I recently took my 99 f250 to these guys after a miserable transmission and transfer case blow out in Dillon. It's an absolute pain braking down in the mountains, AC transmission made it manageable. Triple A towed it in for me and didn't have to bother me with acceptance issues or any of that. Just like they said. Have it towed and dropped here and we will give you an estimate. They gave me the quote and didn't bs around getting it done. Turned it in Wednesday and was ready by tuesday. That's with mlk day and the weekend. Would recommend. They are within the 100 miles for triple A from most ski resorts. Have an issue get it towed to them hassle free. read more

I know auto shops can be disorganized but this place might take the cake. I was asked to schedule a day to address an unidentified transmission leak. Brought in as scheduled on a Monday and they touted their free evaluation and would call when they identified the issue. Two days later I called to check and found that they had a quote ready but just never called. They didn't have a good explanation of why they chose the services items on the quote but I agreed. No call the next day to confirm the work was being done as committed so I waited until Friday as I know how frustrating it can be to have owners constantly breathing down your neck (though shops really force you to do this). The person I spoke to had no idea of the status of my vehicle and said someone would call after lunch breaks. No call. Finally I call back to be told they haven't started working on it at all and were going to try and get it in - this after they had the nerve to ask me what was to be done to the vehicle. This is a Friday afternoon. After being told I'd get an update in the next hour, I voiced my concern about their lack of communication and ability to update me. Apologies all around and a commitment to call. After not being called over an hour later I decided to just go by to get my vehicle. Sure enough it is just sitting where it had been since Tuesday. When I walked in and asked for my keys, the gentleman who seems like the guy in charge, just said "yah we just couldn't get to it" and when I mentioned not calling again he just shrugged. I get a shop is busy. But don't lie to customers. This is the type of stuff that gives the few decent shops a bad name. I'm glad they didn't work on my vehicle as their disorganization and lack of consideration is all I need to know about their actual craftsmanship. read more

In 2016 my '05 Subaru Outback started squealing the tires when I made a turn, shifting hard, and taking too long to shift. I took it to a Subaru mechanic that checked it out & told me there is something wrong with the transmission. He pointed to a place nearby & said they were trained in transmissions & to take my car there. He did not say if he recommended this place or not, in fact, he said he knew nothing about them. I told the man at the counter, Brian, what the problem was. He told me I needed a new transmission because the AWD was "stuck on". I didn't know any better so I asked the price of a new transmission and labor. He quoted me over $8,000. I wondered if maybe this was girl prices so I asked my dad to call a few days later. When my father called, he was quoted just under $7,000. I should have known then to leave this guy alone & find a more reputable mechanic, but I tried one more time. I thought maybe because my dad has an accent he might be getting a high price as well. I thought this because the office of AC Transmission seemed to be highly political with mildly racist memes on the walls. A few days later I asked a male friend to call to get a quote. This time Brian quoted $4,200. I was told this was a steal & to jump at the chance so I asked my friend to take my car in. A few days later my friend told me the car was ready but that I had to pay in cash. When I picked up the car my friend checked under the car and said the transmission looked clean, but he added that they could have just cleaned it. I asked for paperwork on this new transmission & Brian told me that he has to keep all paperwork because of the 10,000 mile warranty. I asked for a copy and I was told that he didn't have a copy machine. When I paid him he added on the new axel he replaced. I had no idea he was going to do that! Luckily my friend had cash on him so we were able to make it out there with my car. During our conversation about the axel Brain made a racist comment about "not hitting anymore coons". I was SO happy to be out of there! A month later I asked the same friend look @ my car. I thought it was still shifting hard and it felt like there was no AWD. He looked at it and said that I needed a new water pump so we might as well have AC Transmission do that & look that transmission again. I reluctantly agreed. This time when I got my car back I defiantly knew something was wrong. Again, I was asked to pay in cash and I wasn't given a receipt. That's when I knew all of this was being done under the table. 3 days after getting my water pump and timing belt replaced my car broke down. The whole car just shut off and wouldn't start again. I looked under the hood and saw the timing belt had come off and ripped through the timing belt cover. I called Brian because this was obviously their fault. I was told to have my car towed there & they would fix it. My friend assured me this would be free & they would reimburse the tow bill as well. He said since this was their fault, without a doubt, they had to make it right. Well, I got a call the next day saying my (less than 1 year old) harmonic balancer was to blame. Brian told me that since this was my fault they wouldn't do any repairs for free & I needed to pay over $400 for the fix. My friend picked up the car & asked to see the old harmonic balancer. He was told that the recycle had picked it up already. He was told it was going to be $550 because they did a tune up too. I never OKed a tune up because I had just done 1 myself the month before. I had put in a new battery, spark plugs & spark plug wires. My friend, unknowingly, paid the extra money. When he told me about the tune up I was enraged. I looked under the hood and saw the all the brand new wires and battery had been replaced with old used parts! The battery was already over a year old & the wires looked like they had rust and dirt all over them. At this point I had now paid over $5,000 for this "mechanic" to lie to me & steal parts off my car. I started to question the legitimacy of that transmission. About a month later my car wasn't doing well at all. The check engine light kept coming on with codes saying I had a misfire on all cylinders. I had no power to the car & the best I could do is literally put around town. I took it to another Subaru mechanic who took the engine out and said I needed a new one. He showed me how the gears had been stripped. He was 100% positive this was caused by the timing belt. He said that whoever replaced the timing belt didn't time it correctly and the gears have been slowly stripped down ever since. As of today I am waiting to get my transmission replaced (again) because the gears were very old & worn down. This seems odd for a new transmission that is barley 2 years old. It's pretty obvious at this point that Brain & crew at AC Transmission didn't do the work they were paid to do, stole from me & my car, & charged me! read more

My car broke down early last year - tow truck driver thought it was my transmission, and brought me here. WHAT A MISTAKE AND NIGHTMARE! Was originally lead to believe my transmission was broken - after further investigation, turned out it was my front differential. After waiting for hours to hear the 'diagnosis', I finally had to call AC Transmission to figure out what was going on. Long story short, they told me it would be a few days to fix - ended up taking more than a week, and costing more than they originally quoted me - and had to constantly call them to check on the status of things. Nothing else I could do, so I paid and vowed never to return. A couple months later, I brought my car into a new place downtown for an oil change/check up. Shortly after dropping it off - they asked me to come down and assess some 'damage' they noticed to my car. Apparently the workers at AC Transmission destroyed my axle nuts - using something like an air gun, instead of a rubber mallet. When I saw my car on the lift - they were able to move my front right tire around with little effort, and told me I was lucky it didn't come off while I was driving it. Had to go back and forth between the two businesses. AC Transmission picked my car up, fixed everything for free - but was without a car again for several days. Was a truly awful experience. Even though they fixed my car for free, it was still a huge pain in the ass. Never, ever, ever returning - and will never recommend. read more

We were the classic "ripe for picking" customers- a couple with kid, out of state, overloaded van having transmission problems late in the day. Found them online and "limped in" at 5pm. Brian hooked up and read the codes. We started looking for hotels expecting to be told we need a new transmission and it won't be ready til Monday. Within 30 minutes they replaced a speed sensor, reset the codes, and test drove it. Brian gave us directions out of town and let us know if the transmission hiccuped, to come back. Had my 2002 WRX clutch replaced here. They made a mess of it the first time - installing the clutch fork incorrectly. This led the entire system to fail about 1000k miles later. Why am I giving 4 stars? Because when I brought the car back in (on a tow-truck, mind you) they warrantied the work without pause or exception, replacing the clutch, clutch fork, flywheel, and other miscellaneous parts that had been damaged by the poor workmanship. I initially regretted going with these guys (were about $400 less than a comparable subie shop for this work) but everything turned out alright in the end. One thing I would watch for is that they hook all your vacuum hoses up correctly on turbo cars - I noticed I wasn't hitting target boost after their first crack at replacing the clutch and made sure to tell them to double-check everything when I brought it in for the warranty repairs. Should things be done right the first time? Yes, absolutely. However a business owner making things right and not hesitating to warranty his mechanic's work is a refreshing change. Everyone makes mistakes, but how they handled theirs really made this shop stand out to me, especially for such an inexpensive price on the work. read more

I was extremely disappointed with my experience with this shop. We had a problem with our Chevy Suburban and had it towed to AC Transmission. First they said it was the rear differential and that it would be ~$900 to fix. Then they said it wasn't the rear differential after all, but the transfer casing and it could be as much as $2000 but they didn't think it would be that bad because it would only be that high if no parts were recoverable. Apparently it was pretty bad and without my approval they did the work and informed me that the total would be $1988. Because we were not in town, we gave them a credit card to charge the repair. When we got the car and looked at the invoice, it was over $2200. I immediately called to let them know they had over charged me, they took a message and said they would call me back. They didn't. I called again and spoke to the person I had been working with - he admitted the mistake and promised to credit us. A week went by and no credit. I called back and he admitted he "forgot" to credit us and promised to do it right away. Another 4 days go by and no credit. Finally after another call and more than 3 weeks they credited us the over charge. I was frustrated that the repair cost double what they originally estimated, but the over charging and refusal to credit back infuriates me. I believe this is a conscious effort on their part to overcharge and then put the onus on the customer to ask for a credit. Then they make it very difficult to actually get the credit hoping the customer will give up. Take your car elsewhere if you can. These guys are not honest business people. read more

I had my 2004 Subaru in here about six weeks ago. Wanted to give it some time, so I could see how the work held up. I gave it four stars because I had to call for updates, didn't bother me, but it might you. Remember that transmission work is not an oil change, it takes days or more, especially if you are asking fur rebuilt parts! The cost was very fair, when I called for updates they were complete, and the work has held up, my tranny doesn't slip! I'd go back without hesitation. read more

While on my way home I noticed that my alternator was starting to go out so I pulled off at the nearest exit to seek help. While it was an unfortunate situation, I could not be more fortunate to have found this wonderful AC Transmission Center. I thought I had damaged the transmission in F150 hauling to much weight (a stock trailer with 12 hd of calves) and probably forgetting to take it out of overdrive. My mechanic doesn't work on transmissions and referred me to AC Transmission. They got me right in to do an evaluation. Turns out nothing is wrong with the transmission and it probably just needs a minor tune up. It was just coincidental that I notice it was running quite right was on the same day I did the hauling. They are really nice folks. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is I thought they were going to call me with a status and I had to call them at the end of the day which was no big deal. read more

They will keep your car for a really long time, keep telling you that they are working hard on it, then when you are about to take it somewhere else, magically the car is done and ready to be picked up. My moms car was acting up and without talking to me, she had already been told it was her transmission causing her problems. She was recommended to take the Ford Fusion to AC transmission and they quoted her near $4,000 to rebuild her transmission. After they looked at and planned on working on it, she called me and let me know what was going on. She said her car was chugging and would not accelerate. If you are a car person you automatically know it doesn't sound like a transmission problem. So I did some research and called a few car buddies and came to the conclusion it was most definitely not her transmission. I called Ford the next morning and asked them if they could take a peak at the car and guess what?! Her transmission is completely FINE!! We got her electronic throttle body replaced for FREE!! AC transmission had full intentions of taking advantage of a nice lady with no car knowledge and doing "work" to her car that wasn't even needed. These people will forever be on my bad list!! I will never ever recommend anyone to this place! Clearly FORD wants to keep there customers happy and keep them coming back for more business, NOT AC transmission! read more
