to deteriorate over the next two days. I called the clinic and returned on August 22....a whole other story. I was charged $801 for this first visit that consisted of lab and urine work. Long story short, the second visit consisted of more lab work and an ultrasound of the bladder. That visit costs me another $585.70. That Vet stated she was not sure what was wrong with my cat and if the symptoms continued..."to take her to a specialty hospital". Thought that was were I was??? I waited a week and ended up driving up from the shore to my own Vet (in Wayne, PA). We were seen in the office and, literally, within 10 mins, he did a chest X-ray witch showed 4-5 large lung tumors along with an enlarged heart. Only treatmenot he could offer me was......euthanasia. I put her down the next day. I called the Absecon clinic to complain about the misdiagnosis and the $801 and $585.70 bills and was told they could do nothing about that!!! BEWARE of this clinic. Overcharged with incorrect diagnosis and poor treatment!!!! My cat suffered needlessly. read more

What that does that mean? These people act like we got all day to just wait in our car. I took a day off from work for this appointment. Ive been taking my three dogs here for many years, it used to have a home town care feel to it, you could get the same doctor, you could get appointments quickly and the staff was friendly...Now its the opposite, its a revolving door of doctors, the staff is not so friendly, I waited two weeks for a very important appointment for my dog to be seen by a doctor only to be called a couple of days prior for them to say the doctor had to cancel and they couldn't reschedule my dog for over another week later. Once you are there for an appointment the wait is ridiculous, even with an appointment you might wait two hours. I think its time to find a new vet. read more

We had a feline emergency last night (2/13/21) that began around 8pm when our 17+ year cat Boo started mouth breathing and looking like she was in severe distress. Our regular vet was already closed and seeing her in such distress we knew she needed help. Absecon Veterinary was our closest option and we shot down the GSP from our home. We were PROMPTLY (seconds) met at the front door, Boo (our cat) was whisked away to the back. FULL COVID procedures in place and we went back to sit in our vehicle and wait. Technician called and explained cat was already under Dr care and the Dr would call us shortly. That call came within 7-10 minutes and the Dr (Dr Annita Constantini) described her/our prognosis and how extremely critical Boo was. Unfortunately her prognosis was not one that could/would give her anything of quality of life and we made our sad decision. We were brought in to a private exam room and everything was explained as we sat and enjoyed our lady for a few minutes longer, now her breathing EXTREMELY labored we summoned the team via a beeper system and with extreme professionalism Dr Constantini and her assistant did their thing. LOVE what we quickly saw of the facility and may make this our full time vet possibly. read more

If i could give zero stars i would. I took my dog in 5 weeks ago because he was limping. Sent home with sedation meds. Called a couple times to follow up since he wasn't improving. Was told can sedate dog even more and get an MRI. Took dog to another vet and was he diagnosed with lymes immediately. Misdiagnosed for over 4 weeks. I am so sad for my puppy and cannot believe he had to go through this. Was told numerous times that they treated him for what i brought him in for. And come to find out they eventually told me my dog had a fever when i brought him in to begin with. I am not a vet i didn't know what i brought him in for just knew he couldn't walk. I loved our visit! I recently adopted a very sick leopard gecko - I didn't know his situation until I picked him up that day and he looked nothing like the picture - complete skin & bones. I tried things on my own but after 3 weeks of him refusing to eat I knew it was time to take him to the vet. Dr Korecky & her techs were AMAZING I believe Gabby is one of the names I never caught the other woman's name. They were so compassionate and saw how sick our guy was and treated him like the little person we also think he is and were so so sweet to him. She suggested the necessary procedures to treat his case which we already had an idea of and gave us two weeks of medicine to take him! After one dose of his meds he is already a little more expressive than prior. I can not thank you ladies enough for making us & him feel like a million bucks! UNACCEPTABLE PRACTICE !!!!This story is so long to write. Horrible 1st visit, (from someone who was not even a vet tech,& insisted my cat carrier was not up to her standards & put her in an enclosed box) of which made her flip out. I was getting ready to walk out when they came out & got me. That situation was handled (even though she attempted to do it again the 2nd visit). The vet tech (whom I adore and she knows who she is ) came out & told her NO, Dr. Vittorelli said her carrier is fine , no box !!! Alot of visits from that time, surgery, tests and again 2 of the best vet techs (again, they know who they are). As we all know , putting our pets down is just one of the worst days ever. The day I went in , on January 25th, it was not planned to put her down. Unfortunately, she was doing a clinical trial, and other "signs" seemed that is wasn't really going to help , hence, the decision was made to put her down. This was in no way their decision, I want to a make that clear. The Vet I had that day , (and I'm sorry but her name escapes me ) was extremely nice & handled it with compassion. HOWEVER..and this had nothing to do with that Dr. I had paid for her to be individually cremated and returned to me . March 9th, I called to ask , when I would be getting her back , I was told "oh yes, she's here , " WHAT ??????? No one ever called !!!!!! My daughter (who is a certified professional in this business, unfortunately she works in another state or I would've gone there, called and wanted to speak to someone , who was either a co-owner or someone in a superior postition.
