The eye exam went well, I have no complaints. When I went to choose my frames, I assumed I would get the same type of service that I received from Eye associates. The employee at Eye Associates allowed me to look around and then had me sit down where she had 4 to 5 frames that were frames she felt best suited my face shape. We went from there. At Modern Eyez, I looked around while the employees was finishing up another customer. When I was finished looking, I sat down at one of the stations and the employee asked me if I had found the frames I was interested in. No help. If I wanted, no help, I would go to Costco where frames and lenses are much cheaper. Next time I will go to Eye Associates. Money lost for Modern Eyez. read more

Located in Rio Rancho surrounded by a family friendly neighborhood. We Made an appointment a month ago and finally got in. Dr. Davis was okay. Not super friendly but seemed knowledgeable. Everyone in the office was strictly business which is fine but it made the environment dull. The office itself was nice and clean. They have their own optical department with many choices of good looking glasses to choose from. Nice big parking lot and they didn't keep us waiting the the lobby for too long. A traffic light was out, causing me to be exactly 10 minutes late, (maybe 10 minutes and 30 seconds) and the employee said I'd need to reschedule due to their 10 minute late policy. She had already confirmed with the manager Stephanie they have no exceptions. I spoke with Stephanie and she definitely did not care and stands by the decision. It's a wild policy to have zero ability to understand that 10 minutes and 30 seconds should be accommodated. They seem to have plenty of business and don't need mine or yours. I ordered distance glasses. I was told that my insurance covered the cost. Less than two weeks later, I came back to pick them up and ordered reading glasses simultaneously. I was told that there was a portion that was not covered by my insurance that I would have to pay. I asked about that since I didn't have a co-pay for my first pair. Unfortunately I neglected to get a receipt. Normally, if I have a new prescription as soon as I put on the glasses, I can see better. With the new glasses, I could not see better. I thought I would just give it a couple of days. For the next few days that I wore my new glasses, not only could I not see very well, but I had severe headache and eye pain. I canceled my request for the reading glasses prescription. When I asked Melissa to be refunded the money I had paid that was not covered by my insurance, I was rudely told by Melissa that I never paid that money. At the time I didn't ask her for a receipt because I didn't think it was necessary, but she literally stole my money in addition to not getting the proper prescription by Dr. Davis. Now my 2024 benefits are gone and I still don't have distance glasses and I'm out of the money that I paid for the second pair that was not covered by the insurance. This was the worst experience I've ever had with an optometrist. If you go there, make sure you get a receipt for everything. Also know that if you go there, you may be getting the wrong prescription. If I could give them a -5 I would. read more

Updating my previous review: I've been taking my wife to Modern Eyez to get fitted with specialty contacts. They used to be very customer service oriented. My wife has had problems with her specialty contacts the last 2 years and they want to charge for follow visits when contacts irritate her eyes. They also get rude when we explain to them this is a follow up appointment for the original contact fitting. I'm extremely dissatisfied with the service and excessive charges. I used to go to Modern Eyez until early in 2017. I had an eye exam and purchased glasses, but the glasses where not correct and anything at a distance of even 20 feet was fuzzy. I told them I could put on my old glasses and see things fine, but not with the new glasses. The people there kept insisting the glasses where correct. They expected me to believe what they were saying instead of what I was seeing. I left and never went back. When they sent a text reminder to make an appointment the next year, I responded that I would not be back and why. I did not hear from them again until this year when they texted a birthday greeting. I found that odd, because I don't recall them ever sending a birthday greeting before. I guess it was a nice gesture, but not enough to get me to go back there. read more

Seeing an eye doctor, for me, isn't something that I do often. But when I do, this is the place I love to go. Dr. Lynn Davis is fantastic. She takes good care of you and answers all of the questions I ask. The staff are friendly and helpful. And their new facility on Golf Course Rd. is great! I was a customer of Modern Eyez a couple of years ago and went someplace else last year trying to save 50 bucks with a coupon. My experience at the other provider was horrible. The equipment was old, the offices were dark, the lobby was crowded and noisy and it took forever for someone to help me start my appointment. This year I went back to Modern Eyez and everything was as I expected. The staff is friendly and my appointment went smoothly. The equipment here is state of the art and I can see much better after having been blurry with vision for over a year. I really wanted to give this a 5 star rating, but there were some issues that I had which led it to a 3. The staff, and Dr Davis are such wonderful people. The office is so posh, and trendy. They take their time with the exam to work out any kinks in your vision,and explain everything as it is being done so that you don't leave there clueless Their glasses:They are a bit pricey, but they do have some pretty good looking frames Now, for the bad (or at least not so good). The prescription that was given to me wasn't the prescription that was written. I confirmed it several times before I went to have my glasses purchased (we all know glasses are not cheap). I think the doctor reversed the # Axis because Ive always had 95 Right, and 70 left. The Rx said 95 L and 70 R. Needless to say when I recieved my new glasses, I damn near fell on my face because everything was off (think Fish eye lenses). My daughter had an eye exam, and was told that she would need glasses only for reading. When we filled the glasses Rx, we were later told that they are for all the time use (not what was told to us by Dr Davis) meanwhile the lenses look like they could be only used for reading (which she does)so that caused a bit of confusion. Im sure they all do their best, but unfortunately these 2 separate instances left me wanting to go elsewhere. read more

Such a rip off. They nickel and dime you for every little service. A contact lens assessment? C'mon. A yearly eye exam should include that. A 2-minute conversation about things I've already been told by 10 other doctors doesn't constitute an entire new bill for a different service. I know my prescription. It hasn't changed in over 20 years. The requirement to see an optometrist once a year is insane but in place because optometrists are scam artists. Didn't see the doctor but the staff was absolutely wonderful, professional and kind!!! I went in with my granddaughter who had broken the frames on her glasses which have special thick low-vision lenses. I wasn't expecting too much, but our specialist in Albuquerque is not easy to get to, and takes a week to get new frames, so I was looking for better service. Modern Eyez had a choice of reasonably priced frames and were very patient while my granddaughter decided on one. I will be switching myself over to that doctor as soon as I need an appointment. I could not be more pleased. NOTE TO ALBUQUERQUE RESIDENTS: This place is closer than you think. It's on the very edge of Albuquerque, just a minute or so from Cottonwood Mall and all the stores around Coors and Alameda. Don't be scared by the Rio Rancho address. read more

I would not recommend this place to have your prescription filled. Poor customer service and poor quality lens. I had a very bad experience at the end of last year. The owner had been recommended to me for an eye test. She was very helpful on my visit. So I decided to have the prescription filled there. It ended as a disaster. Since these were not a main pair of spectacles, I decided to try their "special offer". I only found one pair I liked. So I went ahead and ordered them to be filled. After several attempts to fill them, including one occasion where they put the left lens in the right eye and the right lens in the left eye, I was told they couldn't fill my prescription in those frames. So I was left with 15 minutes to choose a replacement set before they closed and the frames had to be from their"special offer" set. I grabbed another pair to be filled. The first time I wore them, within 1/2 hour, part of the frame fell off. That made me look more closely at the frames and I realized they were all wobbly and skewed. So their "special offer frames". are really seconds, used or discards. Not recommended. I maneuvered them back on to continue testing the lens and realized the prescription was off, as I was developing a headache. On inspection, the lens seemed poor quality to me. As someone who has worn glasses for many years, I am familiar with lens. Looking back, I wish I asked for a refund after the initial failed attempts to fill a prescription. No one ever really offered an alternative solution to me or the chance to speak with the owner. As the lens and frames are useless to me, I basically flushed $130 plus tax down the toilet. read more

We're elated to have found Modern Eyez. Today was our first time visit, my husband has had something irritating his eye and nothing seemed to help. When I told the receptionist that he had been suffering for at least a month by something irritating his eye, she was quick to offer us a spot today so Dr could check his eyes. Dr. Davis was able to solve the problem, he had an eyelash that was stuck in his eyeball. She extracted it and oh my, what a relief. He is so grateful to have the problem solved. The staff at Modern Eyez is an absolute Top Notch group of professionals. The entire staff, from the receptionist, to the technician and of course Dr. Davis treated us with the utmost care. The office is a welcoming environment, it's clean, decorated beautifully and energetically inviting. I will absolutely recommend this business to all my friends and family. I was sitting in the waiting room waiting to be called back when another customer came in to ask about her glasses. She seemed irritated about the wait but I did not think she was rude. She spoke with the man and the red headed lady (they are in the photo) and they looked up her order and told her it was still a few days away. She thanked them and left. As soon as the door closed the man started berating the customer to the receptionist (the red head). They were both so snippy and disrespectful that I got up, walked out and never returned. Maybe they forgot I was there but, if you have ever had the feeling that someone was speaking ill of you, know that these folks do that. Take your business elsewhere. read more

They got him an appointment and treated him with the care we each deserve when we have concerns about our health. I had been a client of Modern Eyez for many years. Last year they took two months to get my medically necessary contacts in because whoever was answering their phone was simply not bothering to order them. After getting angry they were ordered. Then they received the wrong contacts, then just half the order. This year I had a vision emergency and I am trying to get eye glasses out of these people. Still waiting. Most of the staff does not care what your situation is. They will not do what they say they will, let alone make any effort to go above and beyond because maybe it's the right thing to do. After visiting a dozen VSP-participatinng optical shops in the area and reading a lot of reviews, I stopped at Modern Eyez last week for new glasses. I knew what I wanted but was astounded at the selection. With the kind, professional help of Vicki, I narrowed it down to two different frames, selected one, and Vicki got all the fitting and paperwork done. Then I had to tell her I'd changed my mind and decided I wanted choice #2 instead. Vicki was so professional and kind; she didn't blink an eye as she started over, assuring me it happened all the time. Told my rather complicated lenses could take up to two weeks, I was pleasantly surprised to get a call today that my new glasses were ready to be picked up. Jessica was very attentive with the fit and accuracy of my new eyewear, ensuring the fit was optimizing my progressive lenses. I could not be happier with my experience with Modern Eyez. The staff is professional, kind, and genuinely seems to enjoy their work. Frame selection is superlative. Customer Service is a true A+. Fantastic service, friendly and attentive staff, and the optometrist is willing to answer any questions you have. I purchased glasses that came with a warranty, but I was moving away shortly and wouldn't be able to have the warranty fulfilled in person, so when my lenses became scratched more than a year later they shipped me replacement lenses for me to install where I live now. They didn't have to, of course, and it wasn't free for them, but they did so anyway. Would recommend. read more

I have been going to Dr. Davis for years. Just went back recently bought three sets of glasses for everyday, sunglasses, and computer glasses after a full eye examination. Apparently, doing adjustments to new eyeglasses is a problem for the staff member who did mine. I have little need for attitude when I am a patient who has invested in care. This guy bent my new frames multiple times and clearly had no clue of what he was doing. He talked back to make me accept his poor adjustments when I asked for correction for fit comfort. Amazing! I am a medical professional so I was gobsmacked at my poor treatment and could not wait to leave. I can no longer recommend this practice to anyone. Sorry Dr. Davis but no one needs to be made out to be a problem to cover for the ineptness of a staff member when seeking help for medical/optical needs. Especially when they have been a good and paying customer since 2013. Ridiculous! read more
