TL;DR: Be warned. The owner's bad advice cost me money, and when confronted, he took zero responsibility. I was a customer of the previous company before it was sold to Justin. Based on his recommendation during the estimate, I paid about $200 to have an electrical outlet relocated before the radon system was installed. The outlet ended up not being needed at all because the fan was installed in a completely different location. Even the technician suggested the original assessment was incorrect. When I brought this up, I wasn't asking to be reimbursed for the full amount. I simply requested a small $50 credit as a goodwill gesture. Justin refused. No apology, no accountability, and no effort to make things right after his recommendation caused me to spend money unnecessarily. Anyone can make a mistake. What separates good companies from bad ones is how they handle it. My experience was that once the contract was signed, customer satisfaction was no longer a priority. I had a system installed a few years ago. Then when my basement was tested I was over the acceptable level of radon. I called them to see what we could do about this. They quoted me more than the cost of the original system to 'fix' the problem. And just coming to take a look at it is $250 even though they screwed it up in the first place. So happy I went with an expert team rather than other vendors. Other vendors quoted my system but they didn't even feel the need to come out or test prior. They just wanted to rely on the realtor test (and we all know how well that works). I was preparing to get some work done on my basement - crawl space encapsulation, insulation. A neighbor noticed the contractors showing up to do quotes, and he suggested I check radon levels since they'd recently had mitigation done. Mine were high, so I started trying to figure out what was involved in getting it addressed. I ended up being rushed to get it done because of the timing of the basement encapsulation schedule. I called 5280, and they were very helpful but didn't have a time available until after my basement encap appointment, so they recommended I call Absolute Radon Safety. Justin came out the next day to give me a quote, and they had a time open up before my other basement work. I appreciated how well Justin explained the process, including the details about how the different components of the system work, pressure levels, why they do what they do, etc. He took the extra time to answer all of my questions. No one wants to have to mitigate radon in their home, but if your numbers are high you are putting your family at risk. Most homes in Colorado have an unsafe level of radon. Absolute Radon Safety did a great job from estimate to installation, under $1000. for our home. Justin did install and was able to place pipe through concrete floor in an unfinished corner of the basement and out the side of the house with no dust, no mess. The sellers initially hired a company that did not provide a warranty for their work. They did a horrible job! (That was the root of the issue! My review is a little overdue- we had them out in March to install our system- but they were fantastic! So easy to work with. My husband was concerned with the placement and routing of the system and whether the crawl space would need closing off so they scheduled an advance consultation to put him at ease. I called them and they said I had a 10 year warranty. They came to my house within 3 days and installed a new fan for free, with another 10 year warranty. My mother said JD was very nice and easy to talk to and didn't mind explaining step by step on what he's doing! Newly updates on 6/04/2018: I used them for my rental properties last week. My old system was old and creating a lot of noise and vibration in the basement. They came in replaced the fan and secure all the attachments to the wall and now I can hardly hear anything in the basement. It took only 20 mins and everything is so clean and nice. Nick came to my house to give bid. I then hired them to do the job. Installer comes out a couple weeks later and tells me the system that I was quoted cannot be installed. Tells me Nick is just a marketing person and doesnt know what he is talking about. I ask to speak with manager, am handed a business card and installer just drives away. I took the day off work and was left standing with no options. No resolution was ever provided. Im sure they will put their own twist to the story but the bottom line is that ACE Radon came out, gave me a bid ( cheaper than Absolute Radon ) and did the install as promised with NO issues. My installation went smoothly and the technician was professional and on time. Afterwards I realized that he had accidentally knocked a wire loose in the outlet that was powering the fan. I contacted Katherine and she scheduled the owner to come out and fix it. My house has old outdated wiring and this became much more than just a loose wire. Nick ended up working on this outlet for over 5 hours to make sure it was fixed!! He went above and beyond and rewired the entire outlet for me and didn't give up until he was sure it was fixed. I'm super happy with their customer service and the only reason something went wrong was because of my houses poor wiring.
