Good gravy people! Some of you are acting like you want to NOT have anyone to EVER help you! If that is the case...GO TO LOWES! They will be happy to NOT give you any assistance, and they hire plenty of people who have no earthly idea how to do anything other than play on their phones. E&T Hardware is a gem! Elgin is lucky to have a great place where we can go get what we need quickly and have people there who know what they are talking about. And so, some of the prices, not all, but some are a little more than the big box stores. The way I look at it is, my time is worth more than saving a few bucks here or there. I value my time and will continue to give E&T first shot at just about everything I need and only go to Lowes or HD when either E&T does not have what I need or the price is such that I have no other choice.

The random collection of goods, including artwork, was interesting to peruse through. I don't know that I saw anything was particularly a good deal in terms of price, but to be honest I was merely window shopping and didn't really have plans to purchase anything. However, I did see a few things that I liked and probably would have considered a purchase if I were actually seeking to decorate. Other than that, the smell of fresh popped popcorn filled the area near the entrance so its probably not a good idea to go in this store hungry.

Before leaving, I called at 9:00 a.m. to let the store know I was on my way to pick up my order. When I arrived around 10:40 a.m., the experience immediately went downhill. I stood at the customer service desk while three employees were present, yet no one acknowledged me or asked if I needed assistance. Everyone appeared frustrated and completely uninterested in helping customers. After waiting, I finally got someone to assist me. Unfortunately, it only got worse. By the time my order was being loaded around 11:15 a.m., the two employees handling the pickup were rude, short, and abrasive. There was no greeting, no communication, and no appreciation for the fact that I was picking up a significant order. I work in Greenville and rarely shop the Columbia location, and this experience reminded me why. The difference in customer service between the two stores is night and day. Greenville has consistently been professional, friendly, and helpful. Columbia, on the other hand, made what should have been a simple pickup stressful and frustrating. When customers spend thousands of dollars and plan their day around picking up materials, they deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend the Columbia location. If you have the option, I would strongly suggest driving to the Greenville store instead.

When I later returned to Dan-Rich to get a matching ottoman custom made, she helped me with that, too. The couch has aged very well and is as almost as beautiful as it was when I bought it. Dan-Rich has a lot of inventory packed in the showroom with a nice variety of price points. Doesn't feel all "chainy" and corporate like a lot of furniture places do. Looks like they took off the good parts and replaced them with old parts so they could use my parts elsewhere. The bike runs like shit and rattles because they didn't put all the screws back in.
