We haven't been able to use our fireplace since Ace worked on it and installed a fan about 2 years ago. $6k + and what was a perfectly well running fireplace is now unusable. The only reason I brought them in was to clean and make sure it was working properly. I've been told by others who have since tried to help us get it working that we probably need to remove the fan that they convinced us we needed. And charged us so much for. Even if the fan did work (which it doesn't - smoke billows into the living room -- NEVER did that before Ace came) the fan sounds like an engine on an airplane, which takes away any chance of enjoying a fire. I should have written this ages ago, but I was hoping we would figure out a way to make it work. If you have an older house, PLEASE find a company that knows what they are doing. We are SO frustrated with not being able to enjoy our beautiful fireplace. read more

From beginning to end, everything was perfect. I wanted a company who specialized only in chimneys. On initial call I spoke with a live person and given an appointment about 10 days out. No problem as I wanted a Saturday. They called evening prior to confirm and called about 20 before arrival. Needed 2 flues inspected/cleaned. Priced quoted on initial call was price charged. EXCEPT, I had a couple visitors in the fire box.... bats! Chimney cap opening was too wide and they were coming down the flue. They removed the bats and replaced the cap with a smaller screen opening then wrapped the interior of cap with stainless diamond mesh. That was the only add but one which I considered essential. Workers were extremely neat, covering area with a tarp. Very happy with their work. The owner, John was with the crew and all were very thankful for getting the work. When I had my Oil Burner service performed on a Saturday afternoon, the reducer connector to the smoke pipe broke. The Oil Burner service guy put a temporary patch in place. I looked online for someone to fix it right. I came across Ace Chimney Experts. I read the reviews, all excellent. I called and Linnea answered the phone. I told her what the issue was and emailed her some pictures. She told me that someone would call back. A short time later Linnea called and then put Pete (the owner) on the phone. We went over everything and he assured me that they could take care of it. Linnea scheduled an appointment for Wednesday. She called on Monday to confirm. On Wednesday, the guys that were doing the work called when they were about 15 mins away. They were within the window that Linnea had set for the work. Both guys were very polite and friendly. They took care to wipe their feet before entering my house. They sized up the job and then went back to the truck to get supplies and tools. They took care not to bang into the wall as they were bringing everything down to the basement. They placed a blanket on the floor in the work area. They did the job quickly & efficiently. They cleaned up & left the area cleaner than it was before they started. I can't say enough good things about the whole process. Ace was highly recommended by my burner service company. Had to wait 4-5 weeks for the appt but it was well worth it. They arrived when they promised, were neat, clean pros...showed me photos of the work that was needed (ON TOP OF THE CHIMNEY) and didn't try to 'sell up' or recommend work I did NOT need (local company I called about 10 yrs ago and did not use scared me away from chimney guys for a decade; they tried to sell me a liner job I knew was not necessary). We had extensive work done to rebuild our firebox and constructing a new smoke chamber in 2016. Nearly 2 years later we called ACE about some unrelated concerns we had about our fireplace. These guys really know what they are doing. They diagnosed our chimney/fireplace problem correctly (others did not), and scheduled it as soon as they could after the weather allowed outdoor construction. They knocked down the existing chimney and fireplace and constructed a whole new one. They expected it to take a week and it took only one day longer. We thought there would be horrendous additional work because of the age of the house, but they found only a couple of things and fixed them within budget except for a few extra materials. They cleaned up every day (and kept the weather out), and left the place spotless at the end. When there were changes, they made sure to get approval. The results is handsome and solid, with a fine new hearth. All through the process, Linnea from the office was in touch with us and responded to our questions immediately (she works long hours). Pete was the manager on site, and all the guys seemed happy with their work. We'd use them again in a heartbeat, and highly recommend them: they are professionals. These guys are top notch! So impressed with the customer service from the first phone call with Linnea to the job finish. We had existing chimney for fireplace. We wanted to add wood burning stove. These guys knew exactly what to do and did it to perfection. They had to expand the existing chimney and construct a new one for the stove. So now we have a double chimney and it couldn't look any better. We were expecting it to not match up considering the existing chimney was so old, but we were wrong. They matched the existing to the new pretty much identical! We are so impressed.
