From my experience living in this neighborhood, you will have a hard time finding parking. 3. The parking permit system changed to being online and, according to a representative at this office, you do not get stickers anymore and it is all "in the system." So, let's hope the meter maids are aware of this. 4. Online parking permits do not have a renewal option, so wait to purchase the permit on the expiration date or you will lose days! 5. There is now a $3 surcharge to order parking permits online. The following is from my original visit to the former Union City location: I've visited the parking permit office here twice and both times the wait was short and the employees were nice. Normally I am in and out in under 20 minutes and the process is easy. I filled out a simple form, update some stuff on the computer, make a copy of my info, print the permit, and all was done. It takes no more than 10 minutes to complete and get your permit in hand once you engage with a representative. The establishment is clean with a few seats in the waiting area. The only task here is finding parking in the area since it is a busy metered street. It is best to park along the avenues to avoid the meters. Overall a positive experience. During the days after Hurricane Sandy, this establishment was one of the only places running on generators around in the area. The station itself is pretty clean and manned well even though some vagrants hang out along JFK Blvd by the Duane Reade now and then. On another note, there's lots of construction and building going on around the station and area seems up and coming so there's room for improvement.
