Okay - I took a gamble going here and it did NOT disappoint. I think it might be my new go to spot since my usual stylist retired. When you walk in, everyone is so excited & just happy to be there. Ok, ok - yes it's a school but it's so legit! I had my hair cut by Shubashini (Lakshmi?). First of all - what a total sweetheart chasing her dreams. She provided the kind of experience that would gain her loyalists for her services. So excited for her! I would pay for just the hair wash cuz that head massage that came with it was phenomenal. Low-key still dreaming of it. She spend adequate time understanding the look I was going for (a LOB) and she gave suggestions based on hair type. I have fine hair so she gave me a long layer to add body. She took her time and cared about getting you a quality cut. After, the cut is checked by a teacher there and you're styled off with a blowout and out you go! Affordable. Ample parking. Excited stylists. I had such a great experience at this salon with Stephanie Marquez! She gave me a deep hair cleanse to work on my scalp for dandruff, a haircut and blowout along with a thorough color consultation, and I couldn't be happier with the results. She asked me for clarification to go over specifics and it was a lovely collaborative experience. Stephanie has an amazing personality, she's very precise, and she really takes the time to make sure you're happy with your service. My experience at this school was very mixed. I want to start by recognizing the instructors because they truly made a positive impact on my education. Ms. Silva and Ms. Brooke were amazing teachers who clearly care about their students and love what they do. They created a supportive learning environment and taught us a lot during my time there. I would also like to acknowledge Mr. Alex, who always had great energy and was very helpful. Ms. Danni at the front desk was also always kind and welcoming to students. Unfortunately, my experience with the administration caused me a lot of stress throughout my time at the school. My interactions with the financial aid advisor, Danielle, were often negative and discouraging. There were times when I was struggling financially and trying to communicate honestly about my situation. Instead of feeling supported, I felt like there was little understanding or compassion. For example, when I first enrolled and mentioned that I needed to discuss the monthly payments with my mom because of how expensive it was, I was told by Danielle "this school might not be for you." That comment was very discouraging and set the tone for many of my experiences moving forward. At one point, I was not allowed to attend school for over a week and a couple of days due to a payment issue, even though I had already communicated with danielle the exact date that I would be making my payment. When I did pay, it was nearly about $1,500, but I had already lost valuable time and hours. This situation was very frustrating because students are charged $20 per hour for any time beyond their contracted completion date. Being prevented from attending school caused me to fall behind, and now I am expected to pay for overtime hours that resulted from a situation where I was not allowed to attend, even though I wanted to be there. There was also a time shortly after making that payment when the traffic light at Nordhoff and Tampa was out, causing heavy traffic in the area. This was something that had already been communicated to the school by multiple students. Because of this delay, I arrived late and was sent home, which was extremely frustrating after paying such a large amount to return to school. Additionally, I was once sent home by Ms. Melissa, the night instructor, for not having my book with me. What made the situation more frustrating was that she waited until the end of the lesson to send me home. During that same situation, she claimed that I was falling asleep in class, which was not true. I emailed Jill and asked if the cameras could be reviewed to verify this. I was told the situation would be looked into and that I would receive a response, but I never heard back. Overall, these experiences caused a lot of unnecessary stress and made me feel unsupported during my time at the school. I truly appreciate the instructors who work hard and care about their students, but unfortunately my experience with the administration overshadowed those positives. Because of this, I would not recommend this school. read more

COSMO ALUMNI CHECKIN!!! Where do I even begin.. My journey starting the academy was a personal battle, I started my cosmo education completely over coming from another academy. I came in with little to no expectations due to my prior educational environment, my mindset QUICKLY changed. My phase 1 & 2 instructors Ms. Morgan & Mr. Alex not only introduced me to new techniques, elevated my skills, but poured into me DAILY!!!! I wouldn't have been able to complete my program & get my license had it not been for Ms.Morgan, Mr.Alex, Ms.Brooke (Esthie Educator), Danielle, & the Front Desk ladies; I would walk into Danielle's fish bowl office lol crying my eyes out (for personal reasons), she would talk me off the ledge at least once a month, no exaggeration!!! She not only was helpful in the financial department but she was loving & very respectful! My AFSP family valued and supported me through every single obstacle that was thrown my way. From them putting in extra time on the weekends for students to make up hours to them respecting students with younger children. My experience was truly a blessing. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. To say they went over and beyond with be a understatement, I was able to graduate with my class on time, I clocked out the same week as my classmates, and I passed stateboard on my 1st try, 2 weeks after clocking out, mind you I was able to accomplish all of that recovering from a fires & a 2 week LOA! The proof is in the pudding, you will not be able to find another Academy like AFSP and this is coming from someone who is not easily moved & over analyze everything & everyone. Every Academy has room for improvement but what I can say is ASFP gives opportunity for us to advocate for ourselves and hear our questions/concerns and act on them with urgency. If you're thinking about applying here... DON'T. The rules are insane, the administration is disorganized, and it feels like students are treated as free labor and a source of money. Education is clearly not their priority, and they don't care about making your time there even remotely enjoyable school shouldn't feel like a jail. The teachers themselves are fine, unfortunately, their efforts can't overcome the school's chaotic structure, which makes everything unnecessarily stressful. I regret coming here and not looking for a better environment. These were some of the longest, most frustrating months I've ever experienced. If you absolutely must consider this school, read everything carefully and have someone else review what you're signing trust me, you don't want any surprises at the end. read more

Ever since my favorite hairdresser left the salon I go to, finding a replacement for her had been tough. I've tried different places either upon friends' recommendation or certificates I bought from Groupon but still no luck. It's been years that I'd been to a salon so I usually just dye and cut my own hair. I didn't know about this place until I saw an ad and decided to come for hair coloring. Why not? The services are pretty cheap compared to regular salons. As an adventurous person, I'm always open to trying new places or what not.
