This is the second time they've shown up only to be unable to complete the job (due to skillset) and or left a job incomplete. I reference this because when I got on Yelp to leave a negative review my previous negative review was still drafted. We needed our new oven hood installed. The new hood is the same size as the previous, however Stacey chose not to listen to me and make it up in her mind to relay the wrong information to her techs that it would be the "same model." Wrong. Never said that to Stacey, so strike 1 attention to details. 2 techs show up at my house, the first unable to install the oven hood that came with all parts / directions after 2 hours. Strike 2 The next tech shows up, 2 hours go by and the oven hood is installed but without any vent. They also included an outlet with no cover, so we have an oven hood sort of installed with no duct or connection parts it came with... the job is unfinished. It dawned on me we tried to have the same tech install and secure out dishwasher - which he could not do either (bragging about 20 years of experience). We had to have another professional come in after Ace Handyman to fix what they barely started to setup. I mean the guy put a piece of wood to "stabilize" the dishwasher (literally a stick, no adhesive, no nothing). Unfortunately the wood splint for less than $1 fell out about 20m after their tech left (after making not 1, but 2 different trips to home depot for "parts") pretending he completed a $260 stabilizing / connection job for our dishwasher. Strike 3 was today... again we were told to contact someone else to finish the job; unfortunately they cannot help us. I've heard nothing back after paying. So shame on me for thinking this company was reputable or worth my money and time. The last tech kept joking on how he's "never seen an oven hood like this in his life." Ummm okay, well it's a $2,000 30" KitchenAid PROFESSIONAL oven hood, not a piece of junk from Home Depot. They were unable to provide a solution for and or install the parts (with all assets and a full direction booklet) for our exhaust piece, the duct that goes to the wall (less than 1 foot) and again walked away pretending they actually provided any service. This is what I get for hiring Ace Handyman and their discount bin dollar general customer / tech service. Go with their competitors, don't waste your money and time with niceties from people who are clueless, unprofessional, and don't follow through. Poor quality. Poor service. No value. Now I am to hiring another company when all this could've been avoided because Ace Handyman started and not only didn't finish but COULD NOT PROFESSIONALLY COMPLETE the project. Lastly, before the tech left he referred us to another company (friends of his no doubt) who informed us we never should've paid or allowed the tech to leave the job unfinished. By pictures they can tell it's "installed" but unfinished due to having no duct part connected which is "pretty basic" according to the referral. So... if I pay Ace Handman's referral company an additional $650 they will come uninstall and fully install the oven hood correctly. Thanks for the waste of money and time. read more

Highest level of integrity and their employees actually like working there and take great pride in their craftsmanship. Unlike many others, you can expect no extra surprises, up-sells, etc. and they are prompt in giving a realistic quote at what I feel is a good value. The owner, Stacy, is a pleasure to work with, as were Steve and Philip, the craftsmen who did a great job on my bathroom refresh. Not only is having a great team of people and doing great work important, other things that are important to me like having a warranty, being bonded and insured and having a very educational and informative website are just more of what sets Ace apart from the others. Even if you already have a Handyman, you will learn a lot from the information on their website and should consider this company for your next job. I've had a number things done in my house through the years and have generally been satisfied, but my guy moved out of the area. When I asked friends, none could give me a referral as most of them have unfortunately had unpleasant experiences in the past. A couple week's later I tried to hire another, local, handyman service thinking I'd save a bit of money and realized it wasn't worth it. Their service was terrible, and it was a waste of my time. I'm calling back Handyman Matters to schedule the work. They are a franchise, and are a modern outfit with a guarantee on their work and professional, electronic invoicing. My wife hired this company to come install Ring cameras. They estimated around $300 for the install. The handyman was incompetent in the install and took my wife for $450 only installing half of the requested cameras. When I got home and examined the work, the Romex wires were stapled to the side of the house without conduit. He used an extension chord to go to the other side of the house. Total slop job, and crazy that they charged us 40% more than quoted without even finishing, and what they did do, was done dangerously outside of code. It has been weeks since then and I can hardly get the company to return our calls. Every time I get ahold of them they tell us they are going to make it right. Nothing has happened yet. read more

I called these people so I could hire them to do some work at my home, but they never bothered to call back.

The job was to connect three bathroom faucets and hang two mirrors on a wall tiled with mosaics. The handyman they sent said he "wasn't comfortable" installing the mirrors because the wall is covered with mosaic tile, but I explained that aspect of the job when I scheduled the appointment. During the sink job he left to get plumber's putty and was gone 50 minutes; the Home Depot is 2 miles from my house and just one day earlier I'd dropped $100 at Walgreens, bought a wax toilet ring at the same Home Depot, run the car through the wash, and shipped a package at the UPS Store, all in 45 minutes, so draw your own conclusions about how long it should take to buy plumber's putty. The putty, by the way, should have been sent with the handyman in the first place, since they knew they were sending him to do faucets, and yes, they charged me for the time he spent going 2 miles down the road to get it. In the event he did just 2.5 faucets because for the third one the PVC pipe extending from the wall was too short. He showed me this when he was done, like it was something he expected me to do, but if I'd been able or willing to do that I wouldn't have hired someone. He could have picked up the PVC piece when he was getting the putty, but didn't. When I disputed the charge because the job wasn't done he said well, technically they're not supposed to be doing plumbing--but it's apparently okay for *me* to do it. "Plumbing," however, means valve and/or copper pipe work. This is connecting a faucet, which is what I discussed on the phone, and adjusting the PVC is part of that. Connecting the PVC is no more "plumbing" than connecting the water lines is, and besides: He didn't have that objection to the first two sinks. They charge by the hour and front load a $45 trip fee, and it took him about 3.5 hours for the 2.5 faucets, including the excursion for the putty. I called the office and got the price down to $235, but then they said there'd be an extra charge for the putty. I said no, there would not be; the job used maybe .25 cents-worth of putty; they knew they were coming to do a job that would require it and should have sent some with the worker in the first place; supplies are a cost of doing business and should be folded into the prices they charge, and I already paid for the 50 minutes it took him to buy the stuff, so I was done paying for the putty. The handyman wasn't equipped to take credit cards. No card reader on his smart phone or on a tablet; the girl at the hair salon figured out that technology six years ago. If you want to pay with a credit card you have to call the office and read off your information to them, so I paid with a check. To their credit the office negotiated the price down somewhat and dropped the idea of charging for the putty. They answered the phone promptly, updated me on the scheduling when necessary, and the worker arrived on time. He left the job site clean. On the other hand, I paid $235 to have 2.5 faucets installed, it took far longer than it should have considering they knew what the job was before they sent the guy out, he didn't come prepared with basic supplies for the job, and the mirrors still aren't up. They could have had future business installing four ceiling fans and fixing the molding on the patio door, among other things, plus referrals, but I will not be using this company again. Very disappointing after a promising beginning. read more

I used this company to install a one-of-a-kind antique door. They totally blew the job, it was a complete hack. The mortises were amateurish. No care was taken to protect the door, they just laid it down on the ground and slid it around. They didn't bother to drill holes for the screws, rather, they just powered them in which left them crooked and un-countersunk. They hung the door hardware crooked and off center. Door won't shut from the outside and will not stay closed. The jamb is out of alignment and was originally installed upside down. They had to re-hang it three times because they didn't measure correctly, resulting in them having to enlarge the mortises three times. At the ende of the job they tried to fill the voids with bondo, smearing it all over my Emtek oil-rubbed hardware. I must now hire another contractor to re-do all their work and try to salvage the door. I wouldn't recommend this company to do anything that needs care. This installation was a disaster. read more
