He got me through some REALLY tough times over the past ten years, and honestly I'm not sure how I would have gotten through the pandemic without him. So knowing his time with me was coming to a close, I left it in his hands to tell me when it was time to go. And, unfortunately, that was the day he woke up and his eyes said simply, "Enough." The staff was attentive and kind from the jump. An examination revealed the options, but it was obvious that whatever was happening was quite serious - and I was given a breakdown of potential next steps. Of course with Sid's age, putting him down was also an option, and I already knew this is what we were going with. I did not receive any pressure to run any preliminary tests, procedures, or additional costs. I was simply told what the options were, and provided with an honest opinion of what the outcomes could be. And all options sucked. BUT it was obvious that the people helping me genuinely cared, and it made the heartbreak just a tiny bit easier. I had never had to do this before and I came in with Sid alone, so the vet guided me through what we were doing, what was next, and gave me ample time in between to say goodbye. Again, no real way to make these things less painful, but there was something in the attention and care I was receiving that made me feel like I wasn't going through it alone. The staff was going through it with me. I also received a beautiful card in the mail from them afterwards, hand-signed with a personal message from each - and this small gesture brought such warmth to my heart that I felt I had to share it. Highly recommend this place.

I spent 3+ hours there but it didn't feel like it. I was able to be by his side the entire time, there was hydration and snacks, and I was comfortable. I feel like every nurse checked in with us at least once. Even my cat felt chill enough after a while to curl up and nap in his large cage (they were quite busy and all rooms were taken). As off Feb '25 it was $200 for just the most basic care, for what it's worth, and in our situation it was very much worth it. They sent everything to my usual vet, including recommended follow up testing. Flippin' awesome and so helpful for moving forward after a terrible Sunday!

We were taken directly into the treatment area, where I was able to stay right beside my fur baby. They checked her vital signs, made sure I knew where the restroom was, and even showed me the complimentary snacks and beverages. We didn't have to wait long before Dr. Russell came over, listened carefully as I explained why we were there, and thoroughly evaluated Stella. He quickly identified what was causing her pain and explained everything clearly. Stella received pain medication by injection, and we were sent home with additional medication to keep her comfortable. When it was time for Stella's injection, my sweet girl became a little grouchy. The team handled her with such patience and compassion, moving us into a private room so they could safely care for her away from the open treatment area. That thoughtful accommodation meant so much to me. We arrived at approximately 5:30 a.m. and were home within one to two hours. The cost was absolutely worth it to know my baby had been properly evaluated, treated, and relieved of her pain. I would definitely return, although I sincerely hope we never need another emergency visit! Thank you, Dr. Russell, Nurse Shannon, and everyone at VEG Northern Liberties ER. By the comments left here, people either loved or hated with no in between. Personally I would…read morerecommend this particular vet for a number of reasons. The first is they will prioritize the visit schedule and will not make you wait if you pet is on death's door. Some of the other reasons include a thorough and complete exam with options for treatment and concerns discussed along the way. We had an incident with our 10 year old cat and his chronic asthma who was turning blue and couldn't breathe. We called several local vets including one that was new to our area with no luck scheduling an appointment despite the graveness of the situation. Excuses ranged from "you haven't been here in 2 years to no appointments until late next week." Choices beyond Little Egg Harbor are few and far between. As a last resort, we searched google for Animal ER/hospitals and discovered Jersey Shore Veterinary and made the call. After listening to us the response was "bring him right over now". The cat does not travel well so going to Barnegat was a challenge but thankfully a little O2, steroid shot and some loving kindness from the doctor literally saved his life. I see some had bad experiences, passed judgement on staff's outward signs of immaturity, doctor's dismissing input from owners but that was as far from our experience as possible. Going forward, we used the vet several more times and never waited for an appointment more than 24 hours for routine care or an hour or less for urgent/emergency care. The best part they are interested in your animals health and not "upselling" unnecessary procedures and studies. As with most pet owners, the health of one's companion is priority #1 and this office shares that feeling with every pet that comes through their door.

Cosmo was hospitalized overnight here twice for having grand mal as well as focal seizures back in…read moreJanuary 2026. After tests and scans we found that he a very large glioma brain tumor, one of the biggest they've seen in a small dog (he's a morkie). Cosmo already has diabetes and heart disease which complicated things a bit. We met with both internal medicine, neurology, and oncology to figure out the best plan for Cosmo as his brain tumor is inoperable. He went on a bunch of new medication that would hopefully lessen the frequency of the tumors until we underwent treatment. After meeting with Dr. Spanos from Oncology-Radiation she went over many different treatment plans listing out the pros and cons of each in addition to letting me know any and every side effect Cosmo might encounter. These treatments were also sent to me via email which I appreciated so I could really take the time to sit down and think about it. After a lot of deliberation we decided to start CFRT radiation treatment on a 10 day plan. It means Cosmo would need to undergo radiation treatment for 10 consecutive days (apart from weekends) and would need to go under anesthesia every time. I won't lie, it was tough. Cosmo was very lethargic due to the treatment but Dr. Spanos team did a great job and were very patient with him even though he's a very nervous boy at the vet. Once he completed his 10 days of CFRT treatment we received a certificate, we rang a bell, and the whole team who took care of him came out to celebrate. I'm happy to say we've been slowly tapering off his medicine and have completely stopped taking the prednisone/steroid for swelling. Additionally, Cosmo is now 70 days seizure free and has been back to acting like his normal self prior to us learning about his diagnosis. He still plays, gets the zoomies, and loves his long walks. He just is on a tight schedule for his anti-seizure medication. I can't thank the team at GSVS enough for giving me more precious time with Cosmo. Everyone I've interacted with in the hospital has been kind, understanding, and willing to go the extra mile for my pup. We are so grateful! We go back for a follow-up MRI to examine the status of Cosmo's tumor towards the end of summer.

My cat, Jasper, was very ill and hospitalized there for 4 days. The emergency room veterinarians and technicians were amazing. One ER doctor called me multiple times over the course of 2 days just to keep me updated on my baby. How amazing! Then Jasper was transferred from emergency medicine to the internal medicine team. This is when we met Dr. DiBenedetto- our hero. I cannot say enough amazing things about this man. He showed true compassion towards me and Jasper, he worked extremely hard to determine what was causing Jaspers illness, spent a great deal of time providing me with all the details of his illness, treated him appropriately, and SAVED HIM! Nine days after discharge, Jasper started to feel unwell again. Luckily we already had a follow up visit scheduled, so off we went to Redbank again. Dr. DiBenedetto promptly determined the diagnosis, explained to me in detail what we could do to help him, and provided me with honest and empathetic options. We decided to treat Jasper at home, as funds were tight after a 4 day hospital stay. Now two weeks after that last visit, Jasper is THRIVING!! He saved him for 2nd time!! Jasper turned 9 on June 6th and I owe it all to Redbank's amazing staff- especially Dr. DiBenedetto, his tech Liz, and the rest of the internal medicine team. The empathy, compassion, thoroughness, respectfulness, and intelligence that Dr. DiBenedetto possesses is truly exceptional. Thank you!!!! PS- I also love that they have a coffee station, water, tea, and a vending machine. The establishment is always very clean and the front desk staff are polite.
