They have most of everything you need with a lot of friendly faces that are willing to help out. Purchased over $800 worth of tools at this location. Got home and opened up the boxes to find missing tools. Went back as soon as I was able to and was told by the hardware manager that he cannot do anything without speaking to the salesperson that collected my Cash, but the salesperson went home already. The hardware manager told me to come back tomorrow after 7 a.m. to speak to the salesperson. I came back the next day and they both said I should contact Milwaukee which I had already contacted Milwaukee about the issue the same day I purchased the tools. Milwaukee advised me to go back to the store where I bought the tools. While at the store, I called the Police, they advised to contact the corporate office and general manager. I left the general manager a Voicemail and still haven't heard back. Since I paid the $800 in cash, I have no way of getting it back, unless I take them to small claims. Basically, they would not help me at all. They would not give me an exchange and kept my $800 cash. At this point small claims is my next option because I want a refund after dealing with these people. read more

I was at the Los Alamitos store at about 30 minutes before closing time on Friday which happened to be Saint Patrick's Day and I was looking for a 4" x 8" 14' long beam. I did not catch the employees name but he came by with a forklift to help me and he actually took off half of the stack of lumber and rummaged through the middle of the stack and picked out one exceptionally good looking piece for me. I thought that was exceptionally good work to help a customer, he went above, and beyond anything I had expected. You would never get anything like that at any of the big box stores. This is why I go to Ganahl for my lumber needs, aside from the fact, there is no comparison between the quality of Lumber at Ganahl, and the lack of it at Home Depot and Lowe's. I have came here a few times to get wood. They have an okay selection of hard woods S3S. The first 3-4 times I never calculated the board foot myself as I trusted them. I went there about 3 months ago and thought I paid a lot for the board so I measured and when I looked at the invoice the measurements were more. I thought I might have miss calculated so I left it. The next time I went I got home and measured again the board I bought and it was 7 inches wide. On the invoice it was 11 inches wide. Length was 11 ft on the invoice and I measured 9 ft. I came again this last week and measure at the store because I had to get some walnut for a project. This time I measured at the store and when the guy rung me up I asked him for his measurements. They were off again and when I asked he said oh yeah we round up... this will be the last time I go to this store. They will rip you off adding extra bf to the invoice!!! I was buying some wood today and an Employee named Orland was very rude to me and making it difficult to purchase a few sticks of wood for a home project. The rest of the employees are so helpful and nice. Orland is so unprofessional last time I was in line to buy materials he told the customer in front of me ( who was friendly and did nothing wrong) that he would not help him because Orlando didn't the customer's brother. I must update my review. Purchased Marvin Windows from Ganahl Lumber. Ganahl's window rep, Al Hernandez, was my sales contact. Initially, the windows weren't sliding smoothly and the locks were really stiff. Marvin Windows advised they couldn't respond with a tech for 6-8 weeks. I then posted a negative review. Since, Al Hernandez, and Ganahl management assisted in getting Marvin to my residence within a week. The Marvin Rep, Paul, was phenomenal. He fixed all four windows within 1 1/2 hours. Paul was pleasant, knowledgeable and experienced. He didn't blame shift and advised they just needed minor adjustments. Al Hernandez and Ganahl also deserve acknowledgement for being receptive of our concerns and expediting the process. I actually feel guilty for the initial bad post and needed to update. Wish I would have known about Ganahl Lumber before, always thought this was more of a contractors store than for the general public so I've always gone to Home Depot or Lowe's for the majority of my build projects, not anymore! Needed some new doors and closets for an ADU were building and Anthony Yepez was extremely helpful both in person and through email. He took a look at my blueprints, made some corrections and adjustments based on so, and got me everything I needed. Even had a slight communication mix up and I ordered too much but Anthony was able to fix that as well. Definitely will be back for future projects! read more

Please save yourself a lot of time and stress and do not buy your door from this store. We had such a nightmare! First, we waited months for our door to arrive and our sales guy, Noel, ordered the wrong door!! We eventually got our door but now, it was the wrong size!! We had to spend an extra $1200 to pay our install contractor to make adjustments and buy more material to make the door fit. We didn't even get a proper apology until we spoke with the manager. Yesterday, I went to Ganahl ready to order a new front door, a huge front window, and a solid bathroom door. It was a Monday at 2:00, and the doors and window area was empty. I looked around and tried to find someone to help me. I went over to where there were desks and people working. No one would even look up. Finally, one guy asked me if I had an appointment. He reluctantly talked to me guilting me about not having an appointment, not having a contractor measure, etc. He also told me they were busy on Mondays with contractor orders. I felt like I was an inconvenience especially when he told me to CALL and make an appointment. He would not handle that for me. I learned two things... the Ganahl I used to love doesn't want to help the public... just contractors. Also, I need to make an appointment somewhere else! read more

They RACIALLY PROFILED and DETAINED my boyfriend! Yesterday my latino boyfriend went in to check out some lumbar for an upcoming project and as he was leaving they detained him and demand that he emptied his pockets. Their excuse was that the thought the gloves he was wearing were their gloves. His worn gloves that he used earlier while doing manual labor. The gloves he had on the entire time since walking into the store. They didn't even have the decency to apologize. As if it was HIS fault! I am honestly furious and disgusted by this place. This isn't even the first time i've gotten a negative vibe about this place. I have had two other negative occurrences by this place that made us feel like second rate costumers. I have come here a few times with him to get some supplies. #1 We came to buy some nice lumber for one of his business projects. He already knew the lumber he wanted and the amount. He told the cashier what he wanted and the cashier looked at us suspiciously. Conversation continued as: Cashier: Are you sure you want it? It's really expensive. BF: Yes I do. Cashier: I'll tell you the price, It's pretty expensive. BF: Nah it's okay. I just want the lumber. Cashier: Are you sure? BF: Yes! The cashier seemed pretty surprised that his card got accepted also. It was really annoying. My boyfriend even joked about it, but I could tell he was annoyed. #2 When we went to the counter to get our lumber loaded on the truck the lady behind the counter was so rude. She was talking with her coworkers when we walked up. She didn't move up to the counter, she just asked "Can I help you," in a very sassy and uninterested tone. Then when we started talking she cut us off- "You're gonna have to speak louder." She didn't even bother moving closer to us. She looked like she didn't even want to be there. Like how dare we interrupt her conversation. We ended up having to yell just to be heard. It was entirely unprofessional. I needed to purchase molding for our kitchen remodel ASAP After spending at least 30 minutes at Home Depot to be helped I decided to leave and go to Ganahl Lumber. I showed up 10-15 minutes before closing expecting the staff to be annoyed when they saw me walk in. To my pleasant surprise I was greeted warmly and pointed in the right direction. In the molding department Brittany approached me immediately offering help. She was knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. She showed me samples and advised me on my purchase. After associates at both of the major home improvements referred me to Ganahl to find more options for lumber for an outdoor bench project I came here for the first time. I am so glad I did. The level of help and expertise from the various associates I worked with was exceptional and they have earned my repeat business. At first this store does seem like it is meant for contractors and those of us that need more assistance could feel like it's not for us. But the moment you seek help you will find it and be very happy with the service. It's a good balance for the contractor that doesn't need to be sold or hovered over and the DIYer that wants a little help when needed. If I have a nit to pick it would be that the website is pretty poor, especially if you try to navigate it on a mobile phone. But realistically it's best to just go in and talk to the great associates there. I was treated particularly well by Joey who helped me figure out my initial lumber order, Vanessa in paint and wood stains, Mario for general help around the store, and the young man that helped me at will call whose name I forgot to get. Ganahl is the BEST! I have been a long-time customer at Ganahl. They have the biggest selection of baseboards, moldings and an incredible inventory of premium hardwood. Unlike the big time stores Home Depot and Lowe's, most of the premium lumber is not warped and bowed. The quality of the wood is tops. Their tool department is HUGE and has every brand you can name with a great selection of hand tools as well. The various other departments are equally stocked. Electrical, plumbing, paint, etc. have the same quality and selection. Today I went in for a RARE plumbing pipe as a last chance before I buy it on-line. (I like to have the item in hand to see the quality and make sure it's right rather than having to send it back) Well they had it! I was kind of surprised but not really because I know they have a great selection of everything. Now all this good has to have just a little not so good. But being a reasonably intelligent business man i understand the reasons and cannot hold it against them in the scoring. First - the prices are higher than what you would pay at the aforementioned stores. But I understand this because the quality is higher and the inventory is larger and it costs more to carry these. Second - The closest one is 15 minutes from my house. i can understand this because of where I live and the number of stores they can have, they're not going to come to Bellflower. So I will continue to use the other stores for my basic needs, but will ALWAYS go to Ganahl when I need something special. read more

Starting a reno is a bit intimidating and I've been through 3. On this last one I had to purchase a two-door entry and I had no idea where to begin. Someone recommended Ganahal Lumber and that is where my initial search took me. Miriam Aiello was amazing and, frankly, spoiled it for me as I checked with other vendors after sitting with her. She 'got' what I wanted right away and was able to show me every style and color online. Because I wasn't quite sure of our double door size she sent me home to get exact measurements. We emailed back and forth but, unfortunately, the doors I wanted would take too long to arrive and time was running out. In the end, my contractors were wonderful and sanded down the existing doors giving me more time to find just what I wanted. You can bet when that time comes (when finances are replenished) I'm going to track down Miriam and give her my order. read more
