I have done all the work in my house over the last 25 years, but decided the effort and skill to remodel a kitchen was the job of a pro. Turning everything over to someone else was not an easy decision. However, it worked out far better than we had ever envisioned. After getting five quotes, and speaking with five contractors, we chose Steve Hopps and "Old School." Steve showed genuine interest in making our kitchen beautiful and unique. While not the least or most expensive, Steve seemed to offer something none of the other contractors offered: professional craftsmanship and a concern to get it exactly as we dreamed it would be. Our choice proved to be perfect. In every step of the way, Steve was on target. When unforeseen issues turned up, Steve suggested solutions that were right on target. He worked closely with out cabinet company, the electrician, plumber, and flooring people. He also had a hand in all of these aspects to keep the work flowing smoothly. We hired Danny at Dino's services to do custom shelving at my house. They charged a price that was…read moreway too much but it was for custom woodwork so I agreed. I gave him 50% of the price as a deposit. They cut a hole in my wall and then did not return for a long time so I was staring at a hole in my wall in my living room. When he finally returned he had all the excuses in the world. Then the excuses started, that the wall is not straight and he can't do what he originally said he would do. The excuses were coming hard and fast. I would think he would have known the wall wasn't perfectly straight when he looked at it. A good carpenter would have suggested something else like floating shelf's on the wall instead of an insert into the wall. He didn't show up several times when he was supposed to. He and his crew didn't clean up after themselves. He dropped paint on my hardwood floors and when I asked him to clean it he did but he insisted it wasn't him. I wasn't painting so who else could it have been. I am heartbroken because these shelves were suppose to be a memorial for my fur babies. End result was cheap wood from Home Depot with a cheap horrible paint job. The wood is also cracking now. So much for the custom woodwork that I thought I was paying for. He also asked for the entire balance way before the job was completed. And the job took way longer than expected because he was constantly not showing up. I actually told him if he is not going to show up to at least let me know so I can go to work. Don't hire this joke he will take your money then give you excuses all the pictures of the cracks and unfinished wood and paint drips.
