Accolade Home Services Has done it again! Suddenly a toilet in our home stopped working. Like others, I tried the few things I knew to do - no luck whatsoever! I even purchased a new internal flushing kit. I called Mark of Accolade Home Services, and in no time, he identified the problem. It was not the flushing mechanism but was with the connectors under the toilet to the wall. He replaced the key connector that wasn't working from the toilet to the wall - a part he carries in his truck. He also replaced the internal mechanism that I'd purchased, as those do get older with time. In about 30 - 40 minutes he was done! Problem solved! read more

Mark is THE BEST. He has made multiple repairs around our home and each time we have been impressed at his professionalism, communication, ingenuity and just plain skill. Most recently, our front door wasn't closing completely, leaving a gap where cold air poured into the house. We thought perhaps we needed new weather stripping. But Mark is so much smarter than us when it comes to these matters. He saw that the metal strip at the bottom of the door was striking the weather stripping, preventing the door from closing all the way. In a very short time, Mark had sheared off the offending part and presto! the door closed perfectly. No more breeze. My wife and I cannot recommend Mark enough - he was truly phenomenal from beginning to end. He was the fastest handyman to respond (texted me 15mins after i messaged him) and asked clarifying questions before booking an appointment. On the day of, he showed up on time with all the tools he needed and was able to knock out 6-8 jobs that varied from sawing planks of wood for our kitchen island, to aligning stuck doors, to changing out light switches, to replacing our deadbolts with electronic locks. Mark needs to brush up on his communication skills. Poor experience when trying to schedule an appt. for Mark to remove and replace a kitchen microwave. I never spoke to Mark on the phone but emailed and texted him for several days asking him to give me some dates when he could come by. He delayed getting back to me several times, and he seemed uninterested in our job. When he finally gave us a week date when he could stop by, I asked him if he was sure he could come on that date because we were going to be away for a month soon after that date. Mark does truly excellent work. He has lots of glowing reviews here, but let me add another. We've hired Mark twice to do all sorts of odd and (to us) troublesome jobs. They were no trouble for Mark who flew through our long list of tasks with great efficiency & did everything with the highest quality. He fixed a shower area that had water damage in several places, doors that scraped or wouldn't lock, gates that wouldn't latch, drawers that wouldn't close, as well as he replaced both a broken attic fan/thermostat and a broken lighting fixture, amongst other tasks to make our home safer and more enjoyable. Mark responded right away to my request, was easy to work with to schedule the appointment, came early (yes, I just said EARLY!), and did four projects in less than 30 minutes. Projects included plumbing (slow drain, leaking toilet), light carpentry, and installing a smoke detector which I could not reach. His rates are incredibly reasonable. Our old curtain rod fell off and ripped a hole in the wall. Mark helped us install a new on and patched up the holes. He also helped us replace a screen door that was ripped about by my toddler. Little girls can be so creative! For example, right before we were having guests our daughters put a plastic cap just the perfect size to clog our toilet and make it irretrievable. Happy New Year! I am actually quite handy with a wrench and I often try to fix my own home repairs, but in this case I couldn't get it out with the plumber's snake. Sometimes I do not have the tools or the time to do the job. As you have seen from the other reviews, Mark is efficient, professional, and very reasonably priced. I would also note that he came to fix our toilet on New Year's Eve, pulled the toilet off, fished out the cap, and installed the toilet in about an hour. He also installed a microwave for us at our condo and was flexible with schedule changes while we were waiting on a delivery. He is very pleasant and was patient with our two little curious girls. I hired Mark a year ago to fix extensive dry rot on the stairs of our Tahoe house. (I'd been advised by an earlier restorer that the whole deck should be replaced for $12,000).
