Just after my original review, I've had this team repair what turned out to be some rather extensive leaks in some large windows in my house. They also discovered dry rot and mold growth on multiple stories of my house that likely resulted from the leaks. They were able to quickly and efficiently repair the leak, open up the drywall to repair all the mold damage, and then replace the drywall and repaint/retexture the wall. Oh, they stayed on to re-deck my aged and rotting wood deck with some modern synthetic decking. Yes, quite a bit of repair work, yet all done within a couple of weeks. Well, it's been about two years since they've done this work and I'm sitting in this season's first major rainstorm thankful that the repair work has been holding quite well. Thanks to Alex, Ilya, and their hardworking crew for the excellent repair work. Regarding the original windows that I needed repaired, well, that turned out to be more complicated. Fortunately, Ilya and Alex were good on their commitment to complete the job until the leaking completely stopped. Yes, what a relief now that the rainy weather has picked up again this winter. Denny did a great job replacing wood rot underneath my home office window. He gave me an estimate just by looking at a photo of the rot. He was at my house the next day spent most of the day replacing and perfecting the wood so it matched the surrounding frame - really cared about doing a good job. And the cost was reasonable. As far as United Pro Handyman Service, pleasantly surprised that they got back to me the very day I called them about my job. I can't say that about other handyman services on Yelp. Long overdue review! We hired United Pro Handyman (led by Ilya) in January 2024 for a remodel, including relocating an entry door, adding a partition wall, closing off a fireplace, removing built-ins, interior painting, and exterior stucco work. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. The main issue arose with the exterior stucco work, which began cracking within days. Ilya sent his guy to fix the problem and his guy just applied another layer of stucco to cover the cracks! After one week, the cracks became evident and had worsened. My husband and I have decided to go with a different contractor to fix this issue. I had informed ILya about this and he initially agreed to reimburse us for a stucco patch. During this time, we decided to legalize the remodel. From the city inspection, we found out that the problem wasn't just superficial--underneath the stucco, we discovered improper waterproofing, incorrect lathing, and screws that did not comply with California code. This oversight could have led to much larger structural issues in the future. When I explained that this was not simply a patch job but required a complete redo of waterproofing, lathing, and screw replacements, Ilya became unresponsive. Alex, the manager, visited our site multiple times during the project in January and even guaranteed a one-year warranty, promising to provide a formal contract after we made full payment. Despite repeated follow-ups with Andrei, the estimator, we never received that contract. If you're considering United Pro Handyman, I strongly advise you to demand a binding quote or contract that includes all warranties before making any down payment. Be cautious of their "choice" between a 10% discount but you pay for the materials or no discount but they will shoulder the cost of materials--insist that they cover materials, especially for larger projects. They purchased unnecessary items, including insulation pads that were never used, resulting in a complete waste of money. As of today, our newly stucco wall is now ready to be painted. We passed all inspections and it feels so good to know everything was done correctly. We regret our decision to work with United Pro Handyman and recommend others proceed with extreme caution. read more

This is our second time choosing Ilya and his team. Our new fridge was going to arrive within 2 days and we needed to make room for it by trimming the wooden frame on the top and side. Ilya arrived on the dot (rang the doorbell right on the promised time). He quickly got to work but not without clarifying my wants and needs first. He also explained in detail what he will be doing to get the job done. I brought up a past issue from his previous job here (it was not his fault, the hinge was faulty and would not close). And without hesitation he tweaked it so that it was deactivated and the door would close fully. He didn't charge for this work and gladly took care of it. He took the wooden pieces with him so that he could trim them in his shop, and brought them back the very next day, ready for reinstallation. Just in time for the new fridge. Then we headed over to my sisters place where she needed some work as well. He installed an electronic lock and straightened it to our liking. His colleague Alex was extremely professional and knowledgeable as well. He gave us a free extensive consultation on a variety of work my sister is considering. He gave great advice regarding installing a double sink and sliding tub shower door. They got back to us as promised regarding a quote to remove the wooden deck. I always get a sense of security working with Ilya. I know he will take care of us no matter what. They are reasonable in pricing, on time , professional, passionate about their work and helpful. I called and was able to get an appointment the next day to have our microwave installed. Andrei did a great job uninstalling the old microwave and getting the new one mounted. The new one hung slightly lower than the old one, but Andrei was able to avoid cutting the backsplash by shimming the unit. He was very communicative and provided an explanation of all the work he was doing. He did an excellent job sealing the top vent for the microwave, so there would be no excess air venting into the cupboard above. We will keep Andrei in mind for future jobs! read more

Good work. Questionable business practices. Flagging a few things. (1) There is a cash price and a check/price. You pay 10% more for credit card or check. We all know the tax implications of that. (2) It's not always an hourly rate. The first time I used them I was very happy. It was communicated to me that this is an hourly rate business. I had a list of things I wanted help with, messaged the handyman directly, confirmed the time. I was told when he arrived that one of the main things I wanted done (hanging a swing) would not be an hourly rate but would rather be $800 because of "liability." This felt deceptive to me. I asked what else was flat rate but couldn't get a clear answer. I was told bc I didn't message my list to Yelp (but the handyman himself) they wouldn't honor the hourly quote. Meh. I'll keep looking for business I can trust / where I won't get surprises. read more

We need help for some small projects. Nick (not sure if the name is spelled correctly) came on time to help. Projects include adding a dryer venting pipe in our garage, installing the double curtain rods, covering the holes on the crawl space venting windows, adding a board and rod in the closet, hanging a mirror and install a lock on the door in bathroom. Aleksandr and Ilia arrived on a Sunday to reinstall a semi-historic, slightly warped, freshly painted set of exterior wooden doors with new hinges. Nightmare situation. They were at the house for hours and did what they had to do. In the end the doors closed, sealed and locked. I'm super grateful. We hired United Pro Handyman to address a leaky window in our upstairs bathroom. They were very responsive to our project request on Yelp and provided a reasonable estimate based on the description of the problem and photos that I posted. Communication and scheduling was good. Delvin was the handyman assigned to our project and he confirmed the appointment the night before and was very prompt arriving the next morning. Delvin arrived with an assistant and quickly went to work on the project. They did good quality work and cleaned the area thoroughly. The reason for my 4 star rating is that Delvin left to purchase materials. Instead of going to our local Foster City Home Depot, he drove all the way to Daly City and left his assistant 'keeping busy' for 90 minutes. This added probably 1 hour to the total time over what was really required. I didn't notice that he had gone all the way to Daly City until after they had been paid and left the job site and I took a second look at the receipt. If I had, I would have challenged the labor bill for the additional time spent driving to Daly City. Overall, the quality of the work was good. read more

I attempted to hire United Pro Handyman Services to install a sump pump. The message that I received back from them is that they do this. I explained in a bit more detail to make sure and they said yes. The interaction to schedule was pretty clunky. I would get very short responses. For example, "we can do it Saturday". I had to respond back and say - when? I would get back "9am". I decided to give them a try. Two guys came out. No idea that there would be two. Not sure if that means you pay for two or if one guy is a trainee??? The one that did the talking and appeared to be capable (said he had a sump pump at his house) said he was too big to go into the manhole to do the replacement. He said they had a smaller guy that could do it, and that he would come back with him to do the job. He would call me later that day to schedule. I did not receive a call. When I followed up on this platform (which is how I connected with them in the first place), they said they can't do the job. The manhole is not big enough. So my feedback is that the communication is not great. They did not ask for any pictures. They did not call back as they said they would. And they did not want to do the job that I had described initially in detail when contacting them. I can't comment on the job that they would have done." read more
