*Snotty, haughty staff (except for the receptionist, who was sweet), broken equipment, suspect PD measurements, high pressure sales tactics, expensive frames & lenses.* The only reason I patronized this shop is because they were on my insurance company's list of approved providers for eyeglasses and the insurance was expiring in a couple days. The shop is small and dark. The furniture is old, and the chairs you have to sit in to have your pupil distance measured are uncomfortable. The selection of frames isn't great, but what they DO have is very pretty and very very expensive. I kept telling her I only had $470 to spend for my eyeglasses, between the insurance and cash on hand, but she kept pressuring me to buy the premium lenses that had a widest field of vision across the lens. This was surprising to me because I am wearing eyeglasses from Walmart that had these so-called "premium" lenses, the entire bill for THOSE was only about $280, and I had never been presented with this kind of choice between not-so-good lenses and good lenses. Why would anyone set up this arbitrary division? Why not give everyone the best vision possible? I could only afford the "lowest" quality, with limited field of vision. Eyeglasses were invented more than 700 years ago. It's not like it's a new thing! I should have walked out, but I was pressed for time; I had already spent several hours on the phone, trying to figure out my insurance; and I really loved the Betsy Johnson eyeglasses I had picked out, which fit my face and style. if the Betsy Johnson's hadn't been so unusual, I would have given this place a "pass." A day or two later, I got a little more money so I could get some sunglasses, which I really need for my macular degeneration. I wasn't about to buy another pair of eyeglasses from Accent on Vision. I couldn't afford them and I didn't like the way I was talked down to and pressured to buy what I couldn't afford. A friend had told me about an online company where she got all her eyeglasses. I decided to give it a try, since I was even more limited with funds than the day I had gone to Access on Vision. I called Access to get my 'PD' measurement to give to the online company, and it was a tremendous hassle. I had to talk to three separate people, hanging on the phone for some time between each one, and had to repeat, over and over again, all my identifying information. Finally, I was connected with someone who deigned to give me the measurement. I had questions about the measurement, and the woman acted like I was a huge waste of time. In withering tones, she answered my questions and when she hung up, she slammed the phone down loudly. That night, I spent several hours online, researching eyeglasses and finding a pair of sunglasses that would fit my odd face. When I tried to order the sunglasses, I was told that the PD measurement I had been given by Access was not something they could work with, when it came to progressive lenses. The online company could not accommodate a difference in PD that was greater than 2 mm. According to Accent, there was a 3 mm difference between my two eyes. I thought this was very odd, and resolved to investigate further. The next day, I went to another eyeglass dispenser in town and had them measure my PD. They came up with a completely different set of numbers in 5 tests on 2 different machines. The difference between my eyes was not 3 mm on those 2 machines. It was barely half a mm difference between the two. I called Accent and left a phone message about the issue. When I didn't get a return phone call from them the morning of the next business day, I called them at 11:30 am. The gal said she was just taking the messages. When I talked to the woman about the PD measurement,I got a frosty reception, again. They were just not helpful. I made it clear that I was concerned about this discrepancy, but the woman said they wouldn't do anything until the glasses came back and I tried them on to see what i thought about them. I really thought they should want the measurement to be right to begin with. She finally agreed that i could come into the office again and they would remeasure me. The next day, I went back to Accent and the snooty girl re-measured my PD. I noticed that the machine she used was RATTLING. There was something that had come loose on the inside of the machine and it was rattling around in there. The computer PD machine was not working, so we couldn't verify the reading with that. The girl refused to do anything for me, refused to acknowledge her machine was broken with a piece rattling around inside it, said "it's never been a problem" and continued to say that, even when I indicated it was a problem for me. She also badmouthed the company that had measured my PD & got the different measurement. I REALLY dislike this place and I resent deeply their snotty attitudes, high pressure sales tactics and blatant disinterest in getting it right to begin with. read more

Great choice for an eye doctor. Able to get an appointment quickly and at my preferred time. The appointment was done efficiently, meaning I felt the service was fast, but also thorough enough to make sure I got the care I needed. I chose to purchase my frames and lenses there in the office, they had lots of choices for frames within my budget/insurance. read more

Customer service during the check in process was great, a lot of smiles, eye contact, and simple plesantries. The pre-exam (whatever that part is called) was also very good, the girl that facilitated it was very kind and friendly, and also full of smiles. The doctor exam went went well. I don't know if it's a complaint necessarily because I think that i understand the different aspects , but the doctor wasn't as friendly, very little eye contact, no smiles, although very professional and to the point, just different in comparison to the rest of the employees when overall it was a very pleasant and cheerful atmosphere. After the exam, checking out glasses for my first time and the girl that assisted was very patient, kind, and friendly. Again plenty of smiles, the checkout process went well. I don't have much to compare since I haven't been to the eye doctor much in my life. But it seems like a large and/or good selection of frames. The whole office looks and smells clean. All that is lacking so far is how long it'll take to get my glasses, and my follow up visit. But i'm sure they will be pleasant. read more

If you write online reviews you've probably encountered this issue at some point: the five star urge. It creeps up on ya when you're considering a four star rating, but the overall rating of the business is kinda dismal, and you figure the place deserves a boost. What's the difference between four and five stars anyway, honestly? I was gonna give Accent On Vision East four stars for minimal reasons. I guess I wasn't thrilled with the final act of our visit, wherein we chose frames and lenses. The consultation itself was thorough, we never felt pressured, but dammit, these days, if you want a really great pair of glasses with superb lenses, it'll cost ya. Modern technology offers some seriously geeky, stylish options for great specs: streak-free lenses, super thin trifocals, combination indoor/outdoor lenses. The more you upgrade, the more you spend. Again, we were never pressured, but the upsell is clearly a big part of the profit margin for optometrists. The next time you take your cat to the vet for her annual vaccinations and they pitch a life insurance plan, remember, extras are everywhere. So I'm looking at the overall star rating for this biz and I'm calling foul. These guys get five stellar stars from me. I brought my wheelchair-ridden relative into this place and he was treated with the utmost respect and care. Dr Fuemmeler was honestly a little too thorough; the visit took a while, she was careful to ask questions that seemed a little abstract, but that's why she's an optometrist and I'm just some dude on the internet. The glasses we ordered took less than two weeks to prepare, and as my relative sent via text today, I quote, "Glasses work neat!" He's not big on trivialities, obviously. read more

I visited this business yesterday with my two daughters & received terrible customer service from Monica, (their so-called Precription Manager). She was rude, condescending & unprofessional. People like Monica, does not make a good representation Accent on Vision - East. I addressed my feelings to Monica & she ran away into her office . How unprofessional !! read more

I have gone to this eye doctor for about 5 years. I have nothing bad to say. The front office staff are always helpful and polite. The wait is not long and before you have a chance to read a story in a magazine you are off to your eye exam and to see the doctor. When it is time to select you glasses they have a wide selection of frames and the folks that help size you are very helpful. read more

Since having lasik over 6 years ago, it's been a while since I have been to an eye doctor. I just came in to get a pair of driving glasses. Brought in an old pair of frames to have fitted for new lenses. I have never been to this new location, but was a patient of Accent on Vision for many many years. I know my HB has had problems with them with scheduling etc. 6+ weeks just to get lenses put in frames? yikers. Friendly though. read more

I have been coming to this location for over 4 years now. I absolutely love this place! The staff is super amazing and very friendly through the entire process, from check-in to checking out. I remember the first time I went, I had to pick a pair of glasses and the fantastic young woman who assisted me was soooo patient and helpful! I probably spent a good hour just getting my glasses all picked out with the lenses. Not once did they make me feel like I was an inconvenience but actually the opposite of that. I felt very welcomed there and that's not something you would expect from an optometrist's office but let me tell you this place has got it goin on! We arrived fifteen minutes prior to our appointment time and had to wait because there were three people waiting to be seen ahead of us. The appointment was extremely rushed and we were not able to spend sufficient time with the doctor. The staff could not explain or answer questions about billing or insurance. We were hurried out the door without answers or instructions for care of our new contacts. We were charged and had to pay for items that our insurance clearly covered, and an extra test was performed that cost an additional $50. We were not informed of the extra cost of this test. I was charged $90 for a visit that should have been covered by a $10 copay. I was refunded $25 of the difference after several phone calls. I intend to tell everyone I know to stay far away from Accent on Vision East. I feel ripped off. read more

Scheduled an appointment for me and my daughter. When we arrived the person at the desk informed me that we had recently rescheduled for two week later. I denied the change and showed him the email confirmation that they had sent to me for this day. I received a shrug and "somebody changed it". No chance of the appointment being fulfilled. A couple of months ago I went in for the second time, just over a year from the first, and got an exam. The Dr didn't tell me about any issues the first time. This time she said that I had some sun damage and was a candidate for cataracks early in life. Recommended a good pair of sunglasses. I would have thought that she would have caught that the first visit just about a year earlier. Then they recommended the photochromatic lenses, etc. Well I bought them and was told if I didn't like them that I could get them replaced with lenses without the photochromatic stuff, within 30 days. It was close to $80.00 for the photochomatic lenses. Well I didn't like them because they barely did the tinting while in the car and driving is when I usually use them. I requested for the regular lenses. I didn't get a call after the new lenses were put in the frames. I had to call them myself. Then when I picked them up I asked if I would be getting the refund soon and they said that all sales are final and I wouldn't be getting a refund. I asked questions, etc and they said no refunds. Wow. What an expensive pair of regular lenses... I should have just kept the photochromatic pair if I knew I wasn't going to get a refund. I would have appreciated a common courtesy notification that I would not be getting the refund. Seems like they might have been trying to sell their other products to make more money. The front desk staff and assistants are really nice though. read more
