Wilmer and his crew at Power Home Contractors were absolutely phenomenal! We've always wanted our basement finished, but always thought the cost would be too high so we never pursued it further. However, once the pandemic hit and we found ourselves spending so much more time inside, we decided to test the waters and get a few estimates so that our family of five could potentially enjoy more indoor space. We had about 5 different companies come out and give us estimates, and Wilmer's was by far the most detail oriented and reasonably priced. We signed on the dotted line, and almost immediately Wilmer and his guys started the job. They worked tirelessly every day (Saturdays included) for 4 weeks straight and transformed our 1200 square foot dark, drab basement to a bright, fun, and elegant space. Even better, they completed the job in record time, exceeding our wildest expectations. My wife and I are so incredibly happy with how everything turned out and our 3 kids absolutely love all the extra room they now have to play . For a price tag that isn't cheap, one would think they would be getting a top of the line service, with no headaches and gimmicks. Incorrect. Our experience with Power for siding couldn't have gone worse. It all started when we received a confirmation call about our start date and dumpster delivery. So it came as quite a surprise when the day came and went and no dumpster appeared. My wife had to call and ask what was up and they surprised us with letting us know our project would be delayed several weeks. No problem but, why did they call us 24 hours before to confirm it? This is a super unorganized company is the answer. The next issue was when the delivery driver was a complete dick to my wife while dropping off the material. Ok, things happen. Unacceptable but I moved on, just chalking up his rudeness to a bad day. Wrongo. Next start with the real issues. They destroyed, literally destroyed our Verizon Wi-Fi system, removed it, put it back upside down, and didn't cover it and of course there was a state of emergency and it got flooded/destroyed to pieces. Thanks guys who were "experts" in their training! LOL. A funny joke from power I suppose? This one really takes the cake. Michael, our site manager, tried to charge us for THEIR mistakes. We signed a contract, which my understanding of a contract is that you are locked into a rate. He tried telling us that we had to pay 5K MORE than we were quoted. I obviously lost it at this point, said that was unacceptable we would have to pay for his mistake. After uncomfortably arguing for what felt like an hour (it was an actual hour) he was able to work it out with his boss and they ended up eating the 5K. But thanks so much for trying to rip us off to our faces!!! Imagine if we were elderly or just not as fast? RIP OFF KINGS. Next our Wi-Fi cable was cut again. Like, are you guys kidding me? I mean, I am not in construction, nor do I know a thing about installing siding.... but I definitely know, I wouldn't be walking around CUTTING CABLES to anything. Much less doing it twice!! So this was super infuriating for my wife who works from home. Really stellar to be without Wi-Fi for several days. Thanks Power!!!! The pop ins that they don't do anything about, that you sign in your contract, yea they were littered all over our house. From the carelessness of the guys installing it. We still have them. See photos for example. Our yard/driveway/flowerbeds/backyards/patio/tree beds are still littered with microplastics from the installation. I guess they will become a part of our home. At this point it was just funny with how horrible they were. So after they leave, pack it all up and head out... about a week or 2 later we started having some strange power issues with our house. For example, we only had electricity in our bedroom and dining room. Literally power was out in the entire house, our fridge, dishwasher, lights, bathrooms, we had NO POWER in our house. Not knowing what was up we called an electrician, couldn't fix it, then PSE&G came out around 9pm.... the guy asks, did you recently do any work to the outside of your house?"  to which we replied, "Yes we had our siding redone". "Well", the guy says, "they didn't properly re-connect your cables". AVOID THEM. I am trying to warn you!!! They just don't know what they are doing at all. The icing on the cake came last week when I went to rake the leaves. The MOTHER FCKRS STOLE our rake!! They asked us to borrow it and then just decided they needed it more than we did. Foolishly, we didn't check to see if they returned it. We are still waiting for a reply from Michael on how to rectify this. Best believe, I'll get a rake or a credit for one. F Power. I would NEVER in a hundred years use this company again or recommend it to a loved one. Again, if you know someone you do not like and would like to recommend them, go ahead. This company is a HARD PASS from me. Will never use again. I saw them talking to my neighbors, but fortunately I warned them about their sketchy, shotty business and they used other people. read more

From gutting our basement, refinishing floors on two levels, installing new flooring and exterior woodwork his team handled every request with a can-do, positive attitude. Every one of his team worked earnestly, honestly and an old-school work ethic that is increasingly hard to find anymore. It exists! When new suggestions (on my part) came up during the repair, Wilmer was always ready to provide a smart and economical solution. An example of this is when we found hardwood flooring under our living room carpet and we switched from putting a new floor in to restoring the old one. Besides the great work they did, the best part about using Power Home Contractors was that Wilmer always answered the phone or called right back and showed up when he said he would. Maybe it's just me, but many times it seems like contractors either don't need money or have better jobs than mine because they don't show up on time or at all, don't answer their phones, etc. I had none of those issues with Wilmer's Power Home Contractors. When the job was done we had some questions, called and reached him every time and he showed up to personally address the issue, even if he had to send a worker back later to address it (which were some minor items we saw after, but nothing major). They put new vinyl siding on the house and the detached two-car garage, replaced all windows, and did masonry work on the house's foundation and stairs. They also rebuilt a part of the garage that had been demolished by my neighbor's huge tree that fell on it as well as repaired some roofing damage done by the tree. Also, they removed a shed from behind the garage, added a new door frame with a utility door and deadbolt lock to close the back of the garage, and some electrical work to add a floodlight above the new door behind the garage. Now there is some bad, but it was handled well. I understand things will happen and not always go as planned. I asked Wilmer to quote some additional work to finish our attic. He gave a quote, but when we were ready for him to start, he tripled the price. We were livid, his explanation was he didn't know how he got it so wrong, that price wouldn't even cover the workers' wages. Well, we relied on that quote. Though I am pissed, to his credit Wilmer apologized several times, did not shy away from the error, and offered alternatives. We obviously would not accept triple the price but we were satisfied enough with the consistency of the quotes for the original much bigger projects and his service with addressing the subsequent quote issue that we had him do some smaller projects and even referred him to three other people over the last 9 plus months. Regarding pricing, Power Home Contractors had very reasonable prices for the large jobs we wanted to be done. We received quotes from 5 companies and their price was the most reasonable for every project. However, I reviewed pictures of their work first on Yelp and their website to see the quality and was satisfied that they could do a good job for the price and it wasn't a low price for a "you get what you pay for situation". THEY DELIVERED!!!. Now for the smaller jobs, I will stick with a handyman because the price for Power Home Contractors workers didn't change because the job is smaller, so smaller jobs requested we felt were a bit pricey. Wilmer and his team did a amazing job and for a great price. We had some ceiling damage in the kitchen. After opening the plaster ceiling they discover a slow leak from the bathtub above. They repaired the leak and while looking pointing out damaged wood from the water. Also notice there was a footer missing. It seems the previous owners did some remodeling work and never added the proper supports. The team could temp fix it but with the weight of tub etc i would eventually cause major damage. I decided to do the proper thing. All this work along with the installing two ceiling fans, a glass shower panel in the and bathroom was completed in a day. The team came back this morning and painted the ceiling in a few hours. Everything was always covered and protected. The team left my house clean and was very polite. They also were very respectful of COVID and always had mask on while inside. I definitely recommend them and have already referred to two of my friends. read more

We got a very fair price to have the main floor of our home sanded, stained, and refinished. We were able to schedule it almost immediately and the job was done in 2 days as promised. The team also arrived each day at the time they said they would which is rare sometimes with contractors. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is because at certain angles we can see the floor in our kitchen area has some noticeable marks from the sanding or from applying the stain/finish with a brush. However, the dining room and 2 large living rooms look perfect so overall they did a really good job at a good price. read more

We finally decided to update the closet space in the second floor of our Cape Cod home. Wilmer and his team did an amazing job converting the tiny existing closet into something usable. In one of the rooms, he was able to reposition the closet space and expand the room as well. He added recessed lights and painted the walls. He was even able to match the hardwood floors! I finally found an honest, hardworking contractor that does great work for a reasonable price. Started with just doing our lawn better than our old landscaper and for less. Then we re-tiled a foyer. Then we found hardwood floors under old carpeting and they did a great job refinishing the floors, staining and 2 coats of laquer. With the pouring rain on Friday we heard dripping in our downstairs bathroom. We went in to see what was up and saw that the ceiling was leaking! Did a quick yelp search & found Power Home. I called Wilmer right away & he came by 3 hours later! He checked the roof and found the problem. Gave us a quote & committed to coming Sunday morning to fix it. He came today, finished all of the roofing repairs & scraped away the damaged parts of the ceiling, filled it, and repainted the entire ceiling. He was patient as we searched for the old paint (which ended up being frozen so we tried to thaw it with a bucket of hot water then realized it was old & no good, had to toss it & buy new paint). He went & bought the paint with my husband, came back, and got right to work. Within a couple hours everything was done. He spent a lot of time making sure the job was done with care & quality. We contracted with Power Home to do several projects in our new home. Of the several contractors who visited our home to give us quotes for our projects, Wilmer from Power Home was the only one to detect a moisture issue in our basement, and he immediately began troubleshooting and helping us to try to solve the problem. Wilmer and his crew did a phenomenal job installing recessed lights in our living room, re-grading the soil around our house and doing other landscaping, and refinishing our deck. Wilmer and his team also created a new pantry and installed a new sliding door. The centerpiece of the work that Wilmer did for us was creating a new full bathroom with which we are very pleased.
