If I could, I would give this business 0 stars. I had stopped in this little boutique during a trip to McMinnville from Chicago for a wedding. The store itself is nothing to write home about. Lots of cheap jewelry, sunglasses and scarves that are marked up like crazy. The layout of the store, ambiance, and random selection of merchandise screams cheap boutique. I saw a really cute maxi dress in the store that I purchased for $150...which was a ridiculous price for a jersey-like maxi dress...but I was on vacation and bought it on a whim. About 2 weeks later, after HAND washing it....though I was pressured to feel that I hadn't done this, the dress had holes all over the fabric...and not on the seams. I followed the label to a tee, and laid it flat to dry on my ironing board. Needless to say, I was a bit besmirched after shelling out $150 for this dress. I called the store and left a message with a sales associate because a manager wasn't in, in hopes of returning the unwearable dress. I was never called back. Only after calling them back the 2nd week of October did someone finally get back to me. When I finally spoke to a manager, I was pressured to feel I had done something wrong. They took my information and "said" they would contact the manufacturer. When I was called back today, I was told that there was nothing the manufacturer could do...that it was too late. AND that it was too late to return to the store because I had bought it so long ago.....though, they were the ones who never returned my call from September...less than 2 weeks after buying the dress. In conclusion, this business has poor customer service and poor quality merchandise. I really feel I was duped by this business and don't want others to be. Take your business next door to the shop that sells Toms and actual brand name merchandise that won't fall apart after one washing. read more

Accessory Appeal is my favorite store on 3rd street McMinnville. Whenever I need (or is it want? teehee) something new, I always know where to go. This beautiful little shop has been my go-to for birthday gifts for years, and I often treat myself to a little something, too! I always know I'll find something amazing. In fact, I often tell my girlfriends that Accessory Appeal is "dangerous" because there is always something I just can't live without. What a great unexpected store nestled in between some other boutiques and stores downtown McMinnville. The store is much bigger than one would expect peaking in the windows and does a good job with merchandising and keeping the racks manageable to look through. They do have a one large wall full of jewelry...it was a lot and it was overwhelming. I sort of felt that a lot of jewelry was chintzy but my personal taste in jewelry is more simple. The clothing selection was great and they had some great lines that ranged from affordable to pricey. My mom and I both found some great pieces and left happy. The sale rack was big and there was another sale going on, further discounting the items. One thing I would recommend to the store is that they create another fitting room...for the size of that store, one just doesn't seem like enough. The speaker in the for the store was also directly over the fitting room so it was extremely loud and since my mom and I had to share a fitting room weren't able to talk. read more

A wonderful Store with wonderful staff!! I had been having a rough go of it when I decided a little retail therapy was just the ticket! An adorable sales clerk named Stephanie helped me find some stylish little treasures to brighten my day :) I walked away with 3 pairs of earrings and a surprisingly flattering dress that I would have simply overlooked had it not been for the keen fashion sense of the sales clerk. I've been a customer here for years and can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review. I love this store so much that even after moving to Portland, I will still make the trip back to McMinnville to shop here. I get tons of compliments on the jewelry I buy here and I love that they have wide selection and price range to choose from. They have something for every occasion! The clothes are adorable too and my closet is well supplemented with jackets and cardigans in addition to all my favorite accessories. The staff are friendly and always ready to help. In fact they can outfit you head to toe if you want them too but they are also receptive to stepping back and letting you browse and shop to your hearts content. read more

I can not possibly express how impressed and appreciative I am of the fine folks at Accessory Appeal. I admittedly know very little of fashion and style, which is why I've grown to rely on their help in finding gifts for the women (young and old) in my life. On several occasions they've helped me with picking out gifts, I give them an idea of what the person that I'm shopping for is like and they've yet to disappoint, giving me a handful of options in the price range I had in mind (which lets me still pick out the gift while giving me some direction). Some of my daughters friends and younger nieces who my family and I have purchased for can be hard on delicate gifts, but I still see them (beaming) wearing their gifts (completely intact no less! :). The price and quality are remarkable. If you're anything like myself guys, this is a resource worth hanging on to for birthdays, holidays and special occasion gifts with the experience and expertise at Accessory Appeal. I just cannot say enough about the staff, these girls have taken the time to get to know my style and can direct me to that perfect piece of jewelry, handbag, or clothing that i may be looking for, whether for a special occasion or if I just stop in on whim !! Having just read the previous review, let me state I have the same Covet dress purchased from this same boutique and have never had an issue with it....I have worn it to death, even wading in the salty ocean with it on vacation and never a problem. I cannot imagine, short of putting it through a meat grinder, how holes could just "magically appear" out of the blue! I'm laughing just thinking of it. I found this little boutique in McMinnville and was completely enchanted with the amazing clothing and accessories (Sondra Roberts clutches (bought 2!), amazing jewelry at every price point, great scarves, hats and gloves, etc.) but also with the town as a whole. It's like small town America used to be and what everyone wants to believe it is. This boutique is almost 1.5 hours from my house but I drive there about 4-5 times per year to load up on goodies and to receive an amazing level of personalized service I have NEVER received in Seattle or Portland. It's like meeting up with old friends every time I go. Simply charming and amazing. It really peeves me when someone buys something, damages it or perhaps regrets the money they spent on it after they've gotten their special event use out of it and then expects the small boutique owners to finance their whims. Then, on top of that, they want to ruin their business by writing incendiary reviews such as the one listed by Erin S.....(did we skip our meds that day?) Don't listen to the obvious agenda of the previous review. Give this town and especially this store a try. Right in the middle of wine country. Fabulous restaurants scattered everywhere too. You will be absolutely charmed and happy with the store and the town. Then treat yourself to an ice cream at the corner shop! Absolutely adorable! read more

Last weekend my boyfriend and I decided to take a day trip to Mcminnville, during our time there I stopped by the Accessory Appeal clothing store while my boyfriend was parking our car. When I first entered the store an employee said hello from across the room and asked if I needed any help, I simply smiled at them and said no and that I was just killing time. I went on to browse a few articles of clothes (which was over my budget) so I started looking at their jewlery which was exceptionally priced. At this point I could overhear pieces of a conversation from the employees that greeted me before, commenting about my wardrobe and how inconspicuous I looked. (I should mention that as a college undergraduate I have worked 4 years in retail and know what sales associates look for when it comes to thieves and none of my movements, or actions should have given them this indication.) So naturally, I began to wonder if my ethnicity had something to do with it. I am mostly Mexican and Armenian so my skin is darker than most. I did have a purse with two straps with me, but I was sure to keep it directly behind me to where they couldn't assume that I was stashing anything after hearing the conversation. I continued to walk around and found a very cute hair pin that was affordable so I held it in my hand directly in front of me to ensure that it was far from my pockets or purse and it wasn't being concealed. A minute or so goes by and one of the employees come up and asks (in a harsh tone) if she can hold the pin for me. I thanked her and put it in her hand. After taking it she walked away without saying another word. Later I find something else that I like and again, she immediately comes up to me asks to take the necklace from me. Some might say that this procedure could be a store policy, but there was one other customer was also looking at their jewlery as and they did not treat her the same way by any means. A few minutes later my bf walks in to meet me and I proceed to checkout. The clerk was very straight to the point and didn't give so much as a smile. I have tried to look at this situation from an unbiased point of view and all I keep thinking is that the employees never gave me any indication that they were not being discriminatory. I truly believe that if I was white and had a lighter hair color while wearing/doing the same thing my experience would have been very different. read more
