If I could give them a -5 I would. We went to this location to get my husband and daughter glasses. The second we walked in there was no clear direction or flow of where to go first. Completely unorganized. They take our insurance, but refused to bill it. The whole building smelt like cigarette smoke. The floors were awfully dirty. My toddler picked up from The floor what appeared to be an adult molar tooth. Like it was just unbelievable what this place was. Staff were very rude and unprofessional. Will never be back read more

I had an excellent experience at Americas Best in midvale. Dr Derby is one of the best eye doctors that I have ever seen. She was kind, caring, and highly experienced. She took the time to thoroughly examine my eyes, and then took the time to make sure that I would get the perfect prescription for my eyes. She was phenomenal. The staff at americas best in midvale were top notch. The manager Jon, was extremely helpful and took the time with me to find the perfect glasses. I highly recommend America's Best in midvale. I was worried to come here because of the reviews but I had amazing service. I was greeted with a friendly woman who took me right back to get an exam even though I was early for my appointment. The doctor was so kind and sweet to me and helped me get contacts right on the spot. I got two pairs of glasses, the exam, and the 3 year prescription for an amazing price. Since I did not have insurance, a nice man helped me get the lowest price possible. Everyone was so kind and helpful. The WORST America's Best I have ever been to. I have now given them two chances over the last two years. This last time I went to get my prescription updated, the Optometrist only spent about 5 minutes with me and I was given 2 option of "1 or 2", "1 or 2". I turned in two pairs of glasses I already had to update the lenses. A week and a half later I tried calling to see if my glasses were ready, I called 13 times and the phone was never answered. As this is the only way to see if your glasses are ready, I kept trying to call. I tried calling again the next day and I was told "we'll, they're not here". I just said thanks and again tried calling a couple days later. I was told at noon to call after 5. I called after 5 and the phone was picked up, the person was talking to someone else at the location. When they said "America's Best" I explained that I was calling to check on my glasses and they said "ok" and hung up. I called again and they picked up and asked if I was ok to be put on hold. They didn't wait for my response and immediately placed me on hold for 5 minutes. They did pick up the call after that and I explained why I called and received my response. However, this is THE ONLY method to check on the status so it's ridiculous how much I had to go through to get a response. There is absolutely zero professionalism. I will not be returning again. If I could give it a zero I would. The only person that seems like they remotely know what they are doing is the older front desk lady. We ordered frames and lenses. Went to pick them up and they were the complete wrong frames. We kept those while they ordered his actual frames which was nice. Came to pick up the new frames and the lenses were switched..my son could only see out of them if he turned them Backwards. Yet they told me they are the same. There were not the same! While waiting for the glasses I watched 2 other customers come in with issues. They called someone to come pick up their glasses but they are no where to be found. Another lady picked up glass she dropped off to be fixed with a case and when she got them there was no case and the frames were all bent. I would stay as far away as possible!!! read more

I was a customer a couple of years ago and was satisfied with their service. However, their service has gone down. The so-called reception was too busy to talk to me, so I had to walk around myself. A minute in. No one offered to help me. So I had to walk to a staff who was sitting there doing nothing for help. He refused to tell me a quote without prescription. I told him that I know my prescription and I bought contact with them a few years ago and nothing has changed much. I know that I need super thin and light lens. But he refused to give me an estimate, so I had to ask for his supervisor who was kind and gave me detailed estimates. Thanks to her. But overall, I was very unhappy with their service. The person who picks up the phone was also very impatient. Their price maybe a little better than other glasses stores. But Costco's price is much much less. read more

Two pairs of glasses and an exam for only $69.99 plus tax. Don't understand the negative reviews for this place. The front staff was very honest and helpful. There was no commission sales pressure to upgrade our purchases from what we decided to buy. In fact, the one year warranty at $30 for the two pairs was only a recommendation at checkout. The optometrist was also accurate and informative. Everyone seemed courteous there. Walked in at 9:15 am with no appointment but we were examined before 10:00 am. Two weeks is the expected time to receive your glasses after purchasing but they said it generally takes less time. read more

I have been going to this location for 3 years now. I've never had issues, it's very affordable, and quick. However, this year when I went everyone seemed scrambled the lady in the initial screening room had to have me leave and have the last person come back in because she didn't give the doctor his results. Once I came in we did the tests as normal. When I was waiting for the doctor she came back and asked me, "which eye was it the was worse?" Even when she walked away I was a little worried she wouldn't remember. I go through my exam with a young woman doctor. Get my contacts and leave as normal. I try them for 11 days and something was off. I found another office near my house that had an appointment, I go and they tell me a different prescription and give me some trials. They were perfect! I call Americas Best and tell them I just had an appointment a week ago but there's a problem with my prescription and they tell me to come back. All I wanted to do was get a refund on my contacts (1 year supply) I bought that was wrong. They had me go through the whole screening process again but this time asking a ton of questions and wanted to test me with my contacts in. I let them I know I put my old contacts in since the new ones I couldn't see in, that was my bad. The middle aged male doctor saw me this time and instead of believing me that something was wrong with the prescription he didn't even test my eyes and instead put letters up on the screen, telling me nothing changed on the new prescription that she just changed it .25 from last year so the difference wouldn't be much. I again explained something wasn't right, that I've been wearing contacts for 15 years and I know when something isn't right. Also with my second opinion from the other office I knew they were wrong. He told me he'd order me trials of the new prescription he settled on adjusting to get me out of his chair, never doing a new full exam. I continued to the front to get a refund on my contacts I bought and they couldn't pull up my purchase because the order number on my receipt wasn't pulling up anything on my file. The clerk looks at my receipt and sees another patients name on it. I point to the other clerk and say she was the one who processed the purchase the week prior and she stated that was the Manager. Low and behold I paid for someone else's bill. They refunded the money. If they would of retested my eyes and heard me when I said the prescription wasn't right I would of chalked up the other mistakes to a bad day and continued being a patient but when I have a doctor telling me, "I don't know what to tell you the prescription is the same but a little bit different" I don't feel like my best interest to continue going here. read more

The workers there were very helpful when I wanted to see similar frames in a different color. Aleczander helped me pick which lens will fit nicely into the frames and which color for transition lens! I keep getting excuses as to why they have not been received such as they were never ordered and even after they were ordered again it's been 2 months waiting. To me this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced and all they want to try to do is offer me 20% off. I have been unable to see for 5 months but 20% off is supposed to make it all OK . Ridiculous waiting times even with an appointment. The employees don't seem overly engaged or concerned with the customers. My wife and I went their to get two new sets of glasses for her. Finally after my wife followed up several times she had me call. I got a hold of some one and they said that a pair of glasses were ready to pick up. So I went in after work. Maybe 2 or 3 other customer there and I wait 5 minutes why two employees chat near the back waiting area. Finally get my wife's glasses and I come to find that they broke a wait while installing the lens so I need to come back later. I go back the third time now (first was just for the exam) to pick up the second pair they broke. The employees just seemed so disinterested. It was kind of strange. Doubtful we will be back and would make it a point to bring these guys up as a place to avoid. But I really hope someone there can change things around. read more

When street signs became green blobs a few years ago it was time to get my eyes checked. I went straight to America's Best because it's functional and cheap, and that's all I cared about. They always have the same deal going, two pair of glasses and an eye exam for one low price, currently $69.95. I've was actually impressed with the decent selection of frames. Every couple of years I've been back as my eyes get worse (it's staring at these stinkin' computer screens I tell ya-but I just can't stop!) A couple of months ago I accepted that my eyes are never getting BETTER and was sick of ALWAYS looking like a nerd. Sometimes it's definitely the look I'm going for, but other times.....anyway, I have strayed.... I called for a contacts appointment (although you can just walk in, and usually there's no wait on a weekday). The front lobby contains the frames and a couple of desks for fittings and records, etc. In the back there is a waiting area and two different offices you are marched through in the course of your exam. The Dr. and employees are professional and efficient, which means, they may be in a bit of a hurry to get you in and out of there, but were nice about about answering my questions. The contacts exam isn't free, but they have a 'club' that reduces the price of future lenses and makes yearly exams free. It comes out to be a great deal. The gal that taught me Contacts 101 was VERY patient as I repeatedly tried to jam a little, wet gooey thing into my eyeball, and warmly assured me that I wasn't the worst she'd seen. Terrible place, never going back. Went there for the exam, fell for the upgrade scams. That seriously upped the bill. Waited two weeks for the glasses, they called and said they broke the lenses and it would be two more weeks. Heard nothing for two weeks, called after the 3rd week, they said the glasses were in but not unpacked. They would double check and call me back. They called me back and said yes, confirmed, glasses and contacts in, come in any time. Came in the next day, they said the glasses were not in, come back Monday. I said I'm not willing to wait any more. I got a refund and went to Costco. read more

They Don't Sell Bifocals!!!!!!! I had an appointment to get glasses there and I needed some Bifocal Glasses and I was looking at the glasses before my name was called and there were 3 or 4 Female employees that were talking to each other, they would not help me, they would not answer my questions. So I guess it takes several employees to ignore a customer. So finally when they called my name for eye exam, I asked the male employee which glasses I could have with Bifocals and he said rudely, - "you can't have Bifocals but you can get the prescription here and go somewhere else!!!!!!!!" I can't believe that they would rather tell me to go somewhere else then help me pick out a pair of glasses. I lost my patience and walked out without an eye exam and I left with nothing. Based on these reviews I was expecting a horror experience, but I figured for the price I would endure it! I was very pleasantly surprised. We made appointments the night before online and showed up 10 minutes late. Even so they managed to get us checked in super quick and get us back to the doctor. We were in and out within 45 minutes. The workers were pleasant enough. Maybe some advice, we made our appointments for a weekday before 5 o'clock and I'm imagining that's their slow period and maybe the best time to come. Also, the selection is pretty vast for how much we paid (their 69.95 deal) and both the guy and I found 2 pairs we loved! Seriously, don't be scared off by the reviews. This awful experience happened last night. The eye doctors are great. As everyone else had said, the poor customer service is in the front of that place. The office manager knew we were waiting as we had chosen our glasses. There was two ladies helping others, but Norma who had our order was offering to help others that were after us, and that irritated me. I waited close by so they could see I needed help. After about 35 mins of waiting around, the office manager finally came to ask us if we were helped. She knew we were waiting all that time as she was not doing much. They were close to closing up. She found our order. When we finally sat down, Norma asked what we wanted? I just looked at her. I wanted to say "world peace" but told her we needed glasses as I had already given her the two glasses we had chosen. She then said our cost was over $300.00 which I knew was not right. I had gotten two glasses from there for under $250.00 and that included the 1 year warrant package. By the time she helped me she was trying to hike up my son's bill. This is the worst place. I've gotten my glasses here before and my son came last year to get his glasses here.. but last night did it for me. I'm done with this location. They're awesome. On Yelp it says you don't need an appointment, but as soon as we walked in they asked if we had one. Nevertheless, we were seen within 15 minutes. This place was just OK. The staff there isn't too nice but not mean either, just kinda indifferent. The eye doctor and nurse were very kind and seemed nice but a little tired like they had had a long day. Plus, I had to sit and wait my turn for a long time even though I had gotten there on time for my own time slot. That being said the price point was good and I am able to get contact lenses cheaper there than most places plus they carry the brand that I need. All in all if you need contacts do go it is a great price. If you need to see a doctor be prepared for a wait. read more

This place is awful. The staff is rude and very disorganized. They fail to tell you if you don't need glasses its the same price as it would be to get glasses. We had an appointment, after getting checked in and waiting 45 mins we left. The glasses I got for myself don't fit into the frames and keep popping out. I've taken them in to get them adjusted and they say its as good as it's going to go in. We were looking at glasses and a customer had to tell us to put the glasses we've tried on in a bucket so they could be sanitized, we were never told that by an employee. I wanted to like this place because it is reasonable and easy. You don't need an appointment, and if you don't have insurance, then you can still take care of your eyes. When we walked in, the first person we talked to was too salesman like. I don't want high pressure sales mixed with my health care! He was trying to sell all kinds of add-ons before we even decided if we were going to stay. We decided to stay as they could get myself and my mom(who was visiting from out of state) right in. The doctors were nice and I feel like I got a good exam. That is where the positives end. The tech helping us with our glasses was rude and rough around the edges. She talked poorly about her co- workers and repeatedly mentioned how she had no tolerance for stupidity. She was short and snappy with most of her co-workers. We got our glasses ordered and were told we would get a call in 10 or so days to pick up our glasses. The exam and order was placed November 1st. We finally called them on November 25th. Guess what? The glasses were in but no one bothered to call and let us know! When we arrived they found my mom's order right away but couldn't find mine. In the mean time they gave us my mom's order. Not only were the frames totally wrong, but they ordered two pairs of the exact same totally wrong frame. Who gets identical frames anyway? In the mean time they found my glasses. They were the right frames but blurry as all get out. I am trying to get use to them. In the process of trying to correct my mom's order, the rude woman who helped us the first time was off the phone now (she was yelling at a customer on the phone, and everyone in the shop could hear her). She asked what was wrong to her co- worker and when the co-worker told her the wrong frames had been ordered, she huffed turned around and muttered it was clearly us not her that made the error. At this time we were beyond annoyed so we requested a refund minus the exam and took our business elsewhere. My mom was able to find two pairs of frames she likes better and to get better lenses for half the cost somewhere else. We will never be back! read more

First of all I went into the store and got my eye exam. The dr. was very nice. I went out and picked two pair f glasses one was 69.00 and one 89.00 .The young lady that helped me was very nice her name is Samantha I told her that I wonted tint on one of them (darker framed one). I know that because I did have a 20.00 FDT and a retinal imaging, bifocals that it was extra. I then waited two weeks and when I didn't get a call I called the office. I did think that it was pretty pricy at the time my ins. paid 183.17 and I paid 332.18 .When I came to pick up my glasses I was helped by a young lady and we discovered that both glasses were the same as the other . So we sent back the one pair. I had to go pick out a new pair because Samantha had scanned the same pair twice and they didn't know what the other pair was, I did get a different pair. When they called me to pick up my new glasses I got them and left. When I got home I discovered I couldn't see threw them very well unless I put them down some. I called and they said to bring them in as I did the next morning. When I got there and I was meant by a young lady and she tried adjust them and said there seems to b a problem but I wont to have my manager help out and make sure I'm doing this right, I said ok. The manager came, his name is Tyson. At first very nice guy. He tried to adjust the glasses also. He (Tyson)said he don't see a problem with them. I told him (Tyson) that I couldn't see out of them properly, he then said that didn't understand what was wrong. I told him that the line was in my way it was to high. After he was so very rude and wasn't understanding of my frustration I got up and told him just never mind. I have went to this store and location for many years I will never go there again. worst experience ever - been going there for years. purchase contacts yearly. after the purchase they usually send you home with a small sample size. girl that help me stated they ran out and getting some ordered. I can back to store and ask for it since I didn't get one. not sure if management change policy ehich should've been told when I was there. She must have been having a bad day who knows she was stating they only give the samples to customers who is a first time - basically arguing with me if I'm a first time customer when all I was doing was explaining that's never been the case came in for contacts I always left home with a sample. Not nice and not how you treat long time customers asking for just a sample of eye contact solution didn't think it was that big of a deal but made into a whole ordeal. Dr. Veater has been with me through thick and thin. Dry eyes now days are a common problem. Dr Veaters helped me get my moisture back. Lots of common sense with a great bedside manner. What they don't tell you about their prices are the cost for lense, 2 pairs for $69 and up with free eye exam but if you don't get 2 glasses or decide you don't want any at all your stuck with a $50 eye exam bill. Ended up getting a pair for over $250. When my glasses arrived it seemed they never even bothered to call me. Some of their employees just didn't seem to be very enthused either. read more

Their new manager, Tiffany, has really elevated the staff to the "old school" level of genuinely caring about people, which shows through in the kinds of ways they take care of the customers. It's a really easy place to go get your glasses and eye exams. Just really annoyed of one thing. I called them because they had called me but asked to put me on hold. When I said yes, they had me on hold for almost 20 min. Considering it was late I yelped to see what time they had closed, and it said they closed at 7. So I've been on hold for almost 20 minutes and it's past 7 so I'm wondering if maybe they forgot or they just assumed I would hang up for being on hold to long, but no one should be on hold for that long. read more
