All that we wanted was to both get to the house at around 5:30pm to inspect the work but apparently that wasn't good enough for Max. We were not trying to renegotiate the contract. We were trying to enforce the contract to make sure everything was done that we agreed to verbally and written before paying. We both had to abandon our jobs and risk getting fired in order to pay max at around 2:30pm instead of 5:30pm. When we got to the house around 1:15pm, the work wasn't even completed. So why did he threaten to do that? We had to wait another two hours for him to finish before inspecting the work. All the while we are not working at our own jobs. Overall the company did an awful job on my opinion especially when you include the service aspect. Communication was awful too, and I believe there is grout haze all over my marble tile that I may have to hire someone to get off. We were told that the work was going to be finished in two and a half days but it took six days to just put in a new kitchen backsplash! Max didn't even show up to supervise the work during the entire time. It seems that he's not committed to performing everything that he promises to do based on verbal and written estimates. He'll make promises to get the job, but when you ask if he's done everything that he promised before paying him, he'll accuse you of "renegotiating the contract" even though you're just trying to verify that everything was done appropriately. We agreed verbally that I would pay $2100 if he would add knobs to the living room built-ins and adjust the kitchen cabinet. The written quote was for $2000. Initially he verbally quoted $1800. I never said or implied that I wasn't going to pay him. My advice is to the owner is to not threaten to damage the home of clients before the work is even complete. Ultimately to keep him from acting on his threat, I just paid him the money to get him out of my house. Any mistakes I'll hire someone else to fix. He has ZERO people skills and insists on 'saving a buck' by using craftsman to work on ancillary projects (in my case, baseboards) that are outside their area of expertise. I did not however appreciate one of the company men coming by several day later and snooping around my home without announcing himself. He was looking for a lost vacuum. I told him he was welcome to look, which he did, but I didn't have his vacuum. Then for the install crew. Ugh. Keep in mind this all happened between just two guys. To word this as nicely as possible, there is no boundary recognition. At all! It started when I offered them water. They didn't like water. I offered them Gatorade which the first day, they drank 3 to 4 bottles each. They then proceeded to ask me for Gatorade every day after and going so far as to say they "needed it". (I had the distinct feeling they wanted a different type of Gatorade because they asked me numerous times if I liked Gatorade Zero which is what I had.) Not once did I see them bring their own drinks except when they got fast food for lunch. Another day, I saw the one guy was here so I unlocked the door. I hadn't gone 3 feet before I heard the lock click into place. My door has a keypad. The installer had pushed the lock button. It is no where near the handle! They moved my camera modem which I still can't figure out why. It's hidden. They went into my bathroom cabinets (all of them from what I can tell - I know this because the installer told me I could throw away something in one cabinet and an item was used up (then the empty container placed back) in the other.) One asked me what I paid for my new shower. They washed their dirty, caulked hands in my kitchen sink (repeatedly). One asked me if he could buy my grill. Another offered to help me move my bed at any point in the future. And lastly, they sent me for felt pads three different times when, come to find out, they have permission to buy them on the company card! There was one area that was not done well and I asked them to fix it which they did. Every day after, they told me how unlevel my floor was. Well, I didn't build my house so thanks? (I have since found a second area done poorly that I cannot live with...there are a few other areas I'm just gonna deal with.) The most disturbing of all was finding my side garage door unlocked after everything was done. I don't know who unlocked it. But it was unlocked and I never use that door nor should anyone who was here because they wouldn't need to! Basically, I wanted the installers out of my house! The one made me extremely uncomfortable. I did NOT appreciate them snooping in my home/using my things or treating me like their concierge. I have never had an experience like this in my life.

Called to request a foundation inspection, as the home is 30 years old, we have some very minor…read moretile cracks, and do see some seasonal movement in door openings (mostly one upstairs one). Some brickwork is cracked around suspended arches and cornerstone decorative pieces (e.g. above garage doors) but obviously has been for decades. I specifically called Cornerstone because I wanted a serious contractor who does actual poured footings, not that stacked cylinder mess that could actually crack your foundation worse as they use your house for the jack leverage. Dave was on time, courteous and (given that our appointment was in the middle of the Viral Apocalypse) understanding that I was working from home instead of 'off' for the day of our appointment. We spoke for a bit, he outlined everything well and asked pertinent questions about my reasons for calling, then got down to work inspecting...and recommended no work be done at this time. I offered to pay a service charge but he said that wasn't necessary. We did follow up on the phone briefly (I was busy when he was finished) and I am strongly considering coming back to them for some drainage improvements here and there as precautionary measures.
