They did a very poor job on my driveway! They told me that the seal coating would last for years & my driveway would look like new - far from that. They cashed my check immediately, before I even had the opportunity to see that they had left piles of asphalt debris all over my lawn. Less than a month after the job the sealant began peeling & plant growth came through in the cracks they supposedly sealed. After my repeated phone calls & emails were ignored for a couple of months they finally came back to patch areas that were peeling, but then other areas began peeling away & plant growth came through again. After many phone calls & texts the owner finally answered my call. He promised he would send his crew back within a few weeks & re-do the job. Weeks passed & they didn't show - I patiently waited a couple of more weeks. Then I called again, multiple times & sent texts but once again I was ignored & I still haven't heard back - it's been about 5 months now. I feel ripped off & taken advantage of. This company leaves me no choice but to post poor reviews & most likely I'll have to file in small claims court.... very upsetting, stressful & frustrating! It seems all other reviews on this page are of the same opinion :(

Promised to come back and finish the job, but never showed up! Please be aware and do not suffer like I did. I feel so depressed every time I look at my yard. It's very damaged , need lots of money to fix. I spent 15k to do the patio , which is not finished. The driveway wasn't properly coated either. This has been so stressful dealing with them. I just want my patio finished, which I paid in full already. Please don't use these guys. Bill and John are their names!

I have done all the work in my house over the last 25 years, but decided the effort and skill to remodel a kitchen was the job of a pro. Turning everything over to someone else was not an easy decision. However, it worked out far better than we had ever envisioned. After getting five quotes, and speaking with five contractors, we chose Steve Hopps and "Old School." Steve showed genuine interest in making our kitchen beautiful and unique. While not the least or most expensive, Steve seemed to offer something none of the other contractors offered: professional craftsmanship and a concern to get it exactly as we dreamed it would be. Our choice proved to be perfect. In every step of the way, Steve was on target. When unforeseen issues turned up, Steve suggested solutions that were right on target. He worked closely with out cabinet company, the electrician, plumber, and flooring people. He also had a hand in all of these aspects to keep the work flowing smoothly. He worked quickly and efficiently. He explained what he was doing, and his workmanship is not just professional, but the work of a true craftsman. When tiling the backsplash, he even rotated tiles placing some in the best place for a better look and flow. Only an artist, a person with a deep love of perfection would do this. Steve Hopps did all of this for us. I would highly recommend Old World Remodeling to any one. Quality, affordability, craftsmanship, personability, and results are all 10s. Choosing Old School Remodeling was the best decision we have ever made concerning our home. When it is time to do the bathrooms, Steve will be doing them, no questions asked!!!! One can do no better than using this company for any remodeling in his house.

This was the second time I've used Monk's for painting projects at my home in Morris Plains, and…read moreonce again I was extremely happy with the results. The first project, several years ago, involved painting multiple interior rooms and crown molding. Most recently, I hired them to paint three new structural porch columns and my front door. While that may sound like a straightforward job, it really wasn't. Black structural columns are not something you see every day, so preparation, product selection, and attention to detail were critical to getting the look I wanted and ensuring the finish would hold up to the elements. Bob came out to provide the estimate. He was professional, easy to work with, and, most importantly, took the time to listen to what I was trying to achieve and the concerns I had about the project. He was also able to get the work scheduled within the same week. I worked closely with Ron, who I believe was the lead painter on the job. He was incredibly knowledgeable and detail-oriented. I supplied the INSL-X primer recommended for fiberglass columns and discussed paint options with him. He agreed with the approach and helped ensure the project was done the right way rather than just the fastest way. The work took two full days and exceeded my expectations. The crew took great care to protect my brand-new porch, covering the decking and railings thoroughly so there was no risk of paint getting where it didn't belong. What really stood out was the follow-up. Both Bob and Ron checked in independently after the work was completed to make sure I was satisfied. They also made it clear that if any issues came up, they would come back and make it right. The pricing was fair, the workmanship was excellent, and the customer service was outstanding from start to finish. It's refreshing to work with a company that still takes pride in doing quality work and standing behind it. I plan to use Monk's again next year for additional interior painting projects and would not hesitate to recommend them.
