I HAD HIGH HOPES, DIDN'T LOVE IT. All around: 2/5 I think the place is so cute and in a great little area. I love that they sell boars head, and have a cute little menu with drinks and food. However. the customer service could use a little bit of help; both workers were quiet and didn't really have a warm welcoming. Smoothie: 1/5 I did not like the warm temp of the smoothie, I didn't like the consistency, or the taste. I am new to the area and I will admit I am a smoothie snob! For some reason in the Downey - Montebello area it is extremely hard to find a great smoothie! I will not be back. I don't quite like that there is no restroom, but I could even bypass that as long as my smoothie has the right taste. lol. read more

My friends have been talking about this place all week and finally got to try it. Definitely worth the hype! My favorites are the chipotle chicken ciabatta (perfect taste and crunch) and classic pagode açaí bowl (fresh ingredients and perfect amount of agave). My friends got the MFD sandwich, mod tuna sandwich, and sao paulo açaí bowl and they all enjoyed it! Will be back to try different items on the menu when I'm back in Downey! This was my favorite açaí place. I feel bad writing this review as the guy who attended me was really helpful in recommending smoothies. Unfortunately I didn't like that he did not use any gloves to make my smoothies I had to throw them away because he was coughing and appeared to be sick. After a long/challenging meeting my brain needed healthy stimulation. Thankfully Açaí World was in the same building as the office I was at. I ordered the Kids açaí bowl which has one scoop of açaí and you can choose three toppings. The toppings are fresh and crunchy just how I like them. The portion is just right and fulfilling. This is a great little spot!! The service was fast and friendly which I greatly appreciated plus the shop was very clean. My açaí bowl was beautiful presented which is always a great part of the experience. I did find that the serving of acai was a little small for the price,and I wasn't completely blown away by the flavor but overall, I think you will really enjoy grabbing a bowl if you are in the area. Came here on a rainy day the service was very quick. When I walked in there was no greeting, they are really straight to the point here. Ordered the MFD which I order particularly because of the red peppers, got home and there was none. The person making the sandwich did not even mention the fact that the sandwich was missing something.... They also don't give chips away with your sandwich order anymore another bummer. There was nobody else there probably because of the coronavirus. We got the #2 sandwiche called "MFD" and an acai bowl (#1 Pagode). The sandwich has basil pesto, sliced deli chicken breast, tomato, veggies, red peppers and mozzarella cheese. They gave us 3 to 4 good slices of chicken which was tender and not dry! The pesto was delicious and I think it was on rye bread. It was a good healthy sandwich. The acai bowl was also good. Searching down the map for the drive back from LA, saw this interesting thing. And great reviews from others sealed the deal to try it out. Online ordering with pick up time was very convenient. Driving down, got a text about 5 min before pick up time, just perfect. Cute and super clean store. Friendly gal grabbed the order for me and I was off in no time. Got the party pack (30) for the school staff, and of course had to try for myself too with a regular (9). Ended up being an hour and a half before I got around to trying our box of 9. Looked interesting enough. Kid took his bite and said yum. I took mine to the sink (lol) to catch any crumbs, but surprised me that it's not just a ball of a regular donut. This had an amazingly satisfying crispy crunchy exterior, with an airy chewy interior! I can't imagine how much better it would be when freshly made at the store! Even an hour and a half later was delicious... Me and the kid quickly devoured our 3 each and struggled to leave 3 for wife before we had to go to an activity. When we returned, wife was also raving, what was that, where did you get it? Trust me, you will not be able to eat just one. I'm greedy, I definitely want more than 3 next time! Donut ball itself wasn't overly sweet, just delicious period. I guess it's the toppings that add the sweetness. Only tried the classic (honey cinnamon, walnut). The other flavors will probably be amazing desserts, but I think all I need is just the donut ball by itself. Honey and walnut adds a bit of sweetness and bite, but the base donut ball is a shining star on it's own in my book! Good thing was the honey was mostly on the bottom and walnut crumbles on top, so you can rub as much or not of those as it fits you. Few days later, each of us were still talking about this greek donut. Just looking for a reason to grab this again. Father's day is coming up, I think it's time for a Party!
