I was having problems keeping the pilot light lit. Ace Plumbing came and replaced the thermocouple for $550. They charged me $420 for the thermocouple part. Huge Ripoff Highway robbery. Stay away. Not happy, I called them on Tuesday for water heater problem; they scheduled me for Wednesday afternoon, called me 1 hr before scheduled time to let me know tech. will be late. After 1 hr called me again that tech cannot come but will come Thursday. So this tech showed up around 9:20 AM, checked the equipment (tankless water heater) and confirmed my diagnostics, a leaky heat exchanger. The parts are covered by manufacturer, ace plumbing initially wanted $1,445.00 to put them in, then came down to $1,000.00. The manufacturer gave me contact number of another certified plumber in Calgary, who agreed to put new parts for just $500.00. What a rip-off this company is, just wasted $82.95 for their dispatch fee. read more

The garburator got clogged. Called the first plumber who could come and it was Ace Plumbing. First of all, the plumber was late to our appointment. Then, when he arrived, he said he knew that the garburator got clogged. We told the receptionist our issue. The plumber came in with already knowing what the problem was and recited what we told the receptionist. The plumber didn't even check around the garburator but started to say that the basement pipes are plugged and we would have to tear our basement flooring to get at these pipes! What?? Really?!? The plumber hardly spent any time at the kitchen sink! He took out his tablet and quoted us $2,700 to wreck the basement floor!! Really?!? His plan B was to auger the clogged pipes. Charge was for $527. Lesser of 2 evils, we opted for the 50' auger. After he augered, he said that there wasn't any blockage. Yes, but the water flowed out of the sink. We have been watching our sink ever since the silly plumber came to our house and it's been fine. What terrible service! Never use Ace! They are scammers. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this company and the people with whom I have add contact! Bernie, today was my "furnace guy." Last year he was my "sink guy." He is not only thorough and professional, but he is friendly and funny, empathetic and concerned. During both visits, he not only did the job required, but he also gave extra advice, tips, suggestions, and service without charge. Chelsea (my CS contact,) has both messaged and called me a number of times for this appointment - all in an effort to ensure times, dates, and services required, were convenient for me. She too was thorough and professional, yet very friendly. I've quite enjoyed talking with her (completely outside the business!) I believe I may also have heard from a Jennifer as well initially - she right away showed concern for my situation (no heat and it was cold lol,) and expedited my request. All in all I highly recommend Ace! I will use them each and every time and will continue to refer my friends (or just anyone I talk to lol!) Follow up to earlier review. Actual cost by competitor for completed installation of hot water tank was in fact less than 50% of the cost quoted by Ace Plumbing. Last week I discovered that our air conditioner stopped working. I phoned on a Thursday but they couldn't send anyone until Tuesday morning. Chelsea called me at 8am to confirm we were still expecting someone to come look at our AC and said Bernie would call just after 9:00. At 9:20 Bernie called and said he would be arriving in the next half hour. When he arrived he was very thorough in checking out everything and explained everything about the air conditioner. He was very informative and answered all my questions. I appreciate everything he did and even though my conditioner is completely out of commission I'm for now going to live without one. Last year (Summer-Fall 2012) I spent many months trying to find a reasonable plumbing contractor who could replace my very old sewer line. I had had many sewer backups over the years and they were getting more frequent. I had a couple of companies who were working on quotes for me but they said it could take a few months to complete the quote. then I found ACE Plumbing. They were fast I will give them that... they showed up for the appointed time, and the young man said he would need to charge me $79 just to come into my house, or he could video my sewer and charge me $240 and then told me I would receive this back when they came and did the work. I told him the city had done 2 - 3 videos of my sewer already and that they shouldn't need to, but he insisted that they had to have their own video, so ok, obviously the only other choice I had would be to ask him to leave immediately. I had to ask, but they eventually gave me a copy of this expensive video. My biggest issue with ACE is that they claim that because they have everything in their truck that they would need to repair anything, that the customer should pay the top prices they charge. I disagree. I would rather that someone do the basic work and tell me exactly what they are capable of without gouging me to just walk in the door. It didn't help that the rep was rude. At the very least, if you must rob me, please be polite about it. I did not go with them as they quoted $22,000 - $28,000. Unbelievable!!! I only just now found the business owners response to my earlier review and find it quite creepy and disturbing. I can't begin to relay how relieved I am to hear that despite the bazaar owners earnest and exhaustive personal efforts to hunt me down, they were unsuccessful because if they did, it sounds like I would have been forced to resort to legal and restraining order measures to simply secure and protect the welfare of my family. Not just a shady plumbing outfit, but a deeply disturbing one that I obviously regret ever opening my home to. I am quite relieved by the gut feeling decision I made to cut my loses, move-on and bring in a reputable plumbing company to fix their messes. Scary. read more

Moving to a new home, wanted to take the soft water tank as new owner doesn't want it. Receptionist wouldn't give me an approximate price saying only the tech could do that. Tech arrived on time looked at the unit tried to up sell me on their product then said the unit was really heavy, have to get another truck, special parts etc. Then gave me a price over $1100.00 to. I have had dealings with Ace in the past and have had good experiences. Frankly the knowledge base has been marginal but they stood behind their work and didn't charge me for work that didn't solve my problem. I had a similar experience with the recent service call for my A/C. I was told that Ace only had one A/C guy but when he showed up, he used an internet check list to test the unit. He spent 40 minutes removing panels and blowing leaves away to tell me what I expected to hear - that the unit was working fine. My main concern was that the coolant level might be low and his test for that was that there was no condensation on some pipes after running for 5 minutes - seems overly simplistic but I'm not an expert. The service was very friendly and professional - no issue with the service man; my major issue was that this service call cost me $362. I have a condo in California and it costs me $140 for two visit A/C / furnace preventative maintenance calls (plus addional costs if additional service or parts are required)! I still value Ace as a service provider but feel the cost for this service call was excessive and won't be using them for A/C service in the future. read more

I assumed they charged by the hour, so they sent a 'technician' a day late with a pocket full of surprises. The guy, who claimed to be a plumber, looked the job over, and decided he would have to climb a ladder in the basement for a few minutes and that required that he add $250.00 to the estimate. Because I needed to have the work done quickly, replacement of a couple of feet of leaking plastic tubing, cost me $700.00. The work took him almost an hour. Don't ever call ACE PLUMBING! read more

Zero stars would have been my preferred rating for this company. I had the misfortune of receiving a call from my tenant this past Christmas Day that the drain in the unfinished basement floor had backed up at our rental property. We made some calls and eventually manged to get in touch with Ace. They advised me over the phone that the service call would cost $229 - which was somewhat understandable for a Christmas Day call out. The drain had backed up on me about 18 months earlier and I had a different plumber come in that day. Unfortunately I had not recorded his name and number. He used his motorized auger which he threaded all the way out to the main sewer line to clear the blockage. In the process he pulled back lots of tree root fragments indicating the likely source of the problem. That plumber repaired the issue inside an hour and charged me $175. When I arrived at our rental property on Christmas Day, the Ace technician had already assessed the problem and told me he would need to use his power auger in the sewer line - just as the previous plumber had done. But he told me he'd have to review the price with me before he started the job. The price was going to be $900 !!! I told him about the previous repair being done in less than an hour for $175. He told me there was nothing he could do. I told him I could understand them charging some kind of a premium for a Christmas Day job, but this sounded outrageously high !!! After talking it over with my wife, we sent the guy packing with his $229 "service" fee. We then put our tenants up in 2 hotel rooms on Christmas evening and I arranged for a different plumber to come in the next day. He charged us $290 for the repair including the service call. Once again, it took about an hour. Even adding the price of the hotel rooms, we still came out well ahead of what Ace wanted to charge us - so that at least gave us some satisfaction Anyway, if you've read this far, I doubt you'll make the same mistake we did when we called these guys - especially on a holiday! I just wish we had done a little research ourselves before we called Ace. read more

Our renters called them to have our hot water tank checked the tech came gave us a diagnosis and and estimate to replace it. We called them the next day to discuss the estimate & book an install and the lady who answers the phone is not able to do this (after a very long spiel about their happy today guarantee just upon answering the phone ) and has to have the GM call us back (that afternoon)... Umm ok. We wait, no call. We call again, oh he's not in he'll call us back, that afternoon, but the woman says well while I have you on the phone lets get your credit card # on file, WHAT? NO WAY I haven't agreed to anything yet let's wait till we actually get this booked at least..... Again No call.back. We ended up checking out a couple extra places and got something booked and installed (cheaper than their estimated "DEAL" ) before ACE ever called us back ( this time we weren't available to get the call unfortunately cause I would have given them this same review.
