I had been going to the same optometrist since my first pair of glasses in 2008. I had brought up concerns over the years that were brushed off as being too minor to do anything about them. When I brought these up to Dr. Abundo, he took them seriously and addressed all the ways these issues were affecting my vision and addressed how to correct them. My experience with abundo eye care was not a good one. There was a part time high school girl in the office who marked my glasses with a Sharpie, where my comfort zone would be with my bifocals. When I got them back they didn't fit my face so I asked the woman behind the counter to adjust them for me. She laid them upside down on a table and said they're fine. I told her my face wasn't a table. I went back two more times for an adjustment But they never fit right and I couldn't see out of them correctly. If I could give them a minus review rating I would. I spent too much money on lenses that don't work. This was the worst experience I've ever had at a business, let alone an optometrist office. read more

Dr. Abundo is the best optometrist I've been too. He is super friendly, and always teaches me something new about my eyes, or just eyes in general. He genuinely seems to want to make sure you understand everything. He always makes me feel comfortable, and I can tell he takes as much time as needed with his patients. My husband and I have both had appointments where we waited a bit past our appointment time, but this doesn't bother me because I know he'll spend as much time with me as I feel like I need. I don't really know that much about pricing for actual exams as they are covered by my insurance, but I think he is pretty comparable to anywhere else. I have always bought my contacts from him, and he makes sure I have rebate forms so I get the best deal possible. They sell glasses there too, but I don't wear them so have never bought any. They seem to have a good selection of budget to designer frames. His employees have always been pleasant and helpful to me. The location is kind of weird. It's off of Fort Union Blvd, but it's a small shop, and the back actually faces the road. I drove past it twice the first time I went so just keep your eyes open when you get near. I have been going to Abundo Eye Care for over 10 years now. It is refreshing to have a Doctor after all that time that is still excited by the patients eye care needs, and that he and his staff take the time necessary to make sure those needs are met accurately every time. Some of the cool things that he has, a nifty machine that can scan your retina without having to dilate my eyes, it's cost a little more since my insurance doesn't over that test, but so work it. And eye pressure, no problem. No puffs in the eye or the light up against the eye, he has this little clicker thing that you feel move your eyelashes, it's quick and non invasive. If you want an eye doctor that truly cares, is always jovial, and with a staff that is super friendly, then this is the eye care specialist for you. read more

I came to see Dr. Abundo because his office accepts care credit. I was going to do lasik but decided against the giant bill. I opted to spend the cash for "Eye Jewelry" instead. Not only did Dr. Abundo explain every procedure he performed on my eyes but he was thorough. I had planned to spend $1500.00 on eye glasses. I found the exact sun-glass frames that I fell in love with many years ago at 50% off PLUS the most darling pair of Kate Spade Cat Eye frames in the color that I wanted at 50% off also! Coupled with non-reflective coating, progressive lenses, tint, I saved $900 of that $1500.00!! Barbara is a rock star getting the prices she found for me. I will definitely be a forever customer at Abundo Eye Care. And praise God, not only can I see the mountains and the leaves on the trees, but I CAN SEE!!! I'm pretty picky about my eye doctors, dentists, doctors, and other professionals I trust my well-being to. Dr. Abundo and his staff are fantastic. I've been coming here for several years, and have no plan to stop. The staff is friendly, the selection is broad, they're willing to help out, and I always feel welcome here. I highly recommend to anyone needing an eye doctor. Dr. Abundo will take the time to explain what he is doing in every step of the process and will update you on changes from the last time you were there to the present. I had a great experience here despite having walked in with a living social voucher. Normally when I visit an establishment with a voucher, I hold my breath and expect the worst because I find that businesses on living social are just trying to make a quick buck. This place was DEFINITELY NOT. The office itself is spotless, ample parking outside, easy to find off the street, with a HUGE selection of frames. I'm picky when it comes to frame selection because I'm a spoiled California girl where we have the best of everything (or so I choose to believe). This place definitely did not disappoint, it has everything I wanted and more in terms of availability of trendy and cute designs. The staff... AMAZING. So sweet and personable and they greeted me the minute I walked in. No wait time, no trying to get the attention of the front desk girl hoping she won't hate you for bothering her... Just sweet, friendly ladies eager to help. The doctor is super intelligent, friendly, thorough, and explains everything to you in detail. I love that- I love going to the doctor and being treated as an educated human and learning something new. This was all that and more. Basically, I would recommend this place to my mother... What a great place to go... Everyone was friendly. Dr. Abundo was quick and efficient. He also helped me understand my eyes more than any other Optometrist. He offered a procedure that does the same thing as dilation, but doesn't give you the problems like the drops do. I chose to do the old fashion way; I am thinking I should have paid the extra charge. I do not like my eyes dilated. The only thing I can recommend is to have a person assisting me in picking a frame. The frames are displayed all over the store; so it's a little overwhelming. It would've been nice to get another set of eyes (no pun intended) on what were the popular frames vs ones that go well with my melon size head. All and all I was in and out under an hour read more

Dr. Abundo is fabulous. Came in on his day off to help resolve my eyeglass issues. Not all of the office workers are helpful though, so ask for a different person if you get someone impatient or not knowledgeable enough to help. If you're really in a pinch, work with the man himself. read more

I have been going to Dr Abundo for somewhere around ten years now and I love his office, and the selection. I absolutely love Barbara! However my last visit yesterday put a nasty taste in my mouth, Leah, whom which has always had an attitude problem treated me like absolute crap! i asked for a breakdown of my total because it was over 1000$ and she rolled her eyes and acted as if i was asking her to do something outside her job description even though i had asked before she had put all of these things on my bill. I will still go back but i will not deal with Leah again, this is the third time she has acted like this with me. read more

Dr. Abundo is very thorough; he takes the time to answer your questions (even those you didn't know you had). He evaluates your overall health and looks for future risks and preventive measures to ensure your continued eye health.
