Extremely unhappy with Mikhail Roytman. He arrived significantly earlier than agreed upon - refused to wear any sort of mask (he said he had breathing problems) and would not wear booties to cover his shoes. I can understand someone having breathing issues and not being able to mask - that can be something that happens to people - I'm not sure why it was a hassle for him to slip elasticized shoe covers on. He went to the kitchen, took parts off to look at the wiring situation - said it would be $345 - and then put the parts back into the oven when we didn't have enough. He then wanted to be paid for a service call - he said it would be $115. Over the phone, before this appointment, he hadn't been forthcoming about how much an oven repair would cost, not even a ballpark range, or a service call fee ($345 and $115 respectively). When told that on the spot, we only had access to less than a hundred at the moment, he said he'd take that plus $20. He charged what we had at the moment. As soon as he was paid via venmo, he then said he'd be back to work on the actual oven when we were ready. He started putting his tools away and the parts back into the oven - when we offered to put the racks back in, he said that he was afraid we would mess it up. He put everything back, and then left. We called him, still unsure what the plan was. He listened until he assumed we were trying to get free labor out of him - we attempted to explain that it was weird to pay someone for nothing, especially since he hadn't disclosed before the fact that we would even need to pay anything during/after that visit. He asked what we expected, did we expect him to repair the oven for free? We did not. He then rushed us off the phone, saying to cancel the payment - he wouldn't do it for us. We had to call venmo to cancel the money transfer, which is not instant. This was the first time we attempted to use this service, it's very unfortunate Mikhail Roytman was so uncooperative. Lesson learned - don't assume contractors will be forthcoming about fees. read more

My refrigerator went out and Mikhail was very responsive . He had the parts needed and I feel charged a fair price. He is very knowledgeable of repair of appliances. He is professional and tidy. Everything worked seamlessly. It's a hurdle to get someone to even show up these days. If you call one of the big appliance repair you will pay big bucks and that person doesn't even care if they arrive as promised. Ok, I've been using Mikhail for years and I think I can give a balanced review. First, getting quality help right now is tough, and none of the options are really first class. Mikhail is a good guy, who is quite knowledgable, and can most likely fix your problem. We had a fan motor go out in our GE 15-year old fridge last week, and he did come and fix it today. It cost us $300. 250 for labor and $50 for the fan. Notes-- 1) He put the wrong motor in the first time. The fridge wasn't getting cooler and I called him back. He came out again and said the one he used was wired to spin the other way. Many fridges use almost exactly identical parts, with small differences, etc. No big deal I guess, he didn't charge me extra. 2) He originally quoted the fan at $200. I pointed out that it was $23 on Amazon. We ended at $50 which seems fair for him carrying the inventory-- since he actually had it on the truck. Do clarify ahead of time what his markup is on parts. Spent an hour working on our dishwasher, didn't fix it. While he was working on our dishwasher, he turned around and I realized he had removed his mask in my home with no windows open for ventilation, and me sitting working about 15 feet away. When I asked him to put it back on, he said "ok, just for you" in a condescending tone. This was mid December 2020, during the serge, and masks were a state mandate. He fixes the dishwasher, and then when I ask where the dirty water had splashed so I could sanitize, he wouldn't answer me. He just kept saying "you need to clean the whole kitchen, you'll do it anyway" 4 days later, the dishwasher was broken again. I explained I was injured and Mikhail told me not to worry he'd come out the next morning. Second, he not only balanced my machine but decided to make a few improvements. The absolutee best - I cannot recommend enough. Mikhail answered our call on a Saturday morning and arrived an hour later to fix our fridge - which is huge on a weekend. I called several repair companies regarding my LG clothes washer, every company I called said they would not work on an LG because they are too complicated. I found a company that said they would work on my washer and when the repair person arrived at my home, he told me that the problem was with the stater and rotor and that it should be covered under warranty. I called LG and they said that there is only one company in the bay area that would work on LG under warranty. I called the comapny and they told me that they no longer work on LG becasue it's too hard to get parts. I then called Absolute Appliance Repair and Mikhail answered the phone, he said he could be at my house the next day at 9am. He called me at 8:30 the next day and said he would be at my house at 9am. He arrived early at 8:55 am and took a look at my LG washer. It took him about 30 seconds to analyze the problem and he fixed it in about a half hour with ease. Mikhail said it was the Drain pump and not the stater and rotor after all. Mikhail was very polite and very knowledgeable regarding my LG washer. Warning - these are dishonest people. They charge 60 bucks to walk in your front door. I had an oven hinge that was broken. He told me it would cost: 1. 150 for hinge #1 2. 150 for hinge #2 (because you have to buy both) - so that was $300 plus labor. Then he quoted me over 400 to fix a preheat problem. I said no thanks, he charged me 60 bucks and was at my house for five minutes. I then called Golden Gate appliance, where lovely Carlos told me it would cost $24 for the hinges and that he could get them and install them for about $125 bucks. I asked about my oven preheat issue and he said he doubted it would be more than 200, parts and all. Absolute appliance repair is an absolute nightmare. read more

Their website is wrong (absoluteappliancesrepair.com) in that they do not service microwaves. This is despite numerous mentions on their website including a appliance repair tips "blog" entry (April 16th) on why a microwave might not work. At the end of that entry, it says, "Call Absolute Appliance Repair NOW if you have any problems with your microwave!" Mikhail did email me to tell me they do not service microwaves, though it was an email without a body text and just the Subject line, "We don't do microwave Absolute appl". My only thought is that Mikhail must be crazy busy to not bother with a proper email, which might be a good thing since this means his services are sought after. read more

About two months ago, our Frigidaire upright freezer conked out. It was still running, but the top half was totally iced up and the bottom half was only partially iced. We think we left the door partially opened overnight. We called a couple of technicians based on their purported high Yelp reviews. Absolute came later that afternoon and he quoted $50 for a house call. I explained to him what the problem with the freezer. Before he came, I had to leave and my wife met him. He spent just a few minutes at simply opened the freezer door and said the compressor is no good and that it would cost $1000 to repair. He never looked at the compressor or pulled the freezer from the wall to exam further. To boot, he then charged us $60 for this house call. It doesn't appear that he wanted to work on the freezer and just quoted an artificially high price, knowing that a new one is about half the price. It seemed like a scam to collect on the service charge and not do any work. Not bad - $60 for no more than 15 minutes of standing around! This example just makes me believe less and less on using Yelp reviews for references. read more

Amazing service! My washing machine broke down right before I needed to go on a trip and still had a few loads to do. I called Mikhail at 11:45 am and he was here by 12:30. He turned the washing machine on, put it into diagnostic mode, and figured out the problem immediately -- drain pump needed to be replaced -- and he had the part in his van! When I heard replacement part I immediately assumed it was going to be a couple of weeks before the thing would be back in service. He seemed to know the washer like the back of his had and effortlessly took it apart. It was back together an hour later with everything working again. Less than two hours from call to fixed! Mikhail is a great guy, and really knows his stuff! He has fixed my washer and dryer, and my dishwasher! One of the things that really stands out is that typically from the moment i hang up the phone with him to when he knocks on my door is usually less than 30 minutes, even on the weekend! If I owned this business, I would get rid of him -- you are losing loyal customers that have used you several times in the past. I just had a great experience with Mikhail who came and fixed my fridge the same day. Our fridge had been acting up recently, and it's only two years old. When I woke up this AM, it was warm and had stopped running. I called Absolute and Mikhail came down within just a few hours and fixed our broken fan motor. He told us the reason was because the doors were not closed properly. Gee - thanks, Samsung! Why have a sensor that beeps if it won't actually alert me to the door not being all the way closed. Our old GE Potscrubber dishwasher started making a loud grinding noise, so I called Absolute Appliance Repair and they said it would cost $65 to come out and take a look, but they'd apply that toward the cost of the repair. Less than an hour later Mikhail showed up, took a listen and told me that the pump needs to be replaced but it would cost more than the 20 year old dishwasher was worth so he recommended we just ask the landlord to get us a new dishwasher instead of paying to fix this one. He felt badly that it was such a quick visit and told me he wasn't going to charge me, but we live all the way out in Outer Richmond so I gave him $40 as a thank you anyway for the great service! These guys are total liars and bullying thieves. First of all, its hard to understand their extremely thick Russian accent, but I'm willing to ignore that if they weren't so pushy. This happened today ! My dishwasher drainage was leaking because I took of the top cover off to clean the mould and didn't realize what that piece really did. Long story short - Fred came in and immediately spoke in a loud demeaning way that I would need to spend $100 to fix the issue without explaining what the issue was. I was fighting the flu and juggling work, so I told him to go ahead. He basically replaced a perfectly fine working pipe for no reason and then claimed he had to do some cleaning ( all in 10 min ) and made a bill out for $180. His behavior was wrong on so many fronts.
