This is a local gem of a hardware store. Friendly and helpful staff always. I have shopped here for the last 18 years that I've lived in the area. I know I can count on them to have what I need, including advice on house repairs/ projects. Always. I especially count on them during the holidays, but during this COVID-19 scare, I certainly appreciate them being local all the more. Never could I imagine such a time. Yet today, to walk in and be greeted with familiarity was much appreciated and needed today. For them to also have toilet paper and masks, was an additional welcome. read more

Hardware old school. They don't have the selection of the bohemieths Home Depot and Lowe's. But they have most anything you are looking for. What they lack in size they make up is service. They are about 1/10th the size of those other two but I think they have the same amount of staff. They actually walk up to you and ask if you need any help!! Can you imagine. This is a review for website, not a particular store. I ordered some Java Logs yesterday from the site, to be picked up today at my local store. I bought them from Ace because estimated pickup is today, which is when I need them for a party. I now find this is completely untrue and deceiving. The gal at the actual store said they will not get these until sometime next week.The site should not list next day pickup when that is incorrect and not achievable. It is deceiving and not good customer service. I would have simply bought them elsewhere if I was given accurate information. Have your webmaster change this erroneous practice on the site, so as to stop misleading people's expectations. I have always loved Ace Hardware and have been coming here for years, even though they are a bit of a drive from my home. I do love that they are a small local hardware store, but I had my second bad experience today at this store and will not be coming back. I drove over there to get a key made. As I was taking the key off the keyring, so they could duplicate it, the guy behind the counter said "oh, you don't need to take it off," and just took the whole keyring from me. He made the key and it looked similar to my mailbox key, but when I got home, I found that the duplicate key didn''t even remotely fit the mailbox. I called the store and was greeted on the other end of the phone by someone who could care less...didn't even apologize for the error. They used to care about their customers, but not anymore and I will not be going here any longer. read more

My first experience at this particular ace was a few weeks back. I needed some hardware for a guitar project. This was the only ace that's open til 8pm in my area. I come in and I go straight for what I need. Can't find it so this gentleman offers to help me find it and right away he knows exactly where to look! He offers some suggestions and we agree on a set of screws and he offers to modify them slightly to fit my project. This whole time he's friendly and has a sense of humor which is always a plus. He was cool. After I got what I came for, I checked out the rest of the store and they have quite a lot of stuff. Not sure how it compares to other aces but they have Stuff ranging from lawn care, automotive, toys and even bbq sauce and rubs. You can spend a bit of time looking through all the little random stuff as well. I will definitely be visiting this ace more often based on my experience and hours. read more

Always like ACE hardware stores. My history with them has always been friendly & convenient hardware with good customer service with people who genuinely like to help folks. This store however, has broken my image of ACE hardware's brand with a 3rd strike. In the past, it's been laxed adherence to covid guidelines, blatant political talk from some opinionated/angry employee, and today, just flat-out rude art rude attitude by some young Asian or mixed employee, who clearly has a chip on his shoulder. Btw, I'm Asian myself, so this isn't a racial thing, but just identify him since I didn't get his name (not worth it). Anyway, I asked him a simple question about his knowledge and after the 2nd time of refusing and walking away, I thanked him for his "customer service." When I went to the register, I think he thought I was going to complain about him, because he looked at me and then rushed up to the other register. I didn't waste my time at the shop because i have a deadline with a project, but had to write this because folks like this should not be dealing with customers. Because they are pretty upfront it's a good to know they care about there consumer. Only downfall it's cramp, wish they had more real estate. Always feel eyes are on me. Ace Hardware's tagline is "The HELPFUL place". So. True. Don't get me wrong - I visit Home Depot and Lowe's, too - and the people there are also very nice and helpful. But when I step into Ace Hardware, it makes me feel like I'm shopping in a small store (and I am) and the people there really, genuinely are there to help me. Now, I consider myself a pretty decent DIY'er as well as a psudo-carpenter. I can confidently step into any of those stores and come out with the materials I need and get the job done. There have been times, however, when I did have questions that the people at Lowe's and Home Depot could not answer simply because they did not know the answer. I'd go to Ace and they would know instantly. I value good advice and helpful people over cheap prices. My usual hardware store is always done at Ace. I do go to the Lowe's in the Long Beach Towne Centre only if the store is closed, doesn't have something in stock, or doesn't carry something. We've all tried the big-warehouse business: Walmart, Target, etc... Lowe's and Home Depot are no exception. There's a reason why we prefer the small, hole-in-the-wall businesses. I wanted to take the time to write this review about Miles and Aaron. Both of those guys absolutely saved me a bunch of headache. I had two hex screws fitted on the back of my motorcycle's radio. In order to get it, I had to buy a hex low profile socket set. No hardware store had a low profile set, including Ace, but that didn't stop these guys from trying to make something work. Miles and Aaron both came up with the idea of using a hex drill bit, with a self ratchet, to fit in the small space. It worked perfectly. Not only did these guys save me time, money, and effort, but, also, the day to go out riding. I wanted to thank these guys very much for the hard work. To the owner: Give these guys a raise. Came in for a mailbox and mounting hardware. I figured it would be rather simple, and understanding some handy man stuff, I came in to get a mailbox as mine recently broke. The associate that asked me if I needed help, did not know how to help, and didn't know much about what I was asking. He quickly realized that he couldn't help me, (looking for a mounting bracket) so instead of trying to be help, he walked away to flirt with the cashier. I continued my search for what I needed, and asked again. This time I was handed off to someone else, (And the associate went back to flirting with the cashier, and playing games.) The associate that came to "help" also didn't really know the answer to my question (looking for a screw to fit an anchor). I picked up what I needed with the little assistance i obtained, and left remembering why i don't come to ACE for anything I need. ACE hardware, you may want to look into hiring associates that understand home improvement in same fashion, or at least have an interest in understanding what they are selling. Best Ace Hardware Store ANYWHERE!!! Spring St. and Palo Verde in Long Beach...You get that small town, family feel, great service right when you walk in the door. If they don't have it; you don't need it! Plus you can join their Ace Club and get $5 deals all the time. It's just a fun store. Sometimes I'll just hop in the car to come see what's new and before I know it an hour has gone by and I'm only halfway through the store. I find stuff I really like and stuff I didn't know I needed and I do my Christmas shopping there too. People love to get gift certificates from there as well. Oh oh oh... they do the Key Fobs if you lose yours for a fraction of the cost. I lost mine just before they started providing that service and I paid the car dealership $245.00 to replace mine..!!!...YES!!! $245 Smackaroonies 2 weeks later Ace starts it for only $69 YES!!! What makes the the big difference between ACE and corporate hardware stores is the strong personal service. Today I was looking for a spare part and it was nowhere to be found. Connor set to work and searched various possible locations to no avail. He then went searching through his software to find possible matches, then to other ACE locations that might have the item in stock. Still, no luck. As a last resort he took me to an unlikely part of the store where he found exactly what I needed. His dogged desire to help me was very impressive. He could have easily said 'sorry, not in stock'. My Dad owned an Ace Hardware growing up and he would have been disappointed with the service and attitude of the workers here. I thought I would never return to Lowe's but I would rather go to Lowe's than come back here. I went in to have some keys copied. It took 10 minutes... The manager was walking around the store talking down to everyone instead of helping. I guess something got stolen in the morning and he was berating his employees in front of the customers. Compared to a warehouse hardware store, this hardware store: 1) has more of what I'm looking for, 2) keeps things in stock, 3) is smaller and easier to get in and out of, 4) has a much better employee-to-customer ratio, 5) has employees that are easier to find and ask questions, 6) is easier and more convenient to go to while doing other shopping (next to Stater Bros. & Super Mex), 7) appears to be a family owned and operated business rather than a corporate-owned store, so you're supporting a local small business, and 8) is all around better than going to a warehouse store. The thing that always amazes me is how they have what I'm looking for, even though they're probably less than 1/20th the footprint of a warehouse store. I called on Valentine's Day to get a quote for a key fob. I was told about 125 over the phone, when I called at 11:47. When I got to the store at noon the price went up $20 dollars. I was just told I was making "alternative facts" by the store manager Glen and "that the price on the screen is the price on the screen." I asked him that's all he was going to do for me and he aggressively asked me what do I want to do about it".
